How does VR actually work?
I want the really simply version.

I know two videos are fed into each of the LED/LCD screens in the HMD. But what exactly is the difference between those two video feeds?

Are they taken from the same angle? That doesn't make sense since the brain would just interpret that as a flat image, right? So is one camera for video slightly offset to give a stereoscopic effect?

What exactly is the distance for achieving this effect? Is it the IPD?

Looking for some buying advice. I've currently got an index and 4 base stations. Protip: if you get a "no objects to bake to" error, make sure you assign a texture in the UV image editor tab. I am trying to animate between two blendshape states on a model, something normal, and something expanded. I am using parameter drivers to add or remove from the float controlling it, but when I do it, it makes the transition instant.

If it's just moving between two states, smaller and bigger, you can just have the transitions set up having exit time, and you can pick how long feels right. There's no major differences aside from the watch. The hand interactions are somewhat less janky now and I don't think anything fell through the floor in an hour. The gun rack works the majority of the time, and nothing sticks to the inside of the wall, but you do have to re-grab the weapon if it won't attach. Syringes in the knife pouch still disappear on scene changes. I don't think anything got worse, at least.

I don't see the game in any of the VR lists, you can't search for it and I didn't get an email about the release after having it wishlisted. I don't think it's their fault but I've never seen something like this on Steam. It's there, you can go to the page using the direct link or from Google, you can buy it but it's not anywhere else on the Steam store or search pages. It even worked right up until launch. Normally a game being temporarily delisted either can't be bought or the store page can't be accessed.

I tried out the cars and the alpine and the escort were definitely the worst. The alpine is too twitchy and hard to recover from oversteer which happens constantly, and the escort is a bit hard to steer and also surprisingly slow. Default booth is jap quality optimization: EVERYTHING is 4k and split into as many materials as possible. Default kikyo is 155MB, default selestia is 200MB+, it's a nightmare. And so easily fixable by setting the imports to 2k.

Hyperdash was like that for me. The first lobby was barely an hour long and I forgot to refund it while waiting for the next session.
Vail had a open overflow lobbies the first few times it was played but it was obvious the game would die fast. Everyone seemed to agree that the game was missing something. They took my free copy away so I can't even play it anymore.
Tactical Assault VR will return but the game is so light on content right now that overplaying it will kill future interest, it really needs custom maps. If Breachers hadn't just released today would have been a good day to play it.
EU seem to be slightly better than NA at hosting games more than once.

My experience with breachers can be perfectly summarized with one situation I had while playing that game.

Every single hyped up multiplayer release has been absolute trainwreck so far. Vail was going too tryhard on e-sports shit and died. Tactical Assault doesn't have enough replayable coop content and PvP is joke. Gambit is absolute trainwreck and questified beyond repair. Tabor tried so hard to copy Tarkov it became the exact same broken garbage. And now Breachers got questified and didn't fix a single problem beta had.
TAVR and GoT being the only somewhat serviceable multiplayer games that have chance of not being dead in one week is really sad considering how light first is on content and how broken second is.

In a way those are all being hurt by Quest.
Vail trying to appeal to a niche within PCVR at a time when standalone is swallowing up all growth in VR.
Gambit has so much wrong with it I don't know where to start but it clearly got a huge visual downgrade and typical for Quest games the AI is awful.
TAVR is held back hard by Quest hardware. 8 NPCs max and no textures so they could get lighting, at risk of being simplified further because it's so limiting.
Tabor is the same. Garbage AI and even the PCVR version of the Island map looks atrocious.
Breachers is weirdly the opposite. The art style makes it look good but they needlessly simplified the weapon mechanics.

Typical for VR games they're all light on content and rely on you replaying the same shit dozens of times to get your money's worth.

We had one heck of a time trying to get the map to work, and the map isn't great. I don't know which retard designed the "muh immersion" thing where one dude has to walk in and setup the jukebox before anyone else can even enter, but it's awful (and also a bit laggy).
There's an older one that lacks the drink mixing minigame but it's better overall IMO
