For 2k I want EVERYTHING.
I want EVERYTHING that I have right now (Valve Index), I want it better, with automatic IDP, face and exe tracking, capacitive finger trackers for when your fingers leave the camera, and I want it all in the base box.
No "full light blocker", no "buy a better mic", no "get a headstrep for comfort", no "get a battery pack", and so on.
And of course I want this shit working. I don't want the Beyond experience, where the faceplate was offset by half a head, I don't want the Varjo that doesn't work 50% of the time, I don't want the Index Camera that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, depending on the PC you plug it into.
And I want a clean and easy RMA option if shit hits the fan.

Then I'd be fine to pay premium.

Six races will send out representatives of their team to participate in glorious minigame combat to earn points, the winning clan will earn the title of the superior race.

Theme:
Gladitory arena turned into a graffiti'd slum
There will be assets attached to later posts so you can show your racial pride or hatred toward others.
Signs and slogans will be encouraged.

When?
It will be my first map and event so please be patient with me.
Ideal starting date will be after the NL meet concludes, early to mid May.
This will be an NA event unless there is an EU who would like to host and run it for that timezone.

Alright. Pavlov through steam link on Quest 3 feels fantastic.
Resolution is lower than VD BUT the latency feels incredible. I think I was at sub 20ms the entire running it at 2000x2200 @ 200mbps and 120fps.
Now what shocks me are the quest 3 controllers. I don't have issues with sights anymore. It just works, even a m4 sight is useable now it's like they magically align each others.
Throwing nades feels good now since it tracks a bit more above the should and near the chest so no need to look down to pick one up and I'm not fighting the throwing arcs at all anymore.

I've had more issues with the facial gasket. Got the AMVR one today and it's night and day in comfort. The shitty stock strap was the least of my worries.
I've ordered one from kkcobvr with the battery pack at the back so I'll report in two weeks or so but otherwise people recommend the shit from kiwi since it just works. I feel like they're all the same anyway so pick whatever.

BoboVR is the best option in my opinion due to the easily hotswappable batteries. I like my M3 Pro. They just released an S3 Pro you may want to look in to though which has bigger battery and a built-in fan (pic related).

Above $1200 you've got to be offering something new or trying to solve some of the other problems with VR like weight, heat and so on. Unfortunately those demands are in direct conflict with the current trend towards standalone and AR capable. I don't want a headset that I can wear while cooking dinner when I'm still going to want to take it off because it's not comfortable enough.

We have a lot of friend group discords that are definitely an extension of /vrg/ since they are formed from people naturally becoming more and deeper friends with each other.

If you mean by "the discord" as some sort of replacement location trying to be what binds us all together then there is no such thing. The thread is what is in-common, the home, and the common watering hole that binds us all together.

How do I turn ASW off in quest native games? I'm using quest game optimizer and the while the game runs at full refreshrate in the menu it's locked to half during actual game sessions. I would say it's actually a bit more comfortable than the Index but that's only because the Index is so annoyingly heavy.
If I try putting like a KKCOBVR battery on the back of the Pro though for more battery life it's more uncomfortable and heavier than the Index.
I can use a Quest 3 with a much better designed halo strap (bobovr) AND a battery on the back and it manages to be more comfortable and lighter than Index and Pro stock though.

I don't think all halo straps are bad, but I don't think Quest Pro has a good halo strap and there's no way to replace it, only slight mods and horizontal/vertical straps to try and make it better.

Software side of things they've been pretty shit. Still no GTA, lots of mediocre ports. Horizon is shit. But I will say meta has done well on the hardware side. And I appreciate and respect them for allowing their headsets to be used with PCVR so easily. Seeing as you can buy one install their own oculus app, use steamvr's own app, or use virtual desktop.
