/vrg/ - Virtual Reality General #1525

I am looking for hosts for all timezones for a saturday in late december, currently leaning towards the 29th. just DM or email me with your timezone and VRChat username
We currently have one volunteer for NA but backup hosts is never a bad idea in case plans change.
The hosts can either go to the hub world and take everyone through the portals there which will be public portals (because as far as I know you can't put friends+portals in worlds) or I will send them a list of the worlds for them to favourite and drop friends+ portals to.

You're running out of time if you want to make a world. Try and get your worlds submitted a week before the 29th, and preferably submitted to labs to make it easier for hosts to drop portals to them
The theme is winter, anything even vaguely winter related is fine and all skill levels are welcome. You can submit your world by sending your world ID to [email protected], vrbuild on Discord or post it in the thread

It has a game mode that plays like the original FNAF along with a bunch of mini games and different endings depending on what you do. You apply Roxy's makeup in her mini game.

>>457961389
Well back in your day was COVID and back in your day we did not have borderline rando Mahjong or movie/anime trannies taking up the weekdays.

>no PCVR version of Asgard's Wrath 2
Weird that they didn't bother doing a downgraded port or redo of the first game for the Quest 2/3 first, given how basically no one played the first game due to Oculus Store exclusive. (ReVive users are a minority of a minority)

>>457961892
It's a game fully owned by Zucc so of course he's not making a PCVR version now that he's disowned it. If only Valve still cared enough to make new VR games to compete. I'd take Half Life 3/Left 4 Dead 3 VR over a new headset honestly.

>>457962295
If I had a Quest 3 I'd bother with the sequel, but I'm not going to play an ass-looking version of it on my Quest 2, which I use near exclusively for wireless PCVR. Least the AssCreed game has a chance of coming out on PC at a later date.

OCE VRFPS tonight in around ~12 hours (10PM AEDT).
Breachers like usual.

Repostan bc literal last post b4 migration lol

>>457961469

Is FNAF help wanted a remake or something?
like does it replace playing any of the main games?

play vivecraft!
the server is still up, and was updated a week or so ago with some new mods we haven't gotten a chance to check out. Going to log in and check it out tonight

Im using the bobo m2 with a custom adapter I built that I sell. Don't think I have experienced any comfort issues. Haven't got to do a lot of testing yet though.

>>457961892
Any non-shill impressions/reviews of AW2 yet? I'm doubtful it's as good as the IGN review says, few RPGs that last 90+ hours are consistent in quality

>>457971056
It's not out till tomorrow.

Trying to use Virtual Desktop to watch some 3D videos on my Quest 3, but every time I go into it and bring up the desktop it just starts flooding my PC with random inputs. All sorts of shit, a thousand instances of calculator, Edge, whatever the fuck. If a text box happens to be selected it will just fill it with all sorts of characters. No idea what's going on, it never did this before.

Cycling hour starting at 9pm ET (very soon)!

FYI the bikes need FBT and some sort of pedaling equipment

NA Sign Language meet will be starting in just about an hour from now at 10pm EST

I'm back to hosting this week since I'm home from traveling. Pretty funny seeing the group picture last week with the quality fingerspelling going on.

Golf in one hour!

The hate for the Quest 3 strap is severely overblown. I played for like 6 hours today and it felt great the whole time. Even the CV1 was uncomfortable to me after like 1 hour. The Q3 facial interface didn't even leave marks on my face like CV1 did. I stuck a 10k mah battery on the back to weigh it down though.

>>457960563
Some like the BOBOVR, other recommend the KIWI one more over it.
Imo both are good, BOBOVR has the battery plus, BUT since the XR2 gen2 consumes more power, the bobovr batteries output cant keep up entirely with the Q3, so even using those batteries, the Q3 will eventually shut down. I would say its better to wait until a better output bobovr battery gets released. Now if you have a 3d printer, you could print an adapter for making the rear more comfy, and some have external powerbank mounts, for the Q3 you will need a 20W output one to keep up with no problem.

>>457984442
>>457967823
it's over
We explored some dungeons and encountered something that crashed the server, and now it won't start, and I'm retarded so I don't know how to fix it. This is a perfect example of the multitude of reservations I had about adding mods to the server. It's dead for now until I either figure out how to fix it, or start a new one.

thanks for playing anyway frens

People in the game tend to camp the extraction zones so they can take the shit you slaved over instead

General awareness will stop that from happening. Keep an eye on the horizon. Stop look listen before you move. Stay in cover and concealment. Take note of what is behind you and how it would look to someone looking directly at you. It isn't just what's in front of you that affects your visibility, skylining yourself will make you a target. If you break line of sight in an engagement, take the opportunity to change position to catch them unaware on a flank. And most importantly if you get a bad feeling, listen to it and move away from danger.

Just get the cheap GOMVR strap from aliexpress and attach this battery to the back with this wire
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H96FWY9
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09176JCKZ
The battery power is basically exactly enough power to keep the Q3 completely even, it's perfect. The size and weight are also perfect. Tbh this is way better than any of the battery straps and it lasts way longer and it's cheaper. You could go with the 20k mah battery but I thought it would be too big and heavy.

>>457997743
Never used jellyfin but I'm pretty sure it uses HLS so you can probably just use a free cloudflare proxy which takes like five minutes to set up and point at your stuff. Ignore redditors screeching about how it's against cloudflare ToS; cloudflare isn't going to give a shit about like one guy doing sub gb amounts of traffic.

>>458001058

So I have a ripped 3D Blu-ray ISO that plays in 4XVR but I'm pretty sure it's not playing in 3D (clicking the cube shows 2D highlighted in blue). Clicking through the 3D options doesn't play a viable image. Any thoughts?
I ripped the ISO myself via makemkv backup function. It's my first time testing this out, and it's the only 3D Blu-ray I have on hand.

Guess I should mention that I'm looking for quest exclusives only, if it's available on steam then I'll grab it there.

>>458004610

My 3 options seem to be Assassin's Creed Nexus, Lego Bricktales, and Arizona Sunshine 2. Which one should I get?

>>458005735
Cubism, although it's a puzzle title. Zero reason to get it on PC if you have it a Quest, unless you plan to migrate off of the Meta platform at some point and still want to play it.

Assetto Corsa /vrg/ cruise session at the usual time:
Friday at 9 PM EST (~13 hours from now)
Server name: Scarebro
Password: vganon
Track: Shutoko Expressway
>Features: traffic, track teleports, car recoloring via in-game chat app (works for most cars)
Live weather data is disabled for this event. Real time is currently enabled, but let me know if you anons would prefer having the sun set during the session like last time.
Voice communication via the /vrg/ Mumble server:
Address: voice.vrg.party
Prerequisites:
>The Game (duh) and probably its DLCs, namely the Japanese car pack
>Content Manager (you may need to update this before updating CSP if you haven't in a while)
>Custom Shaders Patch v0.2.0+ (you should update this before updating Sol/Pure)
>Sol (free) or Pure (payware) weather control suite - preferably the latter which offers better clouds, performance, and customization
>~30-35 GB of free disk space for mods (assuming you're starting from scratch)
>The SRP v0.9.3 PTB1 track and their car pack from their website: https://shutokorevivalproject.com/
Links to content are provided in the server description in the Content Manager server browser. Most of the mods (namely the cars) will be mirrored here:
Once again, make sure you have CSP 0.2.0 or higher installed, as it is now required for the 0.9.3 Public Test Build. If you have an older PTB version installed, you must delete it before installing the new version or you will have problems. Please check that you have all required content, are able to connect, and have no performance issues before the event starts.

vr adoption will not happen if it just keeps being an expensive peripheral for consoles and pcs
the only thing that bothers me is asgard wrath 2 is only for the quest
zucc is fucking retarded for doing this

What are some good trackers to replace 2.0 trackers with?
Can I mix and match trackers? I could just buy one replacement, since I'm losing hope of unbricking the one that's fucked

Anyone got a quest 3 can you open the Prime Video app and tell me if you have white dot artifacts in the darkness while watching a movie after the lights go off? I don't know what the hell happened, it was fine before. Either my headset is breaking or they updated something that broke

>>458042773
3.0s from HTC.
Yes you can mix and match any objects in the steamVR/lighthouse verse so long as they're compatible.

>>458042902
(IE you can't mix and match a 1.0 (grey button) tracker with 2.0 lighthouses because it won't even work, but a 3.0 tracker with 1.0 lighthouses can be mixed with a 2.0 or 1.0 tracked object and work fine)

I heard you guys hate Virtual Desktop
Why is that?

>>458043046
We don't?
Any hate would come from that the guy added anti-piracy stuff and people have to actually buy it now to get the latest features. Software itself is still best on the market.

>>458043046
Power tripping dev that has barely passable coding skill gets uppity to own the pirate and implement soft-drm where your client phones home all the time to make sure it's legit.
Basically the entire software's worth isn't exactly how good it is but how bad/annoying the alternatives are.

It's Friday already, how'd that happen? 10 hours from now, tonight's the night 9pm EST, NA Friday night Mahjong. see you there champs

>>458041125
Think about it a moment, dude. The Quest's are Meta's gaming consoles, and they need a killer app to encourage sales. Making AG2 available for PCVR would be fucking retarded from a business perspective.

>>458045236 (you)
Imo, it would have made more sense if it was Quest 3 exclusive, optimising it for that platform only.

Yeah, that's it.
The scope and gameplay are fine but it felt a bit repetitive by the end, something about the ubisoft formula, objectives, etc, doesn't sit right with me.

>>458059768
Dance Dash if you have fbt, base charts sucks but it has Dancerush Stardom converts
Airtone is my favourite gameplay-wise, but I'm biased against beat saber
Haven't tried it myself but Audica seems pretty solid
VRChat have a few rhythm games, like Resonark (which is MaiMai if it was good). Self plug but I also made a stepmania reader for vrchat a while ago, for ddr it's not ideal but for ParaParaParadise it works pretty well
If you have access to arcade data, you can also play MaiMai and Wacca with a virtual arcade

>>458051562
I played it for about 2 hours. It's basically VR New God of War, looks really good for a standalone game. It's fun but I'd probably like it better if it didn't have any combat. I like the puzzles and exploration but I really don't like VR melee combat that much. I think you get more ranged attacks later on though.

>>458060560
If you want opinions on those elements, the combat is fairly bad and defensive but the climbing is good.
You can skip most combat by using and reusing throwing knives and arrows.
I don't know how to and can't be added to make a webm.

>>458046367

>>458061269

>>458060908
Man, it's a pain in the ass to record, edit and convert stuff. When I play VR shit I just want to game and not worry about clipping a cool moment or whatnot. I don't make money out of this.

>>458062042
I understand it’s okay, was just wondering if there were any clips that float around the general I’ve missed
That’s another thing I like about the quest it’s very easy to stream and record stuff even tho I haven’t taken much advantage of the recording part

>Asgard's Wrath 2 is genuinely good and isn't a two hour long tech demo

It's fucking over.
Is Amazon the best place to get a Quest 3 right now? Are any of the bundles worth it?

>>458065705
Don't get a bundle, pirate everything. Don't give a single extra cent to Meta.

I'm using Steam Link with a Quest Pro and Index controllers and if I don't move my headset for like 10 seconds my avatars goes to AFK animation. Is there any way to prevent this?

>>458065705
Whack. I never felt the need to buy a system just for one game in my 25 years of playing vidyagaems.
I know that systemsellers or "killer app" are big in the mindset of devs or console warlords but maybue i'm just too dumb for it because it never affected me.

Facebook claims that it's 60+ hours, but no one has beaten all of it yet. The first game was over 20 hours for me so it the new game being bigger probably isn't bullshit.

Is that Labyrinthine game any good? It's the only one out of this bunch I haven't heard of.

>>458070446
You wander in hedge mazes 99% of the time trying to orient yourself using glowsticks and compass and trying to solve puzzles while being chased by zombieghosts. I played about 90mins with a friend and we both refunded it after clearing the second map.

I like it so far. The puzzles aren't bad and the combat being physics based makes it better than the first game.

I haven't tried the roguelike mode yet. I at the very least like that the roguelike stuff is second to the campaign. Too many VR games are ONLY roguelikes and get boring fast as a result. I like that games like Doom Eternal, Hitman 3, and God of War Ragnarok added their roguelike modes a year after the games games came out with a full fledged campaign, for free. Indies use roguelike as a crutch to claim that their games have infinite content so that they can get away with not having a real campaign.

From playing Asgard's Wrath 2 for like 5 hours I can tell this game is going to be insanely long. Just judging by how long it will take to level up to fill up the skill trees of the first character feels like it'll take forever... then I realized there are going to be multiple characters with different skill trees.

>>458088751
Also, I was confused why the battery was not being drained very fast and why the headset wasn't even getting warm... Apparently the Q3 version isn't even enhanced you have to use a 3rd party app to boost the resolution. It only uses like 60% of the GPU by default. What the fuck LMAO. Why did they include a free game with Q3 and not even boost the resolution?

Event starts in 10 minutes. I hope the anon that was in the server an hour ago was able to resolve their VRAM usage issue. If other anons have trouble, I will lower the traffic density and reduce the amount of cars to help alleviate any performance problems (will require a server restart). I would suggest trying presets off videos on YouTube; most of them are focused on Nvidia users. But here is a wall of text of things you can try if you'd rather try to DIY it:
>If you use Reshade: remove it
>Disable any apps not in use (Developer apps, Crew Chief, Drone Cam, etc.)
In AC video settings:
>If using Oculus, try setting the rendering mode to Oculus - works best for me, I don't use SteamVR with Assetto
>Lower shadow and reflection resolutions or disable them
>Set reflections rendering frequency to one face per frame - static will save more fps but looks worse in shaded areas like tunnels
>Lower post-processing quality, disable motion blur, depth of field, heat shimmer
>Set world details to High or lower
>Disable smoke generation (CSP has its own smoke system)
>Consider using a lower window resolution - should only effect your monitor and the game UI, not your VR headset (also see if enabling AMD FSR in CSP graphics adjustments if running lower than native resolution)
In CSP settings:
>Disable Extra FX module (huge performance hit)
>Disable Grass FX, Particles FX, Skidmarks FX, Brake Disc FX, Shadowed Wheels, Tyres FX, Music integration module, etc.
>Enable Single Pass Stereo and/or Single YEBIS Pass in the VR Tweaks module
>In Weather FX, try checking "Update sky in reflections less often" - consider disabling "extra clouds fidelity"

>>458106934
>If you keep Particles FX on, see if enabling "render in half resolution in VR" and "simplified shading" help
>In CSP General Patch Settings, check that chunks optimization is set to Basic. Additionally, look for "Adjust frame time to improve smoothness" and "Flatten nodes" in this module and see if having these checked help as well - results are more subjective though, I think
Honestly it would probably be best to just try different video and CSP presets off of YouTube as there are just so many settings to tinker with - there are plenty of configs out there and most of them are centered around Nvidia users. Just backup your settings in case you don't like theirs.
>If using AMD GPU: disable everything in Radeon driver settings - none of it is helpful
>If using Nvidia: disable MSAA in AC video settings and have your video drivers manage anti-aliasing instead
Can't really give specific advice on that last one as I haven't touched Nvidia in 20 years. Maybe someone who runs AC on Nvidia can chime in?

I played like 6-7 hours on my 10k mah battery and it never even ran out. It usually runs out at around 2.5-3 hours.

Maybe good for memeing, but seeing one's own arms are important to the experience, regardless of telekinesis. I could see someone having this as a side avatar.

I like that Drinking Night has a credits room if you turn 180 degrees at spawn. That's a neat way to put credits.

You need to copy from the gpu memory regardless

Nevermind. If the shader already says "high-load" I expect it to be pretty bad.

You should just watch acerola's vid on shell texturing. TLDW the main concern is overdraw for the gpu.
Depending on how many shells you have for the fur you may execute your shader equal to that amount for a single pixel.
It really only gets that bad when you are up close though.

How would you rate a >$100 Pico 4 as my entry into standalone vr? Or would it still be better to get a Quest 2 for a similar price?

It'd be via trading in stuff to get it for that much.

>>458146312
Pretty optimal; it's a great entry

>>458146474
For purely standalone? Quest 2 would be better just because of the better software library.

Oh hye i'm also trying to decide between these two and from what i've found out via research, this anon >>458146590 has got the right of it, which if i'm being honest kinda sucks because the Pico is definitely the better system on the technical side of things, more comparable to the quest 3 than the 2 in that regard. It's just that the ecosystem and catalog of games just isn't their compared to the Quest. Which isn't to say it's got no games that'd be worthwhile but it's such a smaller number than what quest has got going on.

>>458146908
Very fun! Thanks Santas for the gifts!

I just don't see why you would even participate in secret santa if you have no creative skills honestly.
That's why it died really, we needed a tier system for effort like /a/ does with price tiers so you don't spend 3 weeks on a model just to get a half finished shitpost.

>>458152869
do white elephant instead next year then

>>458152869
I disagree, it's needed on /a/ because they are spending money and it stops someone sending some random tat and getting expensive anime titties
But for something like this it wouldn't work, how do you even quantify effort? someone might throw something amazing together in 5 mintues while someone else spends weeks working their ass off making something basic.
It should be about gift giving, not gift receiving

>>458152869
first year I got a poorly made artwork that made me laught my ass off.
second year I got something BIG!
Third was pretty mid
This year, I left santa to to whatever, because I am open for suprices.

It's not about creativity, it's about giving something personal. And if you really struggle with a gift you can always drop a 20 bucks on some funny art comission and give them that.
I do like the Cards they did this year and hopefully it will be done again next year. So if you don't want to spend 3 weeks on a model, spend like 30 minutes on a personal card and get one in return.

Hi, friendly reminder that next ParaPara training session is today at 17:00CET/16:00UTC/11:00EDT/2h30 from now ( or just double check the time here: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?p0=195&iso=20231216T17&year=2023&month=12&day=16&hour=17&min=0&sec=0&msg=ParaPara59) in VRC.
> What is ParaPara? Why are we doing training sessions? ...
ParaPara is a type of dance usually associated to eurobeat songs, mostly focusing on arm movements (and cool poses). The main goal is to actively learn ParaPara choreography and eventually make content out of it (videos, events, performances), but anyone is free to join no matter if they want to take it seriously or just as a fun thing.
More info there: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hwT64HqRofEHIBqdlFWB-INMAwz14gx547Z9CHodRy0/edit?usp=sharing
> What's planned this time
Last session of the year, and with christmas coming, we'll do a manepara (pypy style) session on christmas songs and maybe just going through the songs we've trained through the year.
Oh by the way, in case you missed it, we released a new video recently https://youtu.be/WiAgMmIqLuI
As usual newcomers are always welcome and we'll adapt the session depending on who joins.

You can hook it up to a PC with steamlink or virtual desktop and play PCVR games; so it's a real headset. Pico 4 is better but the quest 2 has 'standalone' games.

>>458160813
Yeah,
>I will not buy the good value headsets due to ethical reasons
>I will not buy the other headsets because they are not good value

WELL LOTS OF CHOICES YOU LEFT YOURSELF HUH

I listed those headsets because they were the only ones worth buying, and if you discount all of them there's nothing left.

Quest 3 : Good headset.
Quest 2: Decent, cheap
quest Pro: Eyetracking whoa, on the used market it's like $700.
Pico 4: Great PCVR headset for the price
Pico4 Pro: Same as above but with eye tracking (need warranty on this chinkshit though)
Beyond: Very light, good screen, good mic, expensive
Varjo Aero: Expensive, great everything but audio

No other headsets are worth money. Someone will shill vive headsets and they're worth considering but they usually have more expense and less features than other headsets.

>>458161050
Oh right and:

The Index: Got everything right but the visuals have aged compared to other headsets, and no eyetracking.

>>458161050
>Varjo Aero: Expensive, great everything but audio
It's not great. FoV is too small. And too expensive for what it does. And wire.
>Beyond: good screen
No. Comfort and mic 10/10, everything else eww. No eye tracknig. Plus wire of course.

>>458161578
>muh wire
Wire is a tradeoff, lower latency, no battery management and no video encoding artifacts for having to spend a braincell on keeping an eye on the cable. Which is a significant number of braincells for some people I admit.

>>458161116
>Index
that thing is 5 fucking years old
it has no right to still be a contender at all, yet it is

>>458161725
Lower latency is a meme.
With eye tracking, encoding artifacts are a meme too.

Wire-only is simply unacceptable for a 2023 headset, and we are almost in 2024.

Refresh the page and take a look at the address bar.

>>458161963
I would still buy a wired headset if it got everything else right; like index audio/FoV + Aero screen and eyetracking + index price + nice lenses. Wireless is a nice to have, while the other things are something I'd actually buy a headset for.

Thanks all.

>>458162602
Uh if you're going standalone you really should buy a quest; the pico standalone stuff is basically nothing. You're going to have nothing to play

I really have been enjoying my pico 4 pro desu. The eye tracking is awesome. Face tracking is garbage, I dont even bother using it, but the actual headset itself is great. You basically HAVE to mod it with bobovr shit to have good battery life, but honestly it's a game changer. I didn't think it would take over my index, but it very quickly did.

>>458162747
Yeah I get that but it's got enough games for my entry and I prefer it to the quest at the end of the day.

How do you actually do things in H3VR? Every scenario I join its just an empty map with a couple of shitty targets, a gun spawner and thats it. No way of spawning enemies or if there are, its bland as fuck. Like the snowy map with bunkers, giant open spaces with the odd enemy miles apart from each other.
Take and Hold too. Just giant empty rooms with fuck all to kill and no start button, what am I missing? Getting really bored, I just want to kill things and all I ever do is wander about in nothingness

>>458181454
try take and hold.

>Take and Hold too. Just giant empty rooms with fuck all to kill and no start button,

>>458181454
>>458181642
look at the map on your wrist, it shows you what direction supply stations and hold points are. more npcs spawn in patrols and hold rooms as you take more hold points. you have to slap the floating blue thing to start a hold.
pick one of the numbered 'seeds' on the menu at the start rather than random, random usually makes you run for miles to get to the next hold point.
also try return of the rottweiners and meat grinder.
some of the sandbox maps have an npc spawner too so you can place enemies then turn on ai and do whatever. grillhouse has one but i forget what other maps do

>>458182072

ADHD and poor social skills means they have plenty of available conversations to absolutely fail at and move on to the mext

>>458186910
I simply sit in a corner and talk to the 2-3 people I know while watching everyone else

>>458187040
please dont personally attack me like that.

Why is Quest Pro audio so quiet whenever I use virtual desktop or steam link? It sounds loud enough when I'm just using it normally but even on 100 volume in windows on the VD/steam link virtual audio its pretty quiet.
I tried buying those 3d printed audio things to see if that'd make it louder but they didnt really do that much
Anyone else have this issue?

>>458187714
lmao, my secret santa was amazing
guess it's just luck of the draw! better luck next year!

why is it when i go in play mode i cant move my avatar in unity? neither rotations or transforms work

>>458194072
you should kiss the barrel of a gun faggot :3

>>458194340
grab bones, not body mesh. in play mode, bones are constantly doing their job to align mesh into skeleton shape

>>458194072
jesse, what the fuck are you talking about?

>>458194481
i am grabbing the armature bones :/

>>458162209
i really think fov depends on the cushion desu. some are closer to the screen than others which gives higher fov

>>458194620
Huh, weird. And I'm assuming you grab some critical bones, like neck, or head, or torso. Then it could be some kind of a script, or a constraint, or whatever else that updates the position in play mode, perhaps? Is avatar working fine in game?

>>458194854
The rendered is what the headset driver physically reports games to render. It doesn't depend on your faceshape.

>>458195069
i dont really get it but alright

Extra shout-out to Yuki, nicest guy I've known here, even if I'm in a funk, he always brightens my day and doesn't scoff at what I do. And he's also an excellent event coordinator.

How do grown, adult men actually enjoy spending time with other grown, adult men while all pretending to be uwu cute anime girls, erping with each other, etc? Do none of you feel even a slight discomfort knowing what you all truly are?

>>458199830
eventually the feeling passes, and in that there is freedom

Stupid question but does the official link cable work with the quest 3? I had some guy at the store tell me that it doesn't so I didn't buy it. Doesn't make sense. Isn't it literally just a better USB cable?

>>458199830
no

>>458199207
Are you the same gondola I saw before in this thread?
I wanna squeeze you tight and tell you it's okay. You got power within yourself, man, you know this, but only you can get it. I hope you do get it.
