Nothing screams trustworthy ID verification like a US-based company skating by on shaky legal frameworks cobbled together thanks to some political maneuvering between the EU Commission and the US. The Court of Justice of the European Union has already retroactively torched all prior frameworks, and the current framework is a re-brand of the last failed attempt.

Persona's data protection officer is also conveniently based in Ireland. The country whose data protection agency is notorious for dragging its feet on cases, interpreting the GDPR in ways that businesses love (even when the European Data Protection Board strongly disagrees), and wrapping everything in gag orders to avoid accountability. It's not like Ireland has a reputation for being the weakest link in GDPR enforcement or anything.

If that doesn't fill you with confidence about how your sensitive data will be handled, I don't know what will. No worries about US agencies being able to request your data without notice because the US company is so committed to breaking US surveillance laws for GDPR compliance.

Hi I’m the host. No, I don’t think any world hopping event is the exact same, nor do I think sea explo can monopolize any event involving going to multiple worlds lol. I made this one because I liked the idea of a “sleep over” in vr. And last year I found a cozy train map with working rooms etc, so the idea bloomed. Going to random worlds is just half of the event, I think spending time doing light rp and hanging with friends on the train is just as fun,

EU Assetto Corsa: European Racing club, season 12!
Race 85

19:00 UTC 20:00 CET, Monday 2nd of December 2024.

FUCKING TRUCKING. HELL YEAH. We're taking these FUCKING TRUCKS to america, to Laguna Seca. Drive these 5 tonn, 1000 HP shits around the corkscrew and don't screw around!

1 hour practice
12 minutes qualifiers
8 laps race

After that some relaxing convoy trucking in Scotland.

Assetto - can be played with wheel, controller, or steam-vr-wheel addon, it doesn't matter, we will all have fun driving together. If you just bought Asseto - grab Assetto Corsa Content Manager - a better launcher and mod manager: https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html To install mods: just drag and drop zip files from mega onto the Content Manager windows and click on the hamburger menu on top right. Highly recommend installing stable custom shader patch and 7-zip plugin in Content manager.

For communication we'll use mumble at voice.vrg.party port 64738, as it doesn't need any registrations or logins.
https://www.mumble.info/

I can't recomend enough Crew Chief
https://thecrewchief.org/
He's a helpfull AI fellow in the pits who'll provide you information about your car, your opponents, yell at you or try to encourage you. And most importantly, he will spot for you, in case you have a car in you blind spot.

UI radar are immersion breaking and basically cheating, but this guy will tell you verbally if someone is there on your right. Download, install, select Asseto Corsa in game list, press "Start application" and it should work!

As the holidays approach, /DinnerCircle/ must continue with its tradition of an annual Thanksgiving leftovers eating in VR meetup! In part 41, we will join a VRChat instance to eat our leftovers from our family's Thanksgivings(if that wasn't obvious), but as with any /DinnerCircle/ you can bring any food as you might have destroyed your relationship with your family due to; politics, emotional damage, assault, sexual assault, rape, murder or other factors not listed. Please feel free to bring any food, like from a frensgiving, or something you've made yourself. Be sure to join us on the Saturday the 30th at 7pm ET! Links will be provided here in the thread.

The realisation that valve will not be able to deliver good lenses, face tracking and working comfortable controllers with decent finger tracking.

Why? Because face tracking was thought of by zucc to sell to stupid wagies and just so happened to be co-opted by vr troons, but will never ever be useful in any video game, so a "gaming" company (which nowadays only sells gambling to kids, a grossly outdated vr headset and skins) won't bother implementing it.
The deckard is doomed from the get-go and waiting for it is delusional.

i am happy when people organise events, regardless of who

even low quality events that are just a map and people in themed avatars beat sitting around the stupid tree or bar for the 300th time drinking.

Think of it like a costume party irl. It's just a party, sure, but you're in a costume, you have something to talk about; and the place is decorated accordingly!
With the train shit you get some train rp, you get to choose a carriage with your clique or infiltrate some other, idk, it has potential. Stop being such a negative nancy and be happy people make events; a /vrcg/ (yes vrCg) without events would be a disaster and boring s fuck.

If there's more flavour to it because it's a more special event that's multifaceted even better. I'm definitely gonna join in on the train, sounds really fun.

Based diychad, Surprised you didn't find anyone to talk to. I'm slapping together dumbest shit every now and then, I know of at least two anons who outperform me in quantity of their dumbass projects, and then many many more who are very much into technology, not to mention vidya and anime. You're really not incompatible at all. Good half of anons around this place are showing varying degrees of social ineptitude, so maybe that's the problem, but you'll break through eventually.

EU Contractors tomorrow at 19:00 UTC / 20:00 CET. Game is not actually dead edition.
Sadly I couldn't find any map/loadout with vehicles. This one https://mod.io/g/contractors/m/q-bf3-grandbazaar was said in the comments to have them, but I couldn't find any and it has 5 capture points.
There was also this one https://mod.io/g/contractors/m/arena that seemed like a good meme map to end the list but it's not Groundwar compatible.
Also, none of the custom maps seem to be compatible with the Push mode. It always changes back to a vanilla map when I select that mode.
Maybe we'll have more content available in the coming weeks...

Provisional mod list. If you want anything added/replaced just reply:

3. Resubscribe ingame again
May or may not require an additional restart after that

It uses unity so literally all you have to do is start up unity, drop in the repo and its ready.

Now you would want to add some custom stuff to it, like an environment and such like you would with content you upload to social vr platforms.

Anons... I'm at the end of my rope, I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong with my PC, or whether the Quest 2 is just that bad of a headset.
I'm running an RTX 3070 and a Ryzen 3700x, 16GB of Ram, High end Gen 3 NVME SSD and yet, I get awful frame times in every single VR game. I can't even run Morrowind VR without awful jello like motion in my games.
I've tried a new USB C cable, I've tried Oculus Killer, I've tried making sure super sampling is off, I'm running out of things to try.
Everywhere I look I'm told my hardware should be enough but I can't figure out what is possible so wrong with my PC that it runs so completely awfully.

Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? This is the Quest 2 in the 90hz mode.

Nothing out of the ordinary, this has happened on multiple OS(es?) too, this is a fresh install of Windows 11 Education, exact same issue on Windows 10, Enterprise and Education.
I'm running out of things to blame as even an incredibly stripped down system still lags to shit, might just bite the bullet when I have the money and get a used 3090 as I've been getting VRAM raped in 2D, wouldn't surprise me if it caused half my issues in 3D.

Since it doesn't seem to be an OS problem from the other posts you've made, you could completely reset your BIOS settings and retest without doing anything besides enabling XMP to make sure it's not some settings issue there.
I doubt it's USB bandwidth since I wouldn't think that'd effect frametimes, just bitrate.
If you have a spare router laying around or can grab a cheap one, you could test Steam Link over that.
You could also run fpsVR to generate a report like I've seen >>503370026 (Cross-thread) do a few times and see if that catches the bottleneck better than what you're testing with now.

VD is actually pretty garbage too, though not as bad as Steamlink.
Airlink is unironically the only that does it right.
You have to adjust the gamma to about 1.20 in VD to get the same amount of detail in the darks as in Airlink, and at that point everything else is blown to hell.

Here are some tips for chosing mods:
PMC Casual and GSAC Classic/WW2 (careful, there is another one with only Grenade Launchers) are decent vanilla replacement loadouts.
Ninja Classic allows playing Ninja in Groundwar lobbies.
PMC (Stable, not Casual) turns the game into a pseudo-milsim: you are way slower, teamkilling without team markers, you have to cure your injuries. I personally hate it but some people might be into that.
Endless War (the WW1 loadout) has great melee with collisions and weight.
TFVR is great, it's basically TF2 just missing the Spy. The. maps that support it have Payload mode. Take into account that a TF2 match will last longer than a regular match.
Warhammer 40K, Halo, Lego Star Wars, and Clone Wars are decent for variety.
I haven't tried the CoD loadouts so I don't know about those.
Most maps by Cold_of_Duty are great.
Avoid really small maps like Rust or Shipment (unless it's a small lobby) or too big (Battlefield/Battlefront ports).
Groundwar doesn't support TDM because there is a trick for that. If you select CSGO McDonalds https://mod.io/g/contractors/m/q-csgo-mcdonalds it will switch to TDM and after that you can switch to any map keeping that mode. I haven't tested if this has been fixed after the last update tho.
If you are going to be 10 or less just make a Casual lobby instead of a Groundwar one because it has more modes and maps available.
At this point, every mod is Quest-compatible, so it doesn't matter whether you make the lobby cross-compatible or PC-only

>>504052780
You don't need everyone to be done with downloading the map to start the game. They'll just automatically join when they have finished downloading it.
Anonymous No.504085331 Replies: >>504085973
>>504085121
>>504083404
Forgot the most important one: if you select a custom map while in a Groundwar lobby and you get a warning about it not being Groundwar compatible, just ignore it. It will play without issues, that just means the maker didn't mark it as compatible.

If you wanna save disk size you gotta shrink the cache in the VRC config json. I don't recommend doing this at all, in fact I recommend doing the exact opposite and increasing it. Mine is at 100GB.

Recorders are ready for you and your dulcet tones. Keep an eye out for them in game and politely ask if they're free to record you. Cut off to be recorded is 1200 UTC December 8th.
SEA Recorders: moistbobo, Noxsea
EU Recorders: Orenji, Uzugu, Karkeys (unavailable till the 2nd)
NA Recorders: DJ Desu, Mentlesaur
I ask that you please sing the parts marked [Everybody Sings]. If you could also sing at least one verse that'd be grand. Those that are feeling extra melodious can try their hand at submitting the whole song.
You can also chose to submit your own mp3 voice recording with a different mic, link up with a recorder for the video portion, then send the sound clip their way. No need for this it can all be done in game to keep things simple.
Always looking for more volunteers, if you can work OBS and think a particular group/timezone isn't covered by our crew please step forward.
Comments, queries, concerns and complaints to Karkeys, though it may be difficult to address until the 2nd of December.

Fuck you for making me write this out:
VRChat can control as much as they want. The "how it is used" written by Tuptup is a red hering.
The Persona TOS clearly state they will share the data with their partners. Partly because they must, if they want to provide their service.

Also the problem is not Persona alone.
Persona is partnered with Paravision for their age verification. Persona states in their TOS that they will share your data (should you use them) with their partners (one of them being Paravision).
Paravision does not claim to be GDPR compliant, nor do they specify any way in which they might be. Once your data is in their hands, you likely have little recourse in taking it back.
https://www.paravision.ai/privacy-policy/

The big red flag is:
1.) Persona is currently getting sued for misusing data for purposes they didn't disclaim (or something like this)
2.) the partner company was sued for kind of the same thing, prior to their rebrand. Back then they were called "Everalbum"

The outcome to the cases is largely irrelevant (Everalbum settled, meaning no fine and no legal decision, and Personas case apperantly will be dismissed because it's frivolous or something).
The reason why the outcome is irrelevant is because the case is not about whether or not they did this. It's about if they broke laws with it.
If a company like Persona/Paravision/Everalbum wins such a case, it doesn't mean the data wasn’t used or even exploited. It means the court found the usage either did not violate the explicit terms of the law or lacked sufficient evidence of a violation.
They still did exactly what they were sued for though.

The verification is a good first stwp into the right direction, but it simply shows, that vrchat still is caught lacking in the child safety departement.
To effectively stand a chance against grooming and racism, we simply need more tools. A "real name" policy would help. For too long, our children and protected groups were easily harassed by users with fantasy names, this cannot continue. Virtual reality does not absolve you from real accountability

I don't think real name goes far enough but it is another step in the right direction. It doesn't have to be like super obvious it can just be in your profile tucked away. This would also aid VRC in adding tools just like roblox has. Tox-mod like moderation would allow governments to immediately respond to incidents of child abuse, as they could receive automatic alerts to indecent child interaction along with the user's real name, keeping children safe. It would be useful in other cases, such as in cases of hate speech.
Users of this site should know this intuitively how harmful allowing users to spread hateful messages and abuse.

Friendly reminder!

8 hours is a lot longer than 2 hours
also doesn't matter since you can just have an extra set to swap out infinitely or use a pack just like standalone sloppers to do extend them exponentially rather than by another 2 hours
wireless hmds are just too power hungry and the amount of battery you need strapped to your head to offset it even just slightly makes the headsets weigh even more
just not worth it for the extra management, compression, latency, and comfort tradeoffs

you do realize the weak-ass ARM chips in these devices can't even work fast enough to decode the current bitrate limits of standard 5ghz speeds sent to a single device right
even higher bitrates won't be a thing that'll help yet, and even if you tried it would just increase latency further as it struggles to decode that stream

>but the entire point of this retarded argument is for a VR STREAMING DEVICE
Bandwidth of the video stream - the total size actually encoded video frames per second.
Bandwidth of the transfer channel - the total amount of bytes you can theoretically transfer per second.

PC generates a frame -> PC encodes the frame -> Transfer Time -> Device decodes the frame -> Device displays the frame to the user.
The bigger the bandwidth of the transfer channel, the faster you can transfer frame data from the PC to the Device, you retarded troglodyte.
>more data won't solve anything or be faster when it already can't keep up
Wrong. It can. We are limited by transfer bandwidth right now. Q2 can do 500mbps easily, Q3 can do 800mbps easily. Deckard would be even better.
Anonymous No.504186361 Replies: >>504186572

And to add to that, you can sacrifice bandwidth for the ease of decode.
So if you can encode the same frame to 1mb or 2mb, 2mb frame should be easier to decode, even if the final decoded output would look the same. That's how modern encoding algorithms work.

the chip already struggles with bitrates we can send full throttle on non Wifi 7 routers when decoding
why on earth do you think even higher bitrates would help?
the real bottleneck with Wifi wireless slop is that the weak ARM chips just don't decode quickly
the vast majority of the latency in this example demonstrating wifi 7 versus wifi 6e is basically from decoding, which remains very similar because their decoding chips are the same
2ms in the network stack is not worth a $300-$500 upgrade lmao
what we need isn't a router upgrade, its better decoders

Typical VD numbers are 10 ms encode, 10 ms decode, up to 10 ms transmit, 10 ms game render, and then it doesn't show the time to querry controllers and time to copy frame from quest gpu to quest displays. Display port eliminates encode, decode, wifi transmit, only leaves querry, game render and copy from PC GPU to HMD displays.

But again, as I said, there was no motion to photon latency experiments for WiFi connected headsets, and you are trying to compare unreliable estimator with concrete data.

We are going to do a mass fucking study, as soon as I prepare a vrchat world for it.

All youll have to do is film in slow mo your pc screen, your hmd lenses and a controller in view. Then ina fast jerking motion youll move controller, and as soon as the game detects controller moving in a significant way it will change the hmd screen color.

On the pc screen there will be a timer showing milliseconds, so we can double check the phone slow mo FPS to measure the time as accurately as possible.

To extract the delay youll have to find the frame when controller motion begun and the frame where hmd screen changed color. Amount of time passing between those frames is the delay. This should be quite easily measurable and should be accurate enough, especially with phones capable of 240 fps .

This is a common problem; index users should check their headsets for cracks regularly. If it's already happened best you can really do is pull the springs out and epoxy resin the end cap on and resin that whole section together and lose the spring in the headset there. You'll have to adjust manually using the dial at the back every time you put it on and off.

This is me. Here are my impressions as someone new to VR.

>image quality is disappointing.
I assumed the tech would have been much better by now. This is basically what I imagined the old Rift was. I'm aware there are better models, but the casual model is lacking.
>Batman game is shit.
IDK why people like this. The combat is repetitive, and it seems very on-rails. It gave me a pretty negative impression of the tech. It feels like a Wii game (bad).
>Bonelab is amazing
Was starting to worry about my purchase, but this completely alleviated that. I really love this even though it makes me feel like I'm gonna hurl. Shooting the gun made me feel psychotic (good).

Probably won't recommend it to anyone yet, but happy to have it.

doesn't the 3s have a lower resolution than the 3? I know it uses shittier lenses (fresnel vs pancake).

If you are using steam link, you will want to adjust the settings to the highest that your network speed or cable will allow as by default it compresses video a LOT and makes it look shit.

The casual model that you purchased (Quest 3S) has the same displays/lenses as the Quest 2, which released in 2020.
The chipset was upgraded which means you can run standalone games better and such, but the actual display quality is still on the same level as a 2020 headset.
>Bonelab is amazing
Haven't tried Bonelab but I really liked Boneworks which was the game that came before Bonelabs. It has the same physics stuff, highly recommend it.

I assume you're referring to the Devkit or something since the actual Rift released in like 2017 or so.
I started with the original Rift in early 2018, also tried the original Vive. Slowly upgraded headsets since then as they've come out and I can definitively say we've come a long way.
The original Rift had such a shit resolution and such unbelievably bad FoV compared to the headsets we have now or even the headsets we had a few years ago.
I remember being on the verge of returning my original Rift headset because I was so disappointed with it with what I was expecting versus what I got in terms of visuals. Then I decided to check if 4chan had a VR thread. It did, and got me more interested in the hobby and convinced me to keep my headset.

Boners 18:00 UTC as always. However:

WARNING: FUSION GOT AN UPDATE

>Update melon to 0.6.6, use automated installer, should be as straightforward as it gets:
https://melonwiki.xyz/#/?id=automated-installation
>Update fusion, download this, then drag&drop into your main game's folder (not appdata)
https://thunderstore.io/c/bonelab/p/Lakatrazz/Fusion/

This update seems pretty substantial. One of many, many new things I see in UI is an option to sync/download content, so, good news, it's possible we'll no longer need a modpack. We'll test it today, can't lie, kinda hyped about it. I'll provide a modpack for this week regardless, gonna pack it up soon.

The higher you go the more accurate it is.
With 100 FPS, slow mo, we'll be acurate to the tens of milliseconds, but we'll notice a difference between 30 and 60 ms. at 240 fps, we'll be down to 5 ms per frame more or less.

There is still a problem of arbitrary visual selection of motion onset - you'll have to decide manually which exact frame has start of the motion of the controller, and it will introduce +- frame variance in the result...

This is a /vrg/ dancing group/club open to any anon. It is first and foremost a ParaPara (dance style for eurobeat) circle but is also open to other types of dancing, such as Wotagei (dance style using lightsticks, on pause for now).
The main goal is to actively learn those dance styles with eventual content made out of it, anyone is free to join no matter if they want to take it seriously or just as a fun thing. No issues with 3 pointers either!

This time we will do a manepara ("pypy-like") session, either using songs from previous sessions or using one of the parapara dvd
As usual, newcomers are always welcome and we'll adapt the session depending on who joins.
