If you start to feel sick when playing, stop and have a rest. You'll get your VR legs eventually, just don't push it.

I know that PCVR is certainly going by the way side with standalone VR wireless headsets getting better. However, PCVR quality is still phenomenal with what can be achieved currently.

Will be looking at doing a wireless connection with my PC through my Quest 2. As achieving that will certainly fill in the gaps until a higher quality wireless standalone comes about. Valve should be capable of achieving this within the next couple of years.

WTF is Dave on about. Is this just blatant sugar coating? Was he saying the same shit when the quest 2 version was being made? I'd like to think this is all true since I have a pre order in but I highly doubt it since re8, horizon, and gt7 are all using reprojection. Could first party devs really be that lazy to not fully utilize hardware they've come to know for years now? I don't think so.

it's the usual consoletard cope
Yeah it has "more performance for the same price" because it's extremely standardized, but you're also locking yourself out of everything else a PC can do and a console can't.
You want to play a game the Sony didn't approve of because it's some random indie shit you found, coomer games, or non-politically correct games? Get bent.

It may be true performance-wise but that's the only positive

But flat screen console ports don't get anywhere near this amount of performance gains just because of more efficient rendering pipelines. This would only be the case if current pcvr is just leaking performance due to shitty windows processes. Reminder that a ps5 is more or less on par with a 2070. That means it's punching 80% above it's weight class if it's 10% more performant than a 3090ti

If it can better give the illusion of 120 than the psvr1 reprojection did then its honestly not a bad solution. Every previewer keeps regurgitating how "smooth" it runs so I'd imagine it gives that illusion pretty well. I'm curious to see how it feels vs native 90hz. Seeing as how they're targeting for hybrid games reprojection is crucial. If a flat game is already targeting 4k60 than running it on a 4k headset at 60 projected to 120 will take minimal optimization.

It's true, for any console, but to achieve something close to that performance you need at least one John Carmack on your team, or a team that has worked close with the hardware years before release.

He said they've been working on the psvr2 port for a year but as someone else mentioned Im guessing the near 3090ti performance is with spacewarp. If the port really is gonna be a full 120hz without reprojection than that would explain why updates have been stagnant. I wish more games ran at full 90/120 fps cause as it stands the reprojection has ghosting issues.

The one thing that is actually turning me off from the PSVR2 is how stupidly big the controllers are. I'm so spoiled from my Meta pro controllers which has zero tracking rings and not to mention, we still don't know the battery life of the PSVR2 controllers which is worrisome. The controller for the PS5 has shit battery life so I don't know man.
Anonymous No.417756825

Yeah Im hoping the haptics compensate for some of the glaring drawbacks. Bradley made the point that they're also too light for his liking so I won't rule out the possibility of a 3rd party battery dongle thingy that also gives the controller a bit more heft. Dualsense battery life varies extremely imo. GT7 drains through the whole thing in like 3 hours but that's a game that goes completely ham on haptics and vibrations to where I can feel every single bump, gearshift, tire skid and even some other stuff I can't name off the top of my head rn. Games that are lighter on haptics last me about ~7 or so hours. I feel like the vr controllers are made to last a single session and then placed on a charging dock or something which isn't good.

Realistically what card would I need to run most games at 90fps without spacewarp on something like a Q2 ? I'm fine with reprojection but the few seconds where a game goes to "real" 90fps feel so much better. The only problem is it's hard justifying getting a expensive rig for VR since something half the price does the job perfectly for flatscreen games.

I like the visual effects. Gas coming out of the barrel, all the sparks, bullet impacts looking almost explosive on some surfaces and the red glare that I assume happens when strong enemies target you. It's arcadey but so is mowing down dozens/hundreds of enemies so it fits. I'd hope whatever they're doing with the magnifed optics is just for the mirror view because if multiple developers including Dave can get proper scopes on Quest then PS5 can surely handle them.

Other than that I consider it a good sign when a VR game trailer seems to mostly be real gameplay.

Anon, seething won't make PCVR any less dead. When tranny chat has more PCVR players than everything else combined no dev is going to bother. Our only hope is that PSVR2 and PCVR combined convinces a few of them to risk making a game that isn't built for Quest from the start.

Steam Next Fest VR Demos February 2023
>Good
Not Good

Alpha Terminus: Mech game where you control the arms, but it's just a rail shooter.
Aquatic Messenger: Controls broken.
>Band Space: Multiplayer Rockband with drums/guitar/bass/keys. Must play, best demo here. (adjust instrument positions in pause menu)
Events at Unity Farm: You are a black kid witch and walk around a farm shooting zombies, clunky magic inventory.
>Formula Retro Racing: Polygonal racer with drift or regular turning. Gamepad only.
Gazzlers: Literal on rails shooter with random gun upgrades.
Golf on the Moon: Broken.
Increment: Cookie clicker in VR with a Le Art tone.
>No More Rainbows: Gorilla Tag singleplayer mode.
Ornament Express: Very short room puzzle.
Taolu: Kungfu training dummy, but you copy one move at a time so there is no way to build a rhythm.
VetVR: Perform surface level procedures on 1 dog. Claims to be accurate.
VReken: Arena street fighting with a focus on intercepting punches but enemies are too simplistic.
>VRnoid: Arkanoid plus air hockey. (how is this still not released?)

Those roguelikes need variety is enemies, environments, and weapons to keep replay value up. Doesn't look like there's much enemy variety and probably only 3 different levels. Weapons look okay and the upgrades/stat cards stuff looks good. Will keep an eye on it.

It's not bad, IMO worth it for that price if you don't have anything else, or like me your index is slowly falling apart and you want a backup. The tracking isn't the worst; you won't be winning beat saber competitions but it's perfectly serviceable. Shooty games are probably worse because of occlusion but I didn't try much. I think you'd just find yourself playing a different selection of VR games. The resolution is very good in the center of your FOV, and the headphones and mic are the exact same as the index (i.e. very very good).

I've never been tempted to switch back to it from the index (while it's working), but I wouldn't be that unhappy to.

The wireless adapter is great when it works, but it has always had lot of stability issues.
Expect a random greyout/blackout about once an hour, and depending on the game you have to completely shut down VR and even restart the vive wireless app to get everything working again.
Mine finally started dying every couple of minutes after 1-2 hours of use, so finally got some pulleys instead.
tl;dr if you get one make sure it's brand new and has a 2 year warranty

realistic lightning overhaul for exteriors and relighting skyrim for interiors
skyrim realistic overhaul, noble skyrim and underground texture mods with descending overwrite priority, also a 1k night skybox texture to stop stars flickering and ethereal cosmos
then spell wheel vr for inventory and blended roads and whatever gameplay tweaks youd wanna have
weather mods apart from obsidian fogs dont seem to be worth having

So I see people doing cool tricks and shit in H3VR with guns and reloading, just how hard is it to do in practice ? I often fumble when playing ItR in moments of panic (like grabbing the wrong thing) with my Q2 controllers. Wondering if it's a >skill issue or if H3VR has more precise handling.

You can see them in 3D when looking at them face on. When you go the side they look flat. They look much nicer in VR than flat thanks to stereoscopy. The main downside right now is that Skyrim VR doesn't support terrain parallax yet, but everything else seems to be fine.

I like OLED with my flat monitor at least because the response time is better and there is no ghosting. I think that the main issue with most OLEDs up until now is the pentile shit which makes them bad in VR, but with the PSVR1 and now this new headset there is a subpixel stripe.

Receiver 2 arguably goes further. You had to do things like depress the magazine follower to insert new rounds in. In addition to the infamous constant glock-legging mechanics and misfires.
Vail had an interesting if completely useless feature where you could actually manipulate the fire selector of guns with your hands. So you'd have to go and move the lever thing on the AK-types if you wanted semi-auto. It also had way better scope implementations.

Is it restricted to games that actively implemented hand-based tracking, or can you map your hands to controller actions? Is quest hand-tracking usable in normal games?
