What is this?
Six races will send out representatives of their team to participate in glorious minigame combat to earn points, the winning clan will earn the title of the superior race.
Demons have been replaced with the minority etc team sorry demons

Theme:
Gladitory arena turned into a graffiti'd slum
There will be assets attached to later posts so you can show your racial pride or hatred toward others.
Signs and slogans will be encouraged.

When?
It will be my first map and event so please be patient with me.
Ideal starting date will be after the NL meet concludes, early to mid May.
This will be an NA event unless there is an EU who would like to host and run it for that timezone.

I think I'm still on v63, either way I don't expect it to get that much better due to a software update.
Just being able to walk through my house and take a piss in my bathroom with the headset on the entire time is a wild feeling though. It's not really about sharing my bathroom adventures with my bros, I always have my mic muted.
Having that kind of persistence though where I can be in VR and walk *anywhere* in my house while swapping inbetween passthrough and VR with just a double tap of my headset, damn it's magical.

I played this world the other day and found it to pretty fun. It's essentially an FTL clone in space that supports up to 5 players with each (aside from a 5th player, who generally ends up being the designated janny) player controlling one of the major subsystems (Shields, Weapons, Doors, and Pilot).
Anyways, I'm posting to ask if anyone would like to play it some later. I have a bunch of schoolwork to do today but I'm completely free tomorrow, so between 2:00AM EST/6:00AM UTC to 10:00AM EST/2:00PM UTC would be a good time for me, or even a bit later.

What drives people to go on public meets and makeout with eachother in middle of the group?

ANOTHER bigmeme review. I'll write just a few things as others have already said much of what I think. I'm coming from a wireless Vive Pro and I've had mine for about a month. Initially, I did not like the clarity, made me feel like I was going crosseyed. I really had to adjust and adjust to get a good view. On my vive pro with modded lenses, everything would be mostly clear edge to edge with a huge sweet stop. On the bigmeme to get a better view I had to tighten the straps all the way which hurt. Even then it was only marginally better. I pestered support to get a thinner gasket and that came only last week. That made the device so much better to use. I still feel a little strain and really close objects seem to be blurry so I think I'll need to try to get 1mm IPD less from support. Which means sending it back and waiting though. For headphones, I got a Koss kcs75 clipons. Also had to get used to how those feel on my ears. But they sound really good for how little they cost. However, it makes it hard to get into the headset. Funny how just a little more friction makes me not want to take it on/off. Its just something I'll need to get used to again. My vive pro setup was sorta hard to startup but not to hard to get in/out of. I'd say the bigmeme is not a direct upgrade to my vive pro. They both do certain things better. Luckly I can switch between them relatively easily, I'll test if i can even hotswap but i doubt it. The vive pro has great FOV, brightness and of course WIRELESS. I can use it for dynamics standing games where moving is a main part of the game. The bigmeme has the resolution, true blacks and weight going for it. This is great for all the animu I watch in VR. I just wish someone would have a solution for wireless for the bigmeme. I dont need super duper quality when playing those dynamic games. I'd be fine with those draw backs of the bigmeme, if it where wireless, just so that I didn't have to use two headsets. Really sucks going BACK to the wire.

NTA, but I had the same experience, where the second narrower gasket fits a lot better, the left one in pic related. You don't tell them a specific amount though, just say the headset puts too much pressure on your face when it's in the sweet spot; that should prompt their support to follow the "free thinner gasket" script they have. I also rescanned my face since there was some hearsay about the very early preorders having a worse scan process, but if yours is later it might not matter.

I also got a 1mm narrower headset than what my IPD prescription would suggest (63.5mm prescription, 62mm SKU headset), and it improves the vision than the 63mm I had. It's annoyingly still not perfect but as good as I think it'll get without like opening up the headset and putting in some 0.5mm shims.

I just told them I wanted a thinner one. No number, but trying to measure mine, Thicker gasket had about 16mm and the thinner one is about 11mm. so ~ 5mm. That made it so much more comfortable to wear and made the view much better. They might merchant you into waiting for their store so you can buy one. complain in the right way and they might send you one for free.

Havent played in a long long time. In unity you know how those physbone collider "capsules" show inside your avatar to show where your physbones will collide (so hair doesn't go through the head, skirts don't clip into legs etc.

Those physbone capsules are scripts on objects. Figure out what object the script is on (ie ass/booba/hair/whatever bone) then you can see the script itself and adjust the bounds on it from there. Should only be able to see them if you have the armature selected.

Yeah it's rather obvious at this point that the custom face scan thing turned out to be a huge meme and the headset goes so hard in to being lightweight that it starts sacrificing some of the essentials. I don't know how they didn't foresee these types of issues happening and I can't imagine they're very happy having to RMA and IPD/cushion swap nearly every damn customer.

The reason why its so heavy is because of the wireless module and counterweight. When looking level its almost perfectly balanced, I only had neck issues with games like walkabout minigolf or when i looked down/up for more than about 4 minutes. Otherwise my neck isnt particularly strong.

On the bright side, since you are in for a 1000 burgers, their support is responsive and easy to work with; better than steam support. It's best to remember that the other person has a script they have to follow. How do I apply different gravity/force settings to the END of a bone chain in unity? say I have a necklace that's chain.01 down to chain.08 (8 being the end/bottom of necklace) I want the bottom (chain 8) to have different gravity settings than the rest. I currently have phys bone settings on chain 1 that affects all the way down, I tried adding a second phys bone component to chain 8 to affect just that but it seems to completely ignore the settings I'm putting.

Pic related is how I disable physbone (the 2 graphs under limits) on the first bone of a chain to put rotation constraint on it since they don't work together.

Got similar issues even though my head isn't that big. I genuinely don't understand what is the point of that fucking padded halo band. There's 0 pressure on that part of the head, it's all on the forehead or cheeks depending on how you tighten the straps. Also the angle at which the back of the strap cups your head is retarded. I like GZDoom VR and Quakespasm VR to play Doom and Quake mods. If you are looking for more porn games there isn't a lot with much interactivity. owner of 10 vr headsets here, my current headset of choice broke, so I went and bought another index

here are my considerations:

- if you care at all about VRChat, Index is the best headset on the simple basis that it has the best microphone. Almost everything else has either a mid tier or straight up terrible microphone, while the Index is so good you will get compliments on your voice on a regular basis.
The closest 2nd place to the index mic is HP Reverb G2

- index has the highest frame refresh rate (144hz) and fov (130) out all headsets, which is actually the most important quality of life feature when it comes to actual image. Other headsets make you feel like you're watching a slideshow inside of a small black box compared to the Index.

- If you care about VRChat, the index controllers are the best controllers bar none. Everything else means you have handicapped fingers compared to someone who uses Index controllers.

- base station tracking is infinitely better than inside-out cameras, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, it is instantly noticeable when hot swapping between the two. With inside-out cameras, you can't even turn off the lights while playing VR, and looking around your room or relocating stuff in your room will gradually cause a positional drift. Also, more often than not, the floor height gets messed up over time, which you either fix manually or live with. it's annoying.
Index has base station tracking. Many other headsets do not.

- Higher resolution headsets will cause your GPU to go brrr, making the room hot, and making it constantly noisy and annoying. Source: I have an RTX 3090 and an i9. Although index runs at lower res, I don't really want higher res anyway, having it at a nice point where my PC can chill at 60c is perfect.

The only place where index falls short compared to other HMDs is the resolution (which has its caveats), in all other regards it is equal or superior.

Quest 3 is nice, but I prefer using the Index.

My general experiences with non-index HMDs:

- WMD (the microsoft ones): they're actually pretty good and high value for their price, very nice image and sound. Main caveats: shittyass controllers, inside-out tracking, and the microsoft software is annoying to use.
HP Reverb G2 is the best WMD at the moment as far as I know. I own one. If my Index dies and I need a backup to go to, my G2 is my backup, and I use exclusively the headset, with the index base stations and index controllers.

- Oculus/Meta: highest value for price, deliver good quality at low price like no other, personally I don't care if facebook is photorecording my room to sell my data in return for this price. Bonus: Quest is usable as wireless, but that has a lot of caveats: much worse image quality, inconsistent lag/freezes, and limited battery time, or having to strap a bigger battery to your head, making it uncomfortable. I tried like 3 different batteries and couldn't make it truly comfy. It "works" but you can feel that you're compromising when doing it.
Caveats in general: Colors feel washed out. idk maybe just me. I like the resolution but somehow the image doesn't feel as nice.
If your entire goal with VR is to just play short sessions of Beat Saber, I'd say go with Oculus/Meta, I had a lot of fun playing Beat Saber randomly on my Quest recently.

I'm apparently easier to understand over an Index mic than a Q2 one, so it's not necessarily just a VRC thing. I don't think the controllers are either, being able to grab stuff in a more natural way and gesture in multiplayer games is nice.
Would also add that I've had issues with inside-out tracked controllers losing tracking when aiming in FPS games, it's not just about being able to play in the dark.
Disagree on the refresh rate & FOV though, it's possible to get 120Hz with a close enough FOV to the Index that it doesn't matter. I definitely don't think a lower resolution is a benefit either, but not having the encoding overhead of using a standalone headset for PCVR is nice.

There's not really any complicated setup for Dirt Rally 2 that I remember, it pretty much just works out of the box.
Assetto Corsa is a little more complicated, but you really just need Content Manager and CSP (the stuff under General Setup in the OP rentry) plus maybe rebind controls depending on what you're using. Might take a while if you end up wanting to install a bunch of mods, just to just get in game it's not really bad.
You can sink a bunch of time into tweaking things for both, but I'd wait until you know if you actually like the game before bothering with any of that.

I tried Samsung Odyssey+ and HP Reverb G2 and both felt way higher quality than both the HTC and Oculus options at the time, with the only problem being that WMR controllers are complete garbage, but it's not like the HTC dildos are any good, and Oculus ones are good but use inside-out tracking, so you'd end up switching to index controllers anyway on all options

It's also how you use them. For deagle go for range, duck in and out of cover after firing 1-3 shots, rinse and repeat.
Don't rush into the bombsite and enemy dire carrying it.
For ump just aim at body and fire full auto, recoil will move it up to the head after first 3 shots. AKM full auto is the same.
Let the veterans duke ahit out and put 1-2 body shots with the deagle into tagged enemies to kill them.

UMP is probably the easiest weapon to use. The slow projectiles give more lenient hit detection, it is cheap so you can usually afford it, and gives a good kill reward. Excluding headshots, it will lose in pure time to kill versus other automatic weapons, so let others go first. Hunting rifle on pistol round was requested a long time ago, but wasn't possible when the bolt actions were separated by teams. I don't think it affects pistol round balance because it's not better than any of the existing weapons. It can be changed if no-one likes it on pistol round after all.

P90 and VSS are much stronger than when they were at SMG prices. They weren't moved for being too strong. VSS at 7 shots to kill takes over 1/3 of the magazine to kill, so it's a bad experience. P90 at 8 shots to kill is also very bad outside of close range, especially combined with its unusual recoil and bad default ironsights. They could have those values at $1400, but I doubt they'd see much use with such drawbacks. They have similar TTK to the Galil and M4 with 6 and 7 shots to kill respectively, but are at a lower price of $2400 because of their more limited range. I thought it would be more interesting to have more high tier weapon options.

I see what you're trying to do with the P90/VSS because those guns struggled to find a place before but I don't think it's entirely the right direction.
Cheaper than the top tier rifle with comparable TTK and some downsides? Isn't that what the AK12 and Famas are supposed to be? Famas is $600 cheaper than an M4 right now. I'd argue it's overperforming at that price but the better helmet damage still makes it more appealing than a P90.
The shitty helmet damage is something I've always hated about the P90/VSS. When the AR9 released the stats were bad but it felt good to use in part because it has a decent rate of fire and 100 helmet damage so you can easily headshot kill at close range. VSS can't afford to waste shots hitting helmets because of the small magazine and the P90 not being able to buzzsaw at head height well hurts it's close range playstyle. I really think both guns needed 100 helmet damage before such drastic balance changes, they both have the rate of fire to noticably benefit from it.

A two shot helmeted kill with a fire rate of 1200 rpm on the P90 is likely too far removed from how the other weapons work. Every other 100 helmet damage weapon has a fire rate of 800 rpm or below, strong recoil (not just going sideways), or isn't automatic.
