Quest 3 is probably the best choice for visual fidelity at a reasonable cost. If you're sitting down, a wire is not an issue anymore so you could look at the Index or BSB depending on your budget, but they're intended for more general use VR and use base stations and controllers that you won't be interested in purely for sim stuff but are superior to the dogshit controllers that Quest provides as well as providing a good ecosystem for full body tracking later.

Later systems are not feasible with the way Retroarch handles netplay (exchanging save states). Hell the official RetroArch wiki even lists PSX and Saturn as incompatible even if they work fine.
Multitap and light gun work but require some configuration, again check the wiki.

Since space sims are stated use case, might be worthwhile to wait and see how bad Sony fucks up their "PCVR for PSVR2" announcement, because if they're just making a link box and PC drivers, that would be a hell of a set for space sims.

Basically since space games are typically pretty dark you'll get the best look out of anything OLED or with really good contrast, so PSVR2 if it's not shit, Bigscreen Beyond, and maybe Quest Pro since it has local dimming.

Aside from that if you can't/don't want those you just want to look for good panels and resolution, so Quest 3, maybe Pico 4 (but their panel contrast isn't great), and of course while Index is kinda heavy and not that high res by modern standards, sound in games like Elite is very important and you can't beat the sound quality of Index, plus their panel quality is pretty good.

Between this buggy fucking headset and controllers and this buggy fucking software, it's now failing to work more times than it actually works.

It's feeling like a new issue every weekend lately.
The past 2 weeks though the biggest issue has been VRCFacetracking just displaying this Avatar Status Loading... status no matter what module I'm using (whether it's Virtual Desktop or Steam Link) and no matter what avatar I'm using. Do you know where VRCFaceTracking is actually installed to by any chance? Apparently there's some "OSCQuery" program that the VRCFaceTracking people released in beta to help with OSC issues and I saw one or two people in their discord say it helped solve the same issue that I'm having. However, I believe the files for it need to be placed in the folder where VRCFaceTracking is installed, and I can't for the life of me figure out where that is. Their wiki mentioned its in like AppData/Roaming/VRCFaceTracking but I searched throughout my entire AppData folder and couldn't find it.

I had very bad issues with the Quest Pro too and I cannot recommend it for that reason.
Tried Quest Pro with airlink. One of the controllers would constantly lose tracking even though my room is well-lit. Whenever this happened for even a second, VRChat and other Unity games would stop recognizing my controllers as VR motion controllers, and instead it would treat them like some sort of XBox controller where trigger is "turn left" and almost nothing works.
I would have to restart airlink completely to fix this, which then made the face tracking not work anymore until I restarted the whole headset. It just refused to send face tracking data.
Virtual Desktop didn't have the "recognized as XBox controller" issue but everything else persisted, including having to restart the headset.
It's not worth the risk.

Are the people that model avatars on booth self taught modelers, or are they professionals that work and were taught by companies? Or maybe they went to some school in Japan or Korea for it? I just find it weird how a random creator will all of a sudden get super popular on their first drop on booth where others don’t and it generally has no bearing on quality most of the time. Plus I’ve noticed some use similar methods. So I think they’re learning from the same place.

You're using the wrong video player prefab then.
The current video player issues were most likely related to the max desync being set too low. A video player playlist is LITERALLY just a pre-configured list of strings. That's not going to cause issues DURING the video playback.
Most video player prefabs have a setting that dictates how far off clients may be from the video player host's time. Set this to like 4 seconds or higher. Any lower and you get stuck in endless resync loops. I simply do not believe that this was a video player playlist length issue. During the office event we had like 3 hours worth of videos and it worked just fine.

There's an incredible turn over where everyone switches less valuable 'friends' out on a whim for their own gain. Gay sex and real life meetups have an unreasonable level of influence on the social politics. New members are sometimes given huge attention in the attempt to groom them into sexual activities, while other times they're entirely ignored and essentially told they need to earn the right to speak. Almost everything is gatekept in private discord servers that they simultaniously justify as 'my personal server for friends' but also a part of /vrg/ that will benefit your participation in the group. Everyone involved will defend this all to the death because they don't know how unusual the situation is and know their position in the hierarchy won't survive criticism. The only time I've ever seen a social group that works anything like this was my sister's descriptions of how the girls acted in school. Smaller groups may be better, but I don't have any personal experience with them because the only way in is either through the unbearable main /vrg/ groups before said smaller group stops crossing over at all, or knowing someone popular in there from before /vrg/.
