Yes though extracting backpacks and vests/armour is a lot harder in tabor because they don't fit in your bag. Fenix (scavs) don't have armour except for the bosses but finding it around the place isn't hard. You have to find the pouches separate to the armour though and there's no pants pockets so reloading is a bitch if you don't come in with at least something.

Very short. Usually just enough to throw stuff on racks, reload, and eat/drink then bail again. 5-10 minutes though it's all active time because it's vr and not shuffling through menus so it's harder to tell.
>chads dunking
Surprisingly low. Only once did I get one shot headshot unawares by 5.56 from 50m. I have plenty of hours in pavlov and ITR so my natural senses for danger and vr gun abilities are pretty good. There are questlets so a fair few of the players are retarded and can't aim.

Partly true; the only game I've tested specifically is VRC. However, it's a general unity thing on flatgames too that the extra cache does a great job; and unity is a commonly used VR game engine. Unreal engine games and Unity engine games will make up most of your VR playtime most likely; and I haven't done any pavlov benchmarks but I guess we could.

Obviously I wouldn't replace it with a 5800x3, but earlier this year it came to my attention that 3D cache really helped some very specific use cases in games like Factorio for example. So I'm not gonna lie I got a bit of FOMO thinking "oh shit the upcoming 7800X3 is gonna make my cpu irrelevant for upcoming stuff"

It's a little bit of both. The larger cache will definitely benefit you in other VR games. But those other VR games don't NEED such a high-end CPU to begin with, it's not like you need a fantastic CPU to properly run Pavlov, Assetto Corsa, Boneworks, or VTOL.

>very few headsets have eye tracking at the moment
Wouldn't it be a big selling point for the VRC fanatics though? I'm not sure how much it would cost manufacturers to implement it in their headset. I mean, it's all using tobii eye tracking from what I understand so it can't be that much more expensive.

>Wouldn't it be a big selling point for the VRC fanatics though
Not sure I'd consider it a "big" selling point but I would definitely consider it a bonus. I'd probably buy a headset that had eye tracking if one existed that wasn't a straight downgrade to the valve index in all other categories

They tried with the Vive Pro Eye but it seems that most manufacturers either don't care, and HTC is retarded and no one bought the Vive Pro Eye because the Vive Pro is mad expensive so they stopped doing that
HP was going to make a version of the Reverb G2 with eye tracking but they're pulling out of the VR market now too. Probably our only hope is a CONSUMER-priced Meta or Valve headset with eye tracking built in. Every company is jerking themselves off with "business" headsets and it results in failure every time.

Sure larger cache is always a good thing, but people oversell the importance of it, it looks like anon has a 12700K so a 5800X3D would be a strict downgrade. VRC is one of the very few situations where a 5800X3D would make any sense right now. If you want to play any other games the cache isn't going to outweigh the fact that you are buying a older and slower CPU and it isn't even cheap.
Anonymous No.424033148 Replies: >>424033714

VRC's main issues are some CPU-bound tasks and VRAM usage, neither of which really benefit from foveated rendering. Unfortunately, every eye tracked headset on the market currently has some sort of downside that makes them not as good as just the unbeatable all-rounder that is the Index.
Vive's newer headsets have awful optical stacks and require vive console to be installed, which injects a bunch of broken api calls into steam vr, making it perform significantly worse, cause crashes, and even override your manually set openxr runtimes. Eye tracking also doesn't work with glasses or prescription lenses.
Quest Pro has the meta debuff ontop of also being uncomfortable for 90% of users without modifications. Also not LH-tracked by default.
Varjo Aero has amazing fidelity, but is $2000, doesn't have a microphone or speakers, and in some regions requires a subscription.
All of these are also like, over $1000 too.

I was more thinking of having your virtual eyes balls moving around in the game world similar to what FBT is to increase immersion more than a graphics rendering issue for VRC.
I'm looking at some headsets I'm interested in and when each eyes need to render 2000x2000 there's no way even my 4080 can do that without chugging so I thought that foveated rendering tech would be amazing to allievate the load.

This is pretty similar to how I feel. There are hundreds if not thousands of interesting people doing interesting things regularly depending on your interests but breaking into those circles and meeting those people does take effort. It sounds autistic but once you've done some networking you gain access to a lot more things to do. On any given day I might go down the friends list and there could be 15+ random small to massive instances ranging from people exploring to music events to people playing games to people just bumming around pugs/publics or even just people laying around chatting because they're friends.

Starting out if you don't have a hobby it can be more complicated/boring but some of my best experiences were had from just stumbling upon random interesting groups in a public map like Organism or hanging around chess pubs. Similarly "interesting" people tend to orbit each other so once you find someone you find interesting just hang around them off and on and you'll eventually find more people like them. Even if you just stay within the sphere of thread lads there are plenty of cool people here who can hold a convo on a million topics.

Anybody would be interested in participating in a /vrg/ Richard Burns Rally? I mean we could store replays too (as you can export replays in RBR) and have some kind of more long lasting metadata with it, even let people use their fav car instead of just strict classes

Probably something to explore after going through DR2 since there's enough content there to last a while; and trying to mainline two rally games at once is a recipe for burnout

Yeah I'm going to jump in DR2 for a while, my idea was to keep some data about the runs like replays and so on, I mean it would be cool to have some kind of compilation at some point, about the config I don't really care about being too hardcore, reduced damage with a lot of service centers seems fine for me as RBR is kinda bullshit sometimes

Also when it comes to recording replays if you look straight at them it's a composite of both left and right eye and since I record my VR view it's off centre. I should try recording the game window.

I haven't tried the version with the OpenComposite fix, but the accomodation fix is definitely worth using. Looked like this for me without it.
You might need to set overrideVegetationAtoC=0 in the config file if you run into issues with LoD breaking on the trees though.

The game, as much of what is wrong with it does a lot right with one being that it can can also allude to single player; the training mode is okay for a few hours if you are not looking to be a sweaty wow grinder type and just want to shoot some AI that becomes better with every update and the pvp is still viable as solo, not too many teamers blocking up server space and making it ark.

>>424094726
Solo missions are actually easier than co-op because the AI reaction speed and accuracy are nerfed a little but they're still lethal. The singleplayer versions of missions have a few extra modifiers like extra health and night time too. There's also some kind of wave mode but it was awful, better off forgotten honestly.

The big problem with the game is how few missions it has. The ones it does have are not exactly huge and sprawling but they do take a long time when you're checking every corner and room. Custom levels need to be a priority in my opinion, they'll be easy to make for the basic art style the game has. That's actually a minor problem too, the textures are so flat single color that you don't even have markings on your fire selector.

Wake the fuck up samurai because we're going exploring once again. NA Exploration is up at https://vrch.at/zxf24jub or on ASleepySnow . Same routine as usual, we world hop through my ever bulging exploration playlist until I get bored or someone distracts me with a chess instance. Come get lost, take some pictures, or tell me how I should stop hosting at the same time as pypy (I will not submit to M and his new impressive woober). I'll see you fucks on the other side.

Was another good run tonight, thanks for coming everyone. As per last week I'm looking to do an explo redux run featuring primarily old vrg meet/event worlds as well as old formerly popular vrc maps ideally from the 2017-2019 era. If you have suggestions please post or dm me. Gaia night suggestion counter :7. Appreciate it, until next time friends.

It was such a great time seeing everyone have fun with the unique map. A pleasure that I'd like to repeat some time. It was the biggest one that required a lot of people to make run and everyone chipped in in their own ways from prizes, world making, hosting, participating as contestant, audeince enthusiasm, announcers, sound boards, camera man.

It felt like the whole community mobilized for that one. Let's do it again some time

Contractors pace is what multiplayer shooter should orient on, ItR needs to be the standard when it comes to inventory management, BaS is the standard in vr sword fighting and its magic model should be the standard, Hellsplit is getting better with every update and can compete with BaS, HL2 VR is worlds better than Alyx in every department, beside graphics, E1 is too short, Tactical assault is really nice for the price with well made bots, the artstyle though, not my cup opf coffee,Ghost of Tabor is a bug ridden poorly optimized paid beta that has the potential to be the killer app VR needed for mainstream, Hubris is a beautiful game graphic wise and the swimming and diving is much fun, Bonelabs multiplayer should have shipped in house instead of needing a mod; skyrim is skyrim and Dragonfist and Sairento are work out apps

Depends if you're using head or hand-based locomotion, most of the time you'll want to walk forward if you're not strafing around enemies or something. You should be able to get a handle on it by the end of Alyx's campaign.
Anonymous No.424175780
>>424175154
There's still a bit of disconnect there, for now we have to use the control sticks to walk around. It's a big part of the motion sickness. That's why some games offer teleport locomotion, but in due time you will find teleporting to be obnoxious or unnecessary.
VR treadmills will be a nice thing in the future but it's not affordable for consumers yet.

Don't worry about the triggered dude; you just get used to it is all. VR movement is usually configured a number of ways: Head based movement, controller based movement and teleport. In head based, if you tilt the thumbstic forwards you will move towards where you are looking, to strafe you tilt the thumbstick to the side. Feels more natural since you can move and aim/look independently although it requires practice.
Controller movement is the same but 'up' is where the controller is pointing. This sucks and you should never use it.
Teleport move is just the cope method for people who haven't gotten over the vr motion sickness yet.
On that topic; you stop feeling sick after a while; people on ships also have a disconnecte between motion and their inner ear and they get over it. Just don't push too hard and try again later.

VRlet here, can you not use both the thumbsticks to move and the head movement for fine tuning?
I've watched some pavlov videos of guys with like 2k+ hours and they zoom around the maps faster than on CS and have crazy good accuracy when shooting people.
Anonymous No.424176097
>>424175971
Well yes, you can do that.
Pressing forward on the control stick will move you in the exact direction you're looking. You can move your head to turn a little or use the stick to strafe/walk diagonally a little.
Anonymous No.424176195 Replies: >>424176453
>>424175971
Head locomotion is where the direction of your head determines which direction is "forward" on your thumbstick, hand locomotion has the direction of your hand control that instead. Different games have different defaults for this, but most will let you switch in the settings.

tech brainlet question here.
Is there a soft limit to how long a PCVR cable you should use?
I wanted to have a cable that went from PC in my bedroom and down the stairs and into the living room where I have lots of space to move around in. I would need it to be at least 10 meters long, possibly even 15.
I already have it set up like this with ethernet cable because my modem is also downstairs.
My concern is, is there any data loss/lag introduced over a cable this long? My friend told me to avoid using long cables when charging stuff up because a lot of electricity gets "wasted" due to resistance along all the lenght, does the same apply to data? Even if not, would it mean my headset would charge more slowly?

The HDMI and USB parts should be fine, but I might raise an eyebrow at powering the headset that way.

Head locomotion is just like playing a flat FPS except instead of a right stick or mouse you have your head. It's what most people use in VR.
Hand locomotion is easier for non-gamers as pointing in the direction they want to move is simpler for them to grasp than adjusting the movement stick any time they turn their head.

People in game are still for the most part extremely pleasant. The discord is substantially less pleasant, mostly due to discord creatures that you'll find there but not in any game. And the thread is a schizophrenic hellscape.
But anyway, once you get in game you'll find that a lot of the positive energy still exists among people who actually play VR games, including those that play VRchat. It's mostly the thread that's become really bad.

Girls und Panzer.jpg2004x984
日本語字幕のアニメ Anime with Japanese subtitles is being moved from Monday to Sunday, same time 21:30CET - 15:30EST.

We'll have a break from Non Non Biyori and we'll start with Girls und Panzer season 1. We have a few beginners which said they'll be fine but if understanding is too low because there's too much military bullshit and to little cute girls we can switch to another series.

Reposting the ad since the new timeslot might be more accessible for some people.

There is only one way to learn a language, and that is through immersion. Forget about Anki, Nihongo maru, Genki, Imabi, tatsumoto, RTK, KKLC, Kanji Damage, Wanikani, Duolingo, Bunpro, Kodansha, Tobira, whatever you're using, language schools, courses, Italki, AJATT, JLPT. While these are helpful tools to speed up your learning process, if you don't use the language in practice, you will not get anywhere.

>I don't know enough Japanese to join.
I would say minimum is ability to read kana and have either 2000h of anime watched with E*glish subs (Your passive vocabulary should be high enough to roughly follow) or self study a bit of grammar and 1000 anki'd words.

>But I don't know how to read kanji.
The point of watching with subtitles is that you don't need to be able to read, as the lines are read out for you. With this, you will naturally start to remember the kanji without the need for boring memorization.

>Why is watching anime with subtitles the best thing for beginners?
You have visual, auditory and textual clues for inferring the actual meanings of words.

>$600 headset
>270,000 units sold
That's $162,000,000 in revenue, not bad.
Even with only a 10% margin they still got 16M
Their expectation of 2M sales were way too high for a product like that at that price range.

The original PSVR sold around 915k after I think five months. Sales for 2 might drop in the coming months, but so far I don't see how it's a disaster. VR is never going to sell like PS5, even if Sony makes an exclusive that is actually good unlike Horizon

Pretty sure the anon you replied to has a 3090, but I'm not sure what settings he's running.
>>423987760 and >>423988256 are the high preset on an Index with a 3090, which seems to work fine for me. I was running at very low before I upgraded though.

Kind of sad you're trying to label it like this since the thread is very nice with filters.
I and many others enjoy the thread and you're putting us down as if we are the fringe.
Consider you may just be a salty minority.

Recently a friend of mine unadded me because they liked me too much and thought we had grown apart. I didn't think this was the case, could you tell me why you run from the people you like? It's kind of the opposite of what you should do if you like someone no? Is it autism or some shit like that?

I don't want to feel cucked if you pick someone else. With someone I like that way, it's just impossible to be "just friends". I know very well what will happen if I stay and it is pain, I run to protect myself, from (You), one who has access to my heart, my poor little weak heart.

Well i run a 3070TI, may not be a 3090 but a game looking like Dirt Rally 2.0 shouldn't take such a massive GPU to even run in the first place

If you're on WMR, you can supposedly try OpenComposite to get rid of some of the overhead. Using the Oculus API might help if you're on a Quest.
The closest VR benchmark I could find was a 3080, and that was still getting occasional frame drops at High settings in VR, so 3070ti is close enough that Medium should be fine for it too though as long as you don't have MSAA turned way up.
If you're having trouble at Medium, might be a CPU bottleneck or something.
>a game looking like Dirt Rally 2.0 shouldn't take such a massive GPU to even run in the first place
Runs fine flat, VR performance is always going to be worse though. At least it's not as bad as ACC is.

ACC i have not ended up with issues, both Flat or VR but i cant shake the feeling that the first Dirt Rally ran better in VR. Or i cope either way

>ACC i have not ended up with issues, both Flat or VR
It's fine on my current setup, but it's always run worse for me in VR than anything else. The settings I used to need to get a somewhat playable framerate made it hard to tell what was actually going on.

Everyone has needs, and if they feel neglected, and like they are no longer valued or cared for, the easier way out is to just give up rather than continue dealing with the pain.
