I use mine with a link cable, you can't have a battery pack and a link cable at the same time so you're going to drain the thing if you play for a while. Facial interface is the padding that your face presses into. Head strap is the thing that wraps around the back of your head.
My biggest recommendation is to get a cheap third party head strap, the included cloth one is terrible.
You can't use a battery and the link cable at the same time.
My personal setup and is a cheap third party head strap, 10,000mHA battery pack and wireless using Virtual Desktop (you don't need wifi6 if your wifi connection is already strong). With the link cable you'll only get 6~ hours of battery and are constrained in your movement, cables also tend to fail when you're moving around a lot so you might end up having to replace it at some point.

I like it. The comfort isn't great with the halo strap. I get some pain after wearing it a bit, but I think it's mostly due to cranking it too tight. Working on some comfort mods. It's really easy to wear with glasses which is a big plus I didn't consider.
Lenses are great, it's incredible to not have to worry about a "sweet spot". Virtual remote desktop screens are readable and reasonably comfortable. I shitpost from VR occasionally, either through the desktop link or the built in web browser.
I tried the partial light blockers once but decided I actually like the open design and the only time it bothered me was while playing a "spooky" thing.
The video pass through is kinda silly but usable for some things.
New controllers are great. I guess I miss index finger tracking a little bit.

I'm a professional 3d modeller I know what I'm fucking doing and the last thing I will fucking do is apply decimate modifiers needlessly or randomly, I have already manually reduced my tris down to a point where I can shave off not anymore tris without ruining mesh shape or causing clipping, most of the extra tris are not enabled and are just vram sinks, 70k poly limit is out of date vram centric limits are the new hotness focusing on draw calls and poly's was always fucking dumb, I can maybe shave off 1-5k more poly's and MAYBE fit some shorts, but I have no guarantee as booth doesnt tell me how many poly's their shit is, they 3x sub divide shit for no fucking reason and i spent like 3 hours manually removing the sub division because after sub dividing they slightly modified it here and there so unsubdivide modifier doesnt work (also shape keys lmao) so you have to remove so many edge loops manually and keep checking the base mesh it was derived from and BAM same mesh outline, half as many tris and why can't booth creators have a tri count on heir page I don't wanna make every single part myself

If you got the money to blow Index is still the best overall package VR headset you can buy. Quest 2 is probably a more reasonable recommendation for a first time headset since it's much cheaper, but if you decide you want shit like fullbody it becomes as expensive as Index anyway.

Controllers suck at precise inputs but mouse and keyboard are confined to your desk. Tracked controllers take some of the benefits of both while providing additional presence and interaction with the virtual world.
PSVR used them, it was fine for third person games. It's probably tolerable for arcade racing too. First person is just where it sucks and it would have been even worse if the controller didn't have the light bar for tracking.
