Listen here, chud. Yuki crafted a logo. Not just any logo, but a symbol, an emblem of pure, unassailable genius. He asked in the threads, openly, for input on what the community needed, and what did he do? He delivered. A logo for regular /vrg/ events, designed by the master himself.

Do you think Yuki, who has been here since the very genesis of it all, doesn’t know better than you what belongs to /vrg/? His presence alone sanctifies it. If Yuki says it’s /vrg/, then by his sheer authority, it is /vrg/.

Bow your head.
Hail Yuki.
Hail /vrg/

Alright, everyone, let’s take a deep breath. My contributions are cool and all, but let’s not elevate this into some kind of divine crusade. I made a couple of logos, not the Arc of the Covenant. Appreciating someone’s is fine, but please do not put other people down.

Let’s keep the vibe chill and focused on the community, not a single person’s ‘sanctified presence.’ At the end of the day, we’re all here to have fun and enjoy what /vrg/ is about. No need for melodrama, folks.

new WRC event: H2 in gravel part of Italy. Cars are surprisingly fast for being 70's shitboxes, track has fast sections, on the upside they're way more controllable than what you'd expect from a 70's RWD.

NA /vrg/ soccer instance will start at around 11:15pm EST tomorrow (Friday), slightly earlier than usual so it doesn't extend into the dance.

Final match of the group stage will be this Saturday, December 14th against /nepgen/ @ 21:00 UTC/4:00pm EST.
NA watch will probably be around the same 11:15/11:30pm EST time.

What is this?
Come enjoy a comfy christmas party with your fellow /vrg/ anons.
Chat, chill and warm yourselves with the other anon's as everyone gathers round to see all the gifts Santa Anons made for one another.

Beverages, snacks and orderves will be served from our tourism sensitive hosts. In a fully custom map designed for /vrg/.

A new Christmas Carol created by /vrg/ for /vrg/ is also gonna be shown, lovingly crafted by everyone.
To usher in the start of the event and see all the soulful christmas cards created by anon for anon.
And see all the Christmas Cards anon made for anon.

A dance will occur led by the PyPy crew which we want everyone to dance along with to then reach the climax.
At it's climax everyone comes in and welcome's santa on the chair to receive gifts specially made for them.
Fully recorded not just as a 2D image but a 3D HOLOGRAM to capture the magic of opening for years to come.
Non-secret santa participants will be able to have a little token as well.

Oh cool that's still good to know! LIB is the 2nd best thing to an actual standardized avatar system across VR games. Zuck is trying to do that but he kinda sucks in his avatar implementation. A full on community effort across devs would do best.
Something where we can just easily load our VRchat avatars in is best. If someone makes an SDK like that will forever have my reverence and anime titties.

fiery. The game is fun at low skill levels. The FBT is very jank though; if you accidentally select the default game mode in multiplayer, it turns off and you can't turn it back on again unless you exit the lobby. The hit detection is jank enough too that I honestly think you could do the same kung fu melee system in vrchat udon and it'll feel okay. Would never be great but fun enough with silly avatars.

Each map is like 1-2GBs and this isn't like Contractors where the game autodownloads every mod you're subscribed to. I highly recommend using the predownloader here if you don't want to stand there waiting after every map change:
https://github.com/Greendayle/pavlov_mod_predownloader/releases/tag/v0.04
Copy the list of maps to a modlist.txt file in the same folder as the exe and run it. You can also use the uncompiled python script but you need to put your mod.io api key there.

Out of curiosity - are you anons using a wheel and everything, or do you play with controller(s)?
Anonymous No.505933298 Replies: >>505937008

As far as I know most anons got wheels fro rally and assetto, especially assetto.

WRC has pretty good controller support though, but g29 is not that expensive new, or used.
Anonymous No.505933536 Replies: >>505937008
>>505932397
People use wheels, but if there's any racing game that's any good for a controller, it's DR/WRC. Most of racing sims are near unplayable on a controller, WRC handles it somewhat alright, for example by applying minor corrections on straight that you probably couldn't perfom without a wheel otherwise.

I've ran one event on a controller, it was obviously far less precise and also kinda immersion breaking because your VR ingame hands are no longer more-or-less in your real life position, but it was also playable

The most heartfelt of gratitude to the video editor, who compiled around a hundred clips together to create the final product in about five days, integrating his own vision with minimal direction. The game is Home Sports. Bowling mode seems the most fun. Not sure if it supports a mix of local VR players and online players though.
This one is Catastrophic Inversion and it's kinda laser tag but you'll need a huge playspace and lots of players also still early in development.
Demeo supports local vr as well as for other games I've got no clue.

Tips for PUSH later tonight:

- try not to simply spawn in and run to the front. wait for others to spawn back in, formulate a plan. don't give the defenders a lot of 1 vs. X situations.

- Many maps have a medic class. Use your syringe to revive other players. for best effect, find a safe place to hunker down in a cover on defense, or be behind 2-3 attackers when your team trying to advance or pinned down. consistent rezzing keeps the pressure up, along with heals.

-Smokes are more important for thwarting defenders

- If your offense team is at 0 tickets but the remaining players on offense start capping a point either thru bomb plant or occupying, you can respawn without losing anymore tickets as long as the point is contested.

- Tanks need to move up with infantry. otherwise the only safe way to use them is as artillery

- supply classes should be nearby anti-tank, explosive wielding, or machine gun classes to keep them firing.

- if your teammate goes down and they're carrying valuable gear such as an mg or smokes, grab them.

- use prone!

- most machine guns have bipods. use them as suppressing fire or as area denial

In terms of downsides of that and raising the resolution uhhh the battery will drain faster.
Some games might run worse if you raise the resolution too high, although if you're just playing standalone stuff I don't think it'll be that much of an issue for a Quest 3.

Hey, latency Terry Davis!

I've exchanged email with the authors of original article, and they suspect, I might be polling previous frame position. He says that in his Unity app they measure the controller position at the very last moment possible

I've compared the most closest results and got picrelated. And checking VRChat docs:
https://creators.vrchat.com/worlds/udon/event-execution-order/ I do it in Update(), but I guess it was wrong and should have done it in PostLateUpdate()

I think I am actually changing the world color based on the previous frame hand position, not the one which is about to be displayed. Which means, all the VRChat results are longer by exactly one frame. If I correct them, I get pretty much the same results as the article.

I'm somewhere between considering quest pro as a second headset exclusively for VRC, thinking about one of lighthouse-based eyetracked headsets (vajra aero?) with vive facial tracker, and saying fuck it all.

it's pretty hard to say fuck it all to face tracking, even though it's objectively the right choice

I got the pico 4 pro and I'd say the face tracking is serviceable it does everything you'd want for it to do though quest pro is the better choice since it's more precise
The few things I prefer over the Quest Pro is that the pico feels more comfortable on the head and that the controllers are battery based so you can just pop in new batteries to keep playing unlike with the Quest Pro where you have to let them charge

I mean, I love jank, and I love new things that put fucking-around episode as a strict requirement rather than having a 'polished product' and that's about it. I wouldn't cope with downsides, I'd have a blast with downsides, stupid as it sounds.

But if anons say P4P face tracking is meh at worst and 'i'd say it's serviceable' at best, I'm not sure if it's worth this ~800eur first world retailers are asking for it. Around this price point, I could have one of those niche eye-tracking lighthouse headsets, and then I'd have something that could possibly both replace Index as HMD for normal vidya + also serve as face tracked VRC escapism helmet when paired with face tracker.

But one way or another, thanks for opinions, lots of good info.

for face tracking fidelity the general ranking is generally
>vive pro eye + face tracker > qpro > p4pro
can't speak to babble but many have said its not quite as good as the commercial products
qpro notably can't do tongue movements while a vive face tracker can, but those are discontinued and everyone seems to universally hate the vive focus vision's different eye/face tracking setup
if you've got an index there are a lot of DIY babble (or vive face tracker) with EyeTrackVR mods to look into so you don't have to get a whole other headset system to integrate
deckard will totally do face + eyes for sure though so just a few more weeks of waiting!
if you're a euro you can snag a qpro for like 500 eurobucks at the moment
its not worth the $1k USD asking price that I paid for it

I am euro, but so far I've seen only one offer of cheap quest pro, and it turned out to be kinda fake store wouldn't let me add it to basket despite claiming it's in stock. Do you mean used offers, or did I miss something around retailers? QP for 500eur would be a steal, especially given how ridiculously overpriced VPEye seems to be.

I don't want used QP because I've talked to at least one anon who had to RMA his because it was borked on arrival, plus supposedly it's susceptible to some kind of sweat-related damage. Then again, for 500eur it might be worth the risk.

yes, but brace yourself for infuriating episode of near zero kills through first week. it's not infuriating if you have the right mindset, but it takes a bit to get used to it, and given you'll be playing with fellow anons who do it weekly for years, the outcome is obvious. On the upside, once it clicks, you instantly become mid tier

long time ago good people used to nerf themselves to give people some room, unfortunately this tradition kinda died off through time. it's a shame really, but I believe in (You), you can simply accept the tutorial episode and then have proper fun with everyone once it's over. There is a minimum level of aim proficiency that you need in order for that to be true. Once you're past that level of aim, which isn't too high, then you're right that game sense is a more efficient way to get better. However, game sense doesn't matter if you literally cannot hit someone when you have a clear direct shot at them, which is where a lot of people who have never used motion controls or shot a gun before start off at.

Pavlov around /vrg/ has gone through a few cycles, at least in NA. Got played a lot for a while, but then the people who got really into it and spent time getting cracked and the casual anons who just showed up to lobbies 4fun started to drift apart drastically in skill level and it died off because it stopped being fun.

Then after like a year of NA pavlov being dead it got revived as drunk pavlov, which is what it sounds like, in an attempt to create a more fun and self-leveling playing field that wasn't just three or four guys with 5x the kills of everyone else.

That was also fun for a while, but the problem is, people started getting too good at playing while drunk, so now we're kinda back to square one. Potential solutions being explored include fentanyl pavlov and kratom pavlov.

>6 dof aiming

>armor eating damage before being destroyed but not for rifles
>multiple headshots to ping the helmet but not for rifles
With an MP5 you could stand 2 meters away, empty the magazine, have them turn around and kill you with a single AK headshot and see their health at 90% because of the various mechanics above.

A changelog just feels like unnecessary bloat to me for something like this, especially since I already think it's too long and wordy for most people to actually want to read all the way through. I did post changelogs in the thread a few times in the past when I made big updates to stuff in the OP, but I'm not sure I'd do a detailed one like those again.
I have a half finished draft that tried to reformat stuff and use lists of pros and cons but I never got around to cleaning it up, and I'd almost rather start from scratch when I get back around to that anyways.

H3VR is not suitably designed. Controllers are not as precise nor tactile as real hands, so there needs to be at least some leniency to not make it frustrating and unrealistically difficult. Contractors requires greater precision in all actions and that usually just devolves into a cycle of spawn > kill > die > repeat rarely reloading or using anything from your inventory because it is far too slow to do anything for the pace of the game.

Reloading is fine in Pavlov. Players regularly die due to badly timed reloads.

Controllers not having any collision with gun is what fucks it up for me in h3.

That would be even worse because you'd have an unstoppable force interacting with the Unity physics engine. You already get a taste of that when the magazines starts flipping around the gun and violent oscillating instead of entering the magwell because the alignment was imperfect.

Still the case on that one I reckon. At least when I last checked the default values for the AR they all have 100% armor pen so it's effectively pointless to buy any if you're fighting against them since there's virtually no bullet tagging in the game compared to cs.

The last two points are still true. The first three shots on the MP5 do 2 damage each and it takes four shots to remove the helmet. It's a waste of money now, but imagine the damage being halved, the bullets coming out at 30 degree angles, the hitbox being two meters away from the player model, and hundreds of milliseconds of desync between clients. It was a noobtrap on a completely different level.

I tried hipfiring in pavlov but its like the game wont let me and my gun would always tilt down. Really weird designs. I'm starting to think the game has too much tech debt to be fixeable.

Yeah, there's a movement penalty if you fire or point your barrel too far away from straight down. Fag gliding around and artificial turning with their perfectly stabilized vstock would be absolutely cancerous without it.

Because the test shows still a realistic situation of a real game, even though there is one frame delay, the relative performance is still relevant. And the error was trivial to correct.

Also the proprietary openxr test app has the most trivial scene to encode - a flat color. Encoder and encoder delay, which is dependant on bandwith and scene complexity is on the best case.

Also please note, that even with vrchat and pico connect, at low resolution and low bitrate over usb, you can get wireless pico delay to be the same as standalone pico. But as soon as scene complexity, bandwith and resolution goes up, so does the delay.

Terry still haven't made a noise version. And we still dont have a comparative wired hmd delay with his ultra basic application.

swapchainImageCount shouldn't matter, it's a redundant code for the normal flat window, openxr relies on some objects in that codepath, but the window is destroyed right away.

im not planning to run another test at the moment or plug my hmd back in since its back on my shelf for now, just wanted to run quick tests to get a quick idea of how things compared to VRChat running on SteamVR/Moando+OpenComposite via OpenVR versus OpenXR
there's a bit of confusion with adjusting for the vrc map polling position a bit late but at a glance with the small counts of data (4 tests under monado, 3 under steamvr) it seems faster

oh, I'm sorry it's 1.62 times longer delay. I averaged in my brain for effect. But don't forget it's the minimum complexity scene. 42 ms for static color. Looking at the results with noisy box, it can increase delay significantly, so I definitely expect higher latency on quest 2 wireless even with super optimal low level app to be around 2 times longer than a wire.

But as with the initial results, I applaud wifi latency. With all extra work, it's definitely still worse than Display Port, as expected, but isn't that bad. Still high enough to feel sluggish at high resolution high bitrate realistic gaming scenario.

Keep in mind, that we now have results of 3 separate experiments on the table. Realistic game scenario, with setups most people used, but capturing the controller poses in slightly different parts of the game loop (Update and PostLateUpdate). And an ultra idealistic, minimum application scenario, which has no frame buffering and only renders one static color. Which is not realistic, but it's what SteamVR, SteamVR drivers, WiFi apps and games should strife for and what's achievable.

Only absolute retards frame buffer in vr. It's even hard to do with OpenXR in the first place, like you have to really try. I can't even think of a way you do it from the top of my head, maybe use tracking data from the last frame? It's just not a natural to way to use it.

As for scene complexity, at absolute worse, it's going to be 7ms more, if you push gpu utilization to 100%.
Maybe less even, but not worse than that for sure.
Assuming high complexity scene doesn't make encoder shit itself, which is not the case for usb link as far as I can tell from my limited testing.

wrong, you also get increased encoding/decoding delay and trasmission time, due to bigger frames (on adaptive encoding schemes). I highly doubt that your encoder on Oculus Link used 500 megabits to encode plain red color without any movement on the screen. My noise vs noiseless cubes don't differ significantly in decent PC gpu load or frame times, but turning on noise adds significant delays for the Pico Connect, Virtual Desktop, ALVR encoders.

the autists certainly have a hand ESPECIALLY this time yes, 42 instances of the word code is fucking ridiculous usually.

but i still don't see why the need to obfuscate the code in the first place and not mention it specifically when the instance goes live or at least have the post you made earlier with the code be an OP reply so its easier to find.

I'm the anon you are replying to and now will play devil's advocate :3

The easier it is to find the code in the thread, the easier it is to just drop by and do a quick run by on the thread just getting the code then never opening it back again.

I still think the code being easier to see in the thread is better though just because it guarantees people will eventually form a habit opening the thread for our events. The more events we collectively make, the more the habit formation can occur. vs
The code being too hard to find then you just ask a friend for it who thinks you read the thread.
What do you think?

Yeah I still have a video of one drunk pavlov from I think 2020. I've always been an intuition first kind of person so being drunk makes me a lot better at pavlov (and pool) because I can let me intuition run free and not let my thoughts get in the way. It is true though that a few shitters (obnoxious or good) can kill a game. I'd recommend bonelab as a change of pace if pavlov is getting too stale because it's a mostly co-operative experience. Hopefully that would transcend the zero-sum problem that pavlov has.

BONELAB

Here's a core pack, it contains most of the stuff that's usually used in games. It's big, but you download it once and then it stays between weeks:
https://gofile.io/d/mr1y6G

Worlds avatars, minor per-week assets, those will change weekly:
https://gofile.io/d/Bs6luh

And remember to download boneworks mod, as in >>506068673:
https://mod.io/g/bonelab/m/boneworks

Lots of downloading today, but it's for a good cause. Having 2gb worth of per-week worlds will surely help with weekly changes in the future.

I mean you can use quest 3 with FBT but the quest 3 doesn't come with anything that helps with FBT at all. You basically need to buy everything else.
If you wanna get into FBT... the index is still a reasonable headset. No compression, no hassle, just works. Don't need to buy a new router, don't need batteries, etc etc. Someone is gonna come along and say that I'm an index shill or something and while I don't think you should be buying an index in 2025, it does come with lighthouses.

yes, with hybrid systems.
Also, you could just get pico 4 (ultra) and it's 60 buck fbt JUST WORKS, no hybrid issue, no drift recalibration. It's not as good as Vive trackers but it's pretty good.

Pro 2 has very sharp image the middle, but the sharpness falls off drasticaly towards the edges. It's also got wide horizontal FoV if you use thin facefoam, but vertical is meh, and microphones are bad. The VP2 driver also deals VERY badly in VRAM starved scenarios, usually just irrecoverable hang or crash (sometimes restarting the linkbox helps). And the high resolution will want all the VRAM. You WILL need at least 16 gigs of vram for good experience. And overall it's pretty heavy and uses last gen lens.

Might want Pimax Crystal Light, if you want upgraded lens/screens and lighthouse.

VRCHAT PCVR. If you play actual games you WILL be annoyed by compression artifacts and delay.

Yesterday at push some people couldn't distinguish friend or foe without nameplates, because compression would make camouflaged people into a blurry mush and mute colors. (it was yellow desert camo vs brown camo on desert enviroment background.

Let's treat it as a badge of honor I guess.
Last time they fixed it in less than 48 hours.

Stop making threads when we are on page 7, retard.
The thread will easily live for an hour or two more.

Last time you complained the thread fell off page 10 with no new thread in sight
Either keep the thread up yourself or fuck off

Last time I complained was the previous and the thread before that.
And every single time I was correct.
At least wait for page 9, but 10 would be even better.

And it was the one made after it's predecessor died, so if you complained there congratulations, you played yourself
