Holomeet world sucks but at least it has best girl in it. The cutouts weren't even done properly they all have this annoying white border around them.

As I have in previous years, I will be hosting a meetup on Thanksgiving for anyone who wants to show up. We've had good turnout the last few years so hopefully we'll have a nice comfy time this year as well.

I've upgraded my computer since last year so I can show everyone more easily, but people have also become a lot more lazy about optimization since last year too.

I actually never used my Quest 2 as a PC headset, and haven't used Virtual Desktop so I can't really compare them. I think you can probably Sideload Virtual Desktop though. Pico Streaming Assistant worked fine for me so far. The one thing to note is you don't get Eye or Face Tracking with Virtual Desktop on Pico yet, I believe that is only on Quest Pro so far.

Dirt Rally 2.0 works fine on gamepad and it'll probably be on sale soon. If you get hooked, you're probably still going to want a wheel eventually though.
I don't really know of anything that's designed around VR controls. There's a virtual wheel thing you can try if you want something like that, although don't expect anything nearly as good as VTOL since it's not built into the games.

Definitely Dirt Rally, this game plays wonderfully on a controller. Depending on your levels of autism, you may or may not want to try out assetto on a controller - it's doable, but you have to play with settings a lot to get it right, do quite a bit of getting used to it once set up correctly, and then kinda accept that you can't drive on very fast tracks. Regardless, it is doable.

Crashing, scripts not working softlocking you, doors not opening, half the scientists being made female for diversity reasons, no Blue Shift or Opposing Force or Uplink, no weapon two handing, no compatibility with mods, and a personal favorite of mine is the climbing constantly gets you killed because of how wonky it is.

Meanwhile lambda1vr has none of those problems. Team Beef actually knows what they are doing unlike the retarded German dude who made HLVR. I'd save yourself the headache and play lambda1vr and check out some mods on the way.

Anybody ever had an issue with vrchat rotating the eye bones 180 degrees around when you try to set up eye tracking? As soon as I type anything into the rotations it flips around 180 instantly. If I compensate for this rotation and add 180 degrees to it to make it look normal in the editor, it is still flipped around in game.

Make sure the eye and head bone are both rotated in the exact same orientation, this might mean you might have to clear rolls on all your bones. Ensure 0,0,0 is the default rotation for forward and go from there.

Looks like my headbone roll is -170 degrees, while the eye bones i made are at 0. Just to be clear, am I setting the roll to be the same? or am I rotating the bones around the z axis? Or both

There is a clear rolls option in Blender, open the F3 search menu and search for clear rolls
You can also in armature edit mode edit the bone roll directly. rotating around the Z axis works but is less precise. just make sure the eye and head bones both have the exact same orientation (pointing it straight up is easiest)

Skill issue. I played Assetto when it came out using a PS3 controller. It took a moment to adjust settings but it was very doable. Two of my friends played it with an Xbox controller before they bought their wheels. I heard the gamepad support is better than ever but I wouldn't know since I have no intention of ever using one again. Thanks for hosting! It was great and very cool. I would love to see this more even as just an occasional sort of format to use for the meets. It's nice for people who want to see some different worlds while also hopefully not being too annoying to people who just want to chat. desu I felt kind of exhausted by the end, but I think that's partly due to me feeling the event pressure of "oh I need to be here for the entire duration" as opposed to how I mentally treat getting on for regular meets.

The train map itself was very comfy and it seems easy to herd people for map drops as well as naturally encouraging people to spread out in a way that helps toaster pc havers deal with a full instance while also still feeling like a populated world as you move around.

If you just bought Asseto - grab Assetto Corsa Content Manager - a better launcher and mod manager: https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html To install mods: just drag and drop zip files from mega onto the Content Manager windows and click on the hamburger menu on top right. Highly recommend installing stable custom shader patch and 7-zip plugin in Content manager.

What is the end game of VRChat? Is it sitting in front or a mirror listening to music?

Does anyone actually have those FBT trackers that don't lose tracking through blankets? Do they actually work?

Apparently the RTX5000 series is maybe over a year away so I don't see much point in waiting. I'm currently on a 2070 - is the 4060ti 16gb the best upgrade option? I want the big VRAM and it seems like 4060ti is the only option (at £450) besides spending £1k+ on a 4080.

I found a really stupid workaround for it.
For anyone else who ever has this issue - it's a problem with unity being stupid and ignoring very minute vertex movements. If you set the unit scale to a large value (like 100) in the import options, it fixes it. Then you can just scale your avatar back down in the scene. Unity moment

You get higher res with VD which is really noticeable (about 25% more) compared to the streaming assistant but obviously you won't get the eye/face tracking data passed through.
It also alleviates some of your issues where it auto-connects to your pc and lets you boot games in a jiffy and the only obnoxious part is setting up the boundary (which still does get remembered 90% of the time).
Like you mentioned I don't think there's a way for mixed tracking to just work without breaking so it's very much 3pointer gaming headset. Also you didn't mention anything about wireless and easy of comfort while playing game which I feel is massive upside to all the native steamvr headsets right now.
All in all the picos are pretty much useless now since the Quest 3 and Pro do the exact same thing but better on the software side and the price difference is justified. I still love mine but then I'm no vrc addict.
