Build NEW and OLD friendships alike through around the whole town/city and unexpected locations with people you usually don't get to talk with.

Question/Action cards are available on the table in the middle for when you don't know what to talk about. Currently there are 2008+ cards from 2019+2020+2021+2022 valentines.
(Looking for more questions/actions when possible, so please reply to this post on a question you think might be good for breaking the ice or continuing conversations)

Archery red: Okay archery game. Lacks some options; it gets a bit entertining when the action kicks in and stuff starts shooting back,but it lacks depth. I span around a lot so pay attention to the cable, and my left arm is sore holding the bow. If you like bow shooting this is a bow shooting game.

Beat the Beats:
Beatsaber but punching. Main complaint is that the blocks are basically just timing based: only their type matters, the rest is timing. There's no position mods; at least not in the demo.

Blackforge: Pretty cosy crafting game. Works well enough for hands on crafting of stuff but it's janky and hard to work metal into shapes you want.Careful with the tutorial; whenever you're being asked to do something specifically make sure you do it in the order they want.

The damage types are pretty hard to do; I was trying to make a hammer but because of the pointy edges it was doing piercing damage so was no good as a hammer, I ended up grinding it into an ugly blob, which also didn't work so I ended up just using the cube without any modifications and that worked fine

Chernobyl Again: Time travel puzzle game this time russian. I found the controls painful and the puzzles frustratiarhcery

Dyschronia: A VN basically with some running around. Not super appealing DESU

Escape Simulator VR demo: actually pretty polished, has a multiplayer that might be fun for escape room antics.

I've done the 3 demo levels with a buddy and it was great. Instant buy, especially if it's 15 bucks like the flat version.

Also Vampire The Masquerade: Justice is a great Dishonored VR game.

It also scratches that Hitman itch, about fucking around with npc guards: throwing random items at them, climbing around, setting up traps or just straight mirdering everyone.

Runs great, looks good, has enough content is cheap. Highly recommend.

It's a waste of time to try appealing to VRChat users. For example adding custom avatar support in your VR game, it's a significant amount of work to implement well but would it really help the game enough to justify the investment?
Those who are willing to play other games already do so and can tolerate not using their avatar.
Those who require their avatar are so addicted to VRChat they won't leave unless your game is extremely hyped and they're still going to complain if their avatar doesn't look or feel like they're used to.

Completely different games.
TAVR is tacticool co-op. Graphics are simple but the sound design and VR mechanics are good. There's PvP too but the primary appeal is in the 4/8 player co-op.
It's actually pretty hard even when you have a big group of retards running around. The AI isn't the smartest but the low TTK makes them deadly if you don't check your corners or have any cover.
The only downsides right now are the limited map and enemy variety.

just did a full battery of tabor on Quest 2, can’t tell if I’m just really shit or if it’s mad janky but I could barely hit anything… generally I’m pretty good in VR shooters, play a lot of pavlov and breachers. did have a couple weird glitches where my gun would snap to pointing at the ground. That's enough to get you started and as long as you're pc is wired via ethernet to the router then it should handle 150mbps streams just fine without noticeable network lag.

Who cares about your internet speed. You are not connecting to internet but two devices in your room.

For good wiress signal you need wifi 5 or wifi 6 router/accespoint, connected using 1 gifabit ethernet to your PC. The router should be in the same room you're gonna use your vr headset, you need to minimalize latency and packet dropouts. Headset can decode up to a few hundred megabits video stream.

Long usb cables loose both voltage and speed, its gonna be less reliable than wifi AND you will have a cable which cannot charge it while in use, at most it will slow down discharge.

Get a powerbank and a good router.

What even is in the update anyway? Last I played it crept into the diablo loot treadmill grind which didn't really appeal. The combat was okay. The initial gameplay was a bit of a unsell because it was like ‘overlay text’, ‘set standing positions’, but it's reasonably pretty and the writing isn't retarded, with reasonably interesting if not particularly innovative delivery. It's a story game.

Level Up your body: Beatsaber but with punching! The other one! This is the better one, I had actually a lot of fun playing this but I didn't want to get sweaty or go too hard so I just did a medium difficulty. Has varying positions for the hits and much more going on in terms of variety, and is harder. It's MUCH more of a shameless beatsaber ripoff though,hopefully they don't copy breaking mods every 5 minutes.

The obsessive shadow: Garbage. It's the unity store house that you know from phasmophobia but you're given a flashlight you need to shake every 15 seconds and random jumpscares. I did not enjoy this at all.

sushi Ben: VN but with some energy and style that works well in VR. Entertaining; and there's some minigames in there that don't feel like work. It's a story for kids though there's not going to be any depth or deeper interest for my money.

True boxing VR demo: Hot garbage. The ‘demo UI’ makes my eyes bleed, the in game camera is not synced to the head so when you turn your head there's lag and it's nauseating as all hell; the gameplay is unresponsive and inconsistent and it's possible to just windmill your way to winning. Captain hardcore was a better boxing game.

Whitewater VR: It's a kayak game. Controls are meh, servicable. Doesn't pay attention to twist of controllers so you can windmill your way to the end. It's not good.

After trying to get few raids last night I can safely say nothing has changed at all aside from the new "content" (you'll still use the same silenced M4 or AKA). Old bugs and exploits are still present, the meta is set in stone, the routes on every map are unchanged, loot is still shit, doors are not back, game still crashes or sends you to different spawns for no reason and your backpack flies off into stratosphere if some shit collides inside. And of course people just powerleveled straight back to lvl4 Spectre and Minty using the same old tricks so enjoy running into squads with silenced M4s with drum mag.
Considering that last 3 or 4 patchnotes have been nothing but long list of "fixed bug" I expect that the experience will remain the same in foreseeable future.

NTA but I've tried both (although Pico 4 only for like 30 mins to an hour). Lenses were night and day in comparison to me. Quest 3 has great lenses with fantastic edge to edge clarity (although still has glare like any other pancake). Pico 4 the sweet spot felt super small and hard to consistently get in to, the lenses also kept fogging up causing lots of glare. It was also a lot easier to notice screen door effect on the Pico 4 compared to the Quest 3 to me even though they have similar resolutions, and Pico 4 is a bit blurrier. Colors are also more vibrant on the Quest 3, Pico 4 looked quite washed out by comparison.
Gonna try out Pico 4 Pro soon to see if face & eye tracking are worth the tradeoffs.

I'm getting mixed messages on whether or not this is possible, and the VRChat docs are unclear.

I want to animate the transform of a few bones in my armature, but Unity won't even let me preview the animations because these bones are already controlled by the humanoid rig.
It has been suggested that the Action or FX layers can still override the humanoid animations, but I'm having little luck getting anything to work.
Unassigning the bone from the humanoid rig and everything works of course, but that isn't really an option.

You can't use the fx layer for humanoid bones but any other non-humanoid bone should work. The gesture layer is masked to only include the humanoid bones of the hands so it will only do those. First day VR guy here. I had a blast in first 10 minutes of Alyx, just grabbing stuff feels so real. I feel like the first cavemen who invented fire. The graphics are also MUCH better than the standalone titles on the Quest 3. I know Alyx is like one of the rare gems but you can tells its really well made. Almost didn't make sick at all compared to everything else I tried today. Also, I didn't see a graphics adjustment in the menu, I assume the game adjusts for you?

Group+ instances are public instances except they have self-appointed jannies that can kick you at any time, or even ban you from their instances entirely.
They also use AFK desktop bots to keep the instances alive so that even if the jannies are gone, the instance stays up for them to return to when they wake up again.

Group+ is fine, it's Group Public that's the issue. It's made for world creators to be able to publish their worlds and run "official" instances of it, but people abuse it to just take over existing public worlds and public instances with their own cliques.

It's hard to tell if a jannie is in the instance because group member lists aren't public and group membership can be hidden. Are you really going to check every group that 50+ people in the instance are in and check if someone might be in the group hosting the instance? What if they aren't a jannie and are just a member of the 1000+ person group?

Is there any benefits of the quest 3 over the index, and how does it compare to the original quest? Are you forced to use a zuck account to even use it?

I like my index headset but the knuckles stick drift disabling my joy sticks forcing me to use the touch pill that doesn't ever register the direction intensity I want combined with finicky finger tracking that's never correct beyond a tight gripped fist takes a lot away from the VR experience, up to the point I don't play games anymore besides vrchat and have even started using an xbox controller just to move
My original quest doesn't compare well as a plain headset to the index but the controllers are pretty much exactly what I want

Just get new index controllers at that point or RMA the ones you have if you can.
Quest 3 has the advantage of being wireless and has somewhat better lenses, but the rest will be either equal or worse. Video quality suffers. You get more latency. You have to deal with limited headset battery life. Using it with vive/tundra trackers is harder. You lose full finger tracking. You lose the touchpads (not that they're used often on Index though desu).
But you do get access to Quest exclusives like RE4VR.

Not not available from valve or retail in my country anymore, new index controllers cost as much as a quest 3 looking around amazon/ebay. I've considered buying the chinese joystick components and doing a self repair but that also involves buying soldering equipment and the belief I can fix and not break it with zero electrical experience

Yes, they all still apply. Even the video compression and latency. This is the main reason why if you're on a Quest you almost always want to optimize your wireless setup instead of trying to use it with the cable.
