How many would be down to play Pavlov Shack lobbies? Aka the Quest 3 stand alone version of Pavlov?
Got alot of quest users nowdays, and the streaming latency kinda sucks for PC play.

anon, this is PCVR discrimination. i dont have a quest, what am i supposed to do? on the flipside, quest players can play PCVR.

With crunchy visuals at 50-60ms or clean visuals at 80-110 ms motion to photon delay...
Reminder:
Collaboration conclusions
Wired headsets:
90 Hz baseline is 40 ms
are slighly slower than connected monitors showing the game window?
Vive Wireless adds around 10 ms, resulting around 50 ms total, which kinda makes sense, as there must be a frame buffer somewhere?
Wifi connected headsets:
at 50 megabits, which looks pretty bad, you can get near the vive pro wireless delay, but still 10-20 ms slower (57-70 ms overall, depending on scene complexity)
at around 150 megabits, which looks better, you get around 80 ms delay - double that to display port connected headset
at 400 megabits when compression artifacts start to be less noticable you get 110 ms delay, which is quite a lot, explains why people report that they are less accurate in shooter games
faster wifi does not help with latency, but allows higher video bandwith at a cost of latency
Pico Connect seems to be as good as Virtual Desktop at equivalent bitrates and video encoders, latency wise. Makes sense as all our collaborators use NVIDIA video cards, Pico Connect and Virtual Desktop use the same GPU hardware encoders, and both Pico and Quest are XR2 devices with the same decoders.
virtual desktop "total delay" seems to be missing 40 ms compared to full motion to photon delay.
Using USB cable shouldn't change the total delay dramatically, but might reduce some of the transmission delay.
Linux:
opensource Monado and ALVR linux VR stack seems to have quite more latency on wired and wifi headsets, like there are 2-3 frames delay added.

Speaking of steam link I tried it the other day had no audio, anyone had this problem before? I don't think I have the audio drivers for some reason

Pavlov Shack have most of the good maps on mod.io, for modded guns I don't care. Gonna look into gamemodes later. Shack is where the majority of players are, so mod support should be as good or better then PCVR.

Finally my favourite British railway quote in a movie
>>505666623
I'm skeptical about these results.
Kinda weird that all results are coming from lighthouse users too, who obviously have an agenda.
I would have done the test myself, but I don't use vrchat. I can rewrite the test using openxr/vulkan directly, because nobody serious uses trannychat. I think that's the reason there not so many results submitted in the first place.
But flicking the controllers while recoding 120fps video is such a ghetto way to measure, is it even worth the effort.
>>505673706
Try and disprove them then, the methods are open. All you have to do is do something other than complain on 4chan, which is high bar.
>>505674167
I'm not using trannychat, so I will have to rewrite it.
The current state of the test is just trash honestly.
>>505674294
That's great, when can we expect results? It would be good to have a less ghetto way of testing.
It'd also be good to see where these lighthouse-agenda tetherlets managed to edit their video and delete frames showing how slow their headset really is, and to prove that they added frames to the videos when they were testing superior low latency wireless headsets just to fudge the results. Either that or the volunteers submitting their wireless results purposefully wanted to make their headset look slower, which is ridiculous.
>>505674617
Need to decide on a proper methodology first.
The test itself can be written in a day.
>>505674759
>the volunteers submitting their wireless results purposefully wanted to make their headset look slower
Only lighthouse users submitted the results so far. An obvious potential conflict of interests.
>>505674886
>Only lighthouse users submitted the results so far. An obvious potential conflict of interests.
There are entries where lighthouses aren't used at all, did you find out who submitted those to confirm they weren't actually free from the lighthouse conspiracy?
>>505674974
I remember the old versions of the chart and the original posts.
Pico results are made by the same person who made the map.
>>505675058
Fair enough, it's a reasonable assumption that any vrchat user would have lighthouses for their tranny trackers.
>>505675108
He also made a vid with index controllers at the same time, it's not an assumption.
>>505675165
Well I know a few non-lighthouse users (slimes/haritoras/etc) that could be asked to see if there is actually a lighthouse user bias in the recorded video.
>>505675291
I have an optimal setup myself, so I can check if it's bullshit or not.
Yeah, whatever, fuck it, I will write it right now.
>>505675552
Sounds like a good final solution to the lighthouse question
>>505675058
There are mutliple picos, anon.
>>505675552
If you write a seperate testing application then and test your wireless hmd, then lighthouse people should also test it for reference. Your frame submission code might have different vsync buffors, and different overall delay.
>>505675552
Good luck getting people to download your sketchy exe for testing. Especially as you malevolently deny validity of tests performed in a naturalistic enviroment, in an actual game people use.
>>505677312

>>505675552
>Have an optimal setup
>Instead of trying to use existing testing solution and comparing results with a good selection of submissions wants to redo everything and invent a bicycle first
Anon kun, just count the frames.
>>505677381
Good luck with that. Youll bever get non enthusiasts to test with that approach. Im not reading your code when there is a naturalistic sandboxed tool available.
>>505677183
>Your frame submission code might have different vsync buffers, and different overall delay.
There is only one way to submit frame data through openxr.
You do it with "xrEndFrame", there is no explicit syncing, the api does it for you.
>>505677312
I never denied anything. I'm just skeptical.
If you are worried, nobody forces you to download. I just want to see the expected latency for myself too.
>>505677381
Source is not happening. You are not going to be able to compile anyway.

Why do most PCVR games look like dogshit unless you have a NASA PC with 3x4090's? What can be done about this? Tried MSFS2024 on my 3060, it runs smooth at medium low but feels like sitting in front of a 1990s 240p CRT TV
>>505678521
Resolution is king and you need a monster GPU to render those games at 6K+. I'm willing to put up with MSFS at 45fps with retroprojection if I can supersample enough to be able to read the dials without leaning forward.
There will be a Christmas Santa's lap event* on Saturday, December 21st! I have arranged for a very special guest Santa to be available to hear your Christmas wishes! Come see him! The amount of time you get to spend with him will be based on how many people show up. Once you've told Santa your wishes, lists will be provided to your parents.
Hope to see you there!

>>505677729
>I'm not using vrchat.
Just... Use it once? To see how your setup compares to others. Good look getting people to do YET another round of tests just because your autistic ass cant be bothered to use existing tools and want to rewrite from scratch. Not using existing tool for reference you're just making yourself seem hostile for no reason.
Although it would be interesting to compare pure C api without an engine with vrchat implementation. Althouh its not naturalistic, but it could set the bar of whats possible.
Dont forget to implement noisy and noiseless versions, noise should vhange every frame to stress the encoder/decoder and simulate scene with a lot of movement with high detail textures like trees, grass, confetti.
>>505678903
>>>/trash/vrlg/71475219
>>505678797
>retroprojection
Whats that? Are you talking about the spacewarp in Virtual Desktop? That shit just makes it more blurry imo.
>>505678521
Because you need at least 3k x 3k per eye for it to be not blurry? Try running flat games at 6k x 3k resolution and achieve 90 FPS, I dare you. And no DLSS and shit, because it just looks blurry in vr. Real pixels, real framerate.
>>505678989
Yeah that's the thing. You need to go into MSFS option and turn on the setting to give motion vectors for the retroprojection algorithim to work and it only works with VDXR. The one with SteamVR is bugged.
I only use it for that game. For every other games it doesn't work.
>>505678989
Reprojection rotates and warps the view of a previous frame if the game didn't submit one in time. Making head rotations smooth and mostly correct. Moving scenery and your hands will still stutter, as they update every second frame.
>>505678973
Our mystery secret santa is a married man and won't put up with that. Sorry!
>>505678970
>To see how your setup compares to others.
If the best case scenario result is bad, there is no point.
>Although it would be interesting to compare pure C api
Exactly.
> without an engine
There is always an engine, you are just using the api directly.
>Dont forget to implement noisy and noiseless versions
Was planning to make particles option later.
>>505679414
>If the best case scenario result is bad, there is no point.
The best case scenario of wired 90 hz hmd being at 40 ms in vrchat correlates well with literature, published in scientific journal. They used self written from scratch app and robotic arm to move the controller and also got 40 ms for Index at 90Hz. If youd paid attention youd know.
>>505679756
>reading comprehension
I know about the study. I'm saying if the latency is really 70ms+ for the quest streaming, there is no point in testing further.
>>505679414
https://link.springer.com/content/pdf/10.3758/s13428-022-01983-5.pdf
The vrchat implementation of the testing protocol seems to be adequate enough.
>>505679886
Then why do you want to reimplement the test bench from scratch? And dont even want to compare your supposedly optimal setup on existing test bench?
>>505680046
Not using vrchat. This is where I draw the line.

you can just use your steam account then lol
>>505671395

>>505681461
Throwaway gmail account? Like it doesn't matter how much they track you if you use a fresh throwaway windows install on default settings just to make an account, use it for a single thing (signing up to steam) and then using VRC for 20 minutes and nuking the entire thing and never using it again.
I got the app working.
What the is the distance required to register the move in the original map?
Any games where you can be a sicko? Attack women, torture people, preferably, like blade and sorcery, and that one FPS gun game whose name I forgot, where you can torture and mutilate npcs with guns.
>>505681614
it uses a calibrated jitter of the controllers to set the threshold
>>505681614
How it works is you put your controller flat, hit a calibrate button and sets a 'highest value' of movement which is roughly peak jitter. So basically; any meaningful movement signal from your controller above baseline noise.
so you're telling me the best the compressionlets can send for coping is someone who doesn't want to make a vrchat account yet MUST use a Meta or Pico account?
>>505680826
You dont need to make vrchat account, you can log in using steam, schizo
>>505681461
But there is? Just click log in using steam when starting the game?

>>505682214
You can't.
>>505682003
kek
>>505681614
Maybe if you paid attention and read the posted udon code you knew? It measures resting unmoving controller jitter - distance controller travelled between frames for 4 seconds, takes the maximum distance and adds 10% margin. Thats the distance treshold to count as "moving".

There was no announcement. But the Meta and Pico accounts work without VRChat account, I used pico to test pico standalone. I did not use my steam account to log in to VRChat in a long time, but there was no announcement about it being depreciated, and the button is still there. I might try it later today.
You said you wont use VRChat, now you say it doesnt work for you. Which is it? You know you can just use throwaway email to login to vrchat account just like cvr or anytging else? If you want to collaborate in good intentions on this benchmark youll have to compare results on your bench with vrchat bench. Otherwise youre just a crazy schizo.
>>505682814
So you are too white to understand c# code? Retard.

You don't need a noise shader when you can just spawn particles.
It's mostly a sanity check for latency, so I personally know what to expect.

No they're great, literally the best part about the original Knuckles/Index controllers. None of the Quest 3 third party ones are really as good as the actual Knuckles strap but they work well enough.

Anyone have a good guide? My avatar is full of this shit and from my understanding (unless I'm mistaken) the best way to fix this shit is to go into substance painter and redo normal maps or whatever the hell.

Can't really even tell what I am looking at here. I can see a seam but there could be many reasons for that. It could be the normals but it could be caused both by the normals themselves being incorrect, or by the meshes geometry just resulting in normals like that.
If you've imported the mesh into Unity, you should be able to go to the mesh file and in the files import settings you can choose whether to import the normals or calculate them. Switch it to calculating the normals. If the problem still persists then it's probably due to the meshes geometry and to fix this you'd ideally be better off fixing the source of the problem (you could manually edit the normals but having a mesh with shit geometry could present more problems in the future).
>>505692206
being able to let go of your controllers is great
>>505703079
what is the actual issue? if it's some ugly sharp lines on an actual normal map you can just blur it with an image editor of your choice, no SP needed but you could also use SP
this looks like a vertex normal issue though imo

I preferred the original Rift controllers that could simply by picked up and put down without having to adjust the strap every time. Letting go with three fingers was fine. The Index finger tracking handling the grip state is one of the worst video game inputs in history, so its close connection to the straps also influences my opinion.

EU Assetto Corsa: European Racing club, season 12!
Race 86
19:00 UTC 20:00 CET, Monday 16th of December 2024.
The last race of this season! LMP2, one of the fastest racing cars class in existence. In BRAZIL. Get ready for some fast endurance racing (it won't take too long).
1 hour practice
12 minutes qualifiers
12 laps race
After that some driving around in Scotland, the drive of survivors.
Assetto - can be played with wheel, controller, or steam-vr-wheel addon, it doesn't matter, we will all have fun driving together. If you just bought Asseto - grab Assetto Corsa Content Manager - a better launcher and mod manager: https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html To install mods: just drag and drop zip files from mega onto the Content Manager windows and click on the hamburger menu on top right. Highly recommend installing stable custom shader patch and 7-zip plugin in Content manager.

He's a helpfull AI fellow in the pits who'll provide you information about your car, your opponents, yell at you or try to encourage you. And most importantly, he will spot for you, in case you have a car in you blind spot.
UI radar are immersion breaking and basically cheating, but this guy will tell you verbally if someone is there on your right. Download, install, select Asseto Corsa in game list, press "Start application" and it should work!

Index pressure sensitive grip is the best grip state handling solution in the video game input history. It just works, you grab - you grab, you let go - you let go. It's close connection with straps let's you throw grenades without thinking. I love my Index controllers, and Roys are disappointment.

Fiddling about with this seems to have fixed things somehow. Thank you!!
>>505704431
It's ugly sharp lines, yeah.
The pic was of the ankle during a blendshape, but the issue was also present on a point between the upper arm and shoulder as well as a few other locations.
Toggling off the blendshapes and fiddling with what the other anon said seems to have fixed things though (with the heel-shape blendshape on, there's still an ugly line, but it's better than before, and I can make-do with that I guess).
Another excuse to avoid substance painter for now...

>Index pressure sensitive grip is the best grip state handling solution in the video game input history. It just works, you grab - you grab, you let go - you let go.
...Except for when it doesn't work and the grab is stuck despite you no longer holding your controllers. Or it doesn't recognize your grab at all.
>>505704703
Well you but my point is that for it to be anywhere near decent you'd need at least 2 4090's. I watched flight sim vr guy on youtube and even he is getting like 45 fps on ultra with his single 4090 gpu.
The hardware is not there yet unless you're a rich fag.
>>505705212
If you're using blendshapes then you'll usually run into problems with normals. The problem is the normals don't get updated to the meshes new shape and that is probably what is causing the issue.

Ya but don't both referrer and refer-y get some cash? Like the zukbuks would go to my account right so I could just factory reset both after referring him on it, then we swap?
It's really just a natural shift in culture. There are so many subgroups that have little regard (or actual contempt) for the idea of "vrg" as a whole who will spit in the face of any attempt to reconcile a lot of the issues.
My main gripe last night is that the vrg thread on /vg/ has become a no fun place full of angry boring people. Look at the thread today. It's shills arguing over whether wires or wireless headsets are better.
If someone tries to funpost or even post about vrchat they get shouted down by angry retards. It's such a a dreadfully boring thread now and most of the people I actually enjoy talking to don't browse the thread regularly or at all anymore. It's very on topic most of the time but it's also devoid of funposting, jokes, memes, drama, schizophrenia, and all of the other things that makes 4chan fun.
I think a common problem that's more or less universal to all of the vrg subgroups is this (unfounded) smug sense of superiority that they seem to have. People will be snooty because they think that the other groups are too welcoming or randos, or too lewd, etc etc. it really ruins cohesion when everyone is just off in their own respective corners thinking they're better than everyone else.
One of the things I like about this place is that it's a bit more shitposty and unpredictable, like 4chan people should be. I also feel that there's a lot less of that smug sense of superiority here.
My general state of being displeased with the vrg thread and some of the cliquishness is why I decided to start being more active here.

while this thread does suck dick now, pretending like /trash/ is great by comparison is quite a take.
just yesterday i opened it up to check it out and there was either someone doxxing someone else's IRL selfie images while pretending to be them, or someone that unironically spammed IRL images of themselves asking people to rate them, with the majority of the thread obliging.
if that thread is so bad it's gotten to the point where it's not even about VR anymore, i don't really understand how you can sing its praises and point to it as an example that this thread should follow.
>>505723160
tl;dr:
The vrg thread on /vg/ has become a dull, overly serious space where funposting, jokes, and creativity have been replaced by tedious arguments and cliquish superiority. This lack of humor and inclusivity makes it unappealing, prompting the writer to seek more unpredictable, genuine interactions elsewhere.

You're looking at this weirdly.
The fix to this is to not disdain and diminish autistic tech arguments, we are slow enough as is. There is more than enough space
Autistic tech arguments need to continue and even increase as they are.
What would be perfect though is if other types of posts come and roll in as well. Promote avatar and selfie and vr posting from in-game. The Explorations both NA and SEA does this well as well as PyPy as an example.

Post the video. Compare it with VRChat bench anyway. I don't care about your psychosis about vrchat use, just fucking do it.
Also I don't believe you can go lower than Display Port connection when you need to encode, transmit, decode, and then copy the frame over internal eDP connection from quest 2 gpu to displays.
There is one thing though: Carmak. Rift CV1 was 20 ms faster compared to Index in that study. What if that super optimised code still lives in the oculus runtime and somehow shaves 20ms of the baseline?
You still need to test in vrchat benchmark and using SteamVR as OpenXR runtime. This is only starting to get interesting.
But you have to post the video. Extraordinary claims, require prooves. The other anons tests have a whole google drive of raw verifiable slow mo. You don't have anything.

This sounds like lawyer words. What are the specific attempts "to make our thread 'better' " that you disagree with?
If the problem is the guys telling others to stop posting pictures from VR be it selfies or exploration then I agree with you.
If the problem is keeping the wholesome(non-lewd) posting here in /vrg/ properly then I would disagree with you.
>>505733750
>not to provide exclusive content
But it's not exclusive though? Your /vrlg/ friends can still join your event even if it was posted just here in /vrg/. Rift S had a higher latency in that data but the refresh rate is lower, which as the Index shows resulted in higher latency too. The potential latency of a wired Oculus 90Hz slam tracked headset was probably pretty close to the OG Rift.

hey look, it's a generic hdmi cable! I bet it has like 15ms more latency than a proprietary cable! go chase it!
>>505736934
I'll probably go back to pypy, but:
I hosted pypy every monday, tuesday, and thursday for several years. I was also there longer each night than almost everyone because most people drift in 15-30 minutes late. And it goes from 9-11 PM my time which is 1) relatively late and 2) during prime time for doing other stuff.
That's six hours of prime time a week.
I did it for a very long time and when this raid tier started in XIV I decided to take a break from pypy and reclaim some of my free time.
It doesn't help that NA pypy has a very strong culture of being quiet and dancing. Dancing silently to the same songs every night...well, I won't say it's boring but I need to take a break for awhile.
I also wanted to save my muscles for some more intensive work outs with actual equipment for awhile.
>>505736530
>Why doesn't it turn back red when controller stops moving?
I read that incorrectly.
The way the app works is explained in >>505730728 , if you are afraid to download the exe and test yourself.

Well it does. Maybe it's Carmack magic. Try steamvr, try wireless with your app. Try a real wired vr headset with your app. Send the source code over.

>>505744767

>>505744884
The first general thread was the toaru majutsu no indekkusu (aka index) threads on /a/.
a bitter battle was fought over whether they should exist or not and it was originally ruled that no, they could not have a general thread
but time passed and eventually the mods capitulated and allowed general threads which led to league of legends general and eventually /vg/
I think when the mods cucked on general threads was truly the beginning of the end

I think what oculus runtime and low level app did is slash some of the baseline rendering delay/buffors delay.
Like if it can slash 20 ms, then on steamvr in vrchat that setup should achieve 58 ms. Which would still be pretty impressive.
Right now the low level self written app quest 2 @ 120 Hz over usb (38 ms) is on par with VRChat + SteamVR on Vive Pro 2 @ 120 Hz over DP (36 ms).
I really, really want to know your delays in vrchat benchmark.
>>505744264
>Being skewed by vrchat or steamvr, or something.
I've long wanted to further compare the versions of VRChat so this is interesting to hear. The devs claim implementing OpenXR is a huge rework for them so the Steam version still uses OpenVR which leaves the Rift store version as the only way to use the Oculus runtime. Anecdotally the latter runs better for me but I don't have a camera capable of high framerate recording otherwise I'd test your map on both to determine whether there's any effect on latency.
I bought my pico half a year ago and the controllers still have not run out of battery. What kind of alien technology did they put in there?

I didnt want an extra weight on my head - otherwise i would take that bobo3 strap with everything.
This way i can take it off when the headset i recharged.
I only had it on my neck for an hour or so, when i was testing it yesterday, and it wasn’t uncomfortable at all. That being said i dont have a “baseline for expectations” so idk if having that weight on my head strap would be less comfortable.
So far, the only thing i regret buying are those headphones. I am pretty much forced to use my old headphones now.

pick a diet and stick to it
>>505783730
I wanted to replace one meal a day with oats to cut fats and overall calories since oats are fibrous and filling, but it turns out when I am hungry my body really doesn't want oatmeal...
>>505784089
>Oats
Oats is carbs and will make you feel hungry since it lacks the nutrients you need and just gets converted to fat by your body as it becomes glucose in your blood stream.
I've had more success with a protein rich diet
>>505784214
You know if you talk about anything getting converted to fats you're a retard. Excess calories = body stores available fats
>>505784398
Not quite you must look at it on a differential basis on how much sugar stays in your blood stream at a certain length of time.
A burst of glucose will store more fats (then send you a hunger signal later) than a slow burn of protein that trickles into your blood stream.
Pic related
The blue line is the amount of glucose in your blood stream that signals the release of insulin.
Even if the green (protein) one is the same amount of total area (energy) compared to the red (carbs) based one, the signal to start pumping lots of insulin is the same.
Thus the shaded areas are the excess glucose converted into fat by your body.
A burst / shock of glucose will always store more fat than the green one
UNLESS you resist the urge to eat more.
Calories in Calories out is still king. But the red (carbs) based one makes you feel a lot hungrier and would require a lot more will power or discipline to do.
>>505785002
Luckily, oats are very low on glucose
>>505785082
Oh, I was under the impression it's just like rice. My bad.
t.asian
>>505783674
It's hard to explain quickly but some quick wins:
Count calories
REMOVE ALL EMPTY CALORIES FROM YOUR DIET COMPLETELY
When choosing what to eat, always pick the least empty calorie.
Don't touch overly processed food. Food should take time to digest. From field to plate it should have the least possible stripped from it.
>>505785002
the struggle I have with oats is twofold
>they taste like shit if you don't add fat and sugar
>a full bowl of oatmeal with no additions is less than 200 calories, so even if I had a sizeable lunch that puts me at a very deep deficit for the day.
If I eat too little, or have too many low calorie foods like oats and lettuce, I end up with difficult to control cravings. Snacking on chips, popcorn, cheese, salami, chocolate, etc will undo several days of dieting in the span of minutes. Best to not overdo it I think, and stay in control.
Maybe oats could be mixed with vegetables and meat like rice can? I am not sure how that would taste. VR has made me want this more than ever though. I fucking hate being fat, and sounding like a fat piece of shit whenever I talk, seeing the mic levels spike up from my labored fat people breathing and knowing that everyone around can hear how fat I am, even if I don't look it in VR.
>>505783674
just dont breakfast, worked for me
>>505786427
Oats can be mixed with raisins and nuts to both make it NOT TASTE LIKE ASS and get a better distribution of calories and nutrition. Not too many raisins though.
As for why sugar in fruit is okay but sugar in candies is not, see the chart above; fruit sugars take longer to tease out of the fruit body itself so the sugar spike isn't as sharp.

A man of great autism produced a VRChat test world to specifically test the delay between moving a controller and the update being registered on the headset screen (i.e. the whole pipeline). He owns an index and a pico so he got some varying results, and the testing expanded from there.
tl;dr wireless headsets and standalone headsets have a larger delay than PCVR headsets with direct video feed (no shit sherlock).

Cutting soda/candy and counting calories works for me even eating garbage. I'm able to hit ~1300 kcal eating fried chicken tenders every day while feeling full. It also helps to distract yourself with work, avoid snacks, and drink a lot of water. I'm down about 50lbs from mid-2023. But yes that diet is actually a weak 4/4 of this list:
>>505786223
1. Calories counted
2. Remove all empty calories - All sugar at least, should remove the oil from the tendie coating but a bit of fat is better than a lot of sugar due to reason 4 below
3. Chimken, even if it's steamed off the bone and pulped beforehand is still full of chimken nutrients, fat, protein, etc. It's made from chimken and they didn't pull much out of it to make it.
4. Fat takes longer to digest so you don't get spikes in blood sugar nor big troughs between meals causing hunger. Digestion time is part of regulating hunger.

The trick to weight loss is pretty simple. If you try to make drastic changes you will fail. You have to make smaller changes over time.
Essentially you need to gradually reduce what you eat, and gradually increase what you do.
You can either go for a short walk, 15 minutes is fine and overtime increase it. If a 15 minute walk is something you cannot or wont do then you're not serious about this.
Next, write down what you eat, do this everyday for a week. Now pick out one thing from each day, and either remove it, or replace it with a lower calorie alternative. If you find yourself eating lots of snacks, it should be easy to simply remove one of these.
Then in a months time, do this again, and repeat.
If you try to rush weight loss, you will 100% fail. It's not about some meme diet or exercise routine, weight loss is about making a lifestyle change. You have to stick at it forever otherwise you'll simply regain the weight.
Personally, I'd also recommend lifting weights. Not only will this massively increase your overall fitness, you will literally shed pounds of weight, and eventually when you gain muscle mass you will look great.
But lifting weights is hard work and it's not for everyone. But if you do it and manage to stick with it, in 6 months you will notice a huge difference.

Collaboration conclusions, Vrchat, full controller motion to reaction displayed on screen times, measured using slow mo footage.
Using USB cable shouldn't change the total delay dramatically, but might reduce some of the transmission delay (it does)
Linux:
opensource Monado and ALVR linux VR stack seems to have quite more latency on wired and wifi headsets, like there are 2-3 frames delay added.
Overall:
steam vr/vrchat might be adding 1-2 frames frame buffer. Low level direct OpenXR apps can reduce latency by using oculus runtime directly and not prefendering ahead of time

Second: an objective quantification on wireless feeling of "sluggishness" and loss of accuracy in fast paced shooter games compared to wired headsets.

Its a result which measured completely different stack, demonstrating what is possible at lowest level, if the software world was better...
>>505812505

Second is low level app speaking to steamvr openxr which then speaks to virtual desktop and wifi.

>>505814620
And with USB wired hmd, games running on SteamVR will have a few layers before they get to oculus link and oculus runtime.
There will be always additional delay, unless you only run openxr games which speak directly to openxr oculus runtime, and no encoding. As I remind you that cv1 had 20 ms delay.
Need to test a dp wired hmd with a low level openxr app steamvr but our Tery refuses to give the source code.
>>505813239

Decoding is not the problem. USB link proves that XR2 can chew through 500mbps h264 easily, on unknown encoder settings though.
>>505818149
Runtime is what the headset uses.
The application only assumes there is a generic OpenXR interface. Everything that provides it will work, theoretically, only tested with q2 through link and vd though.
>>505818306
its not like it matters anyway since all that matters is the delta between various setups and devices assuming the same baseline test is used

i had a high interest at first when i thought all of vrg would get equal interest and representation but like pavlov man for the vrfps people etc
but the roster never represented all of vrg it always felt like it represented haloboys and vrchat only
so i stopped giving a fuck
>>505826523
yea i prefer NPC v NPC soccer
>>505826139
desu the issue that commenting the matches in real time here is forbidden because people are watching it later in VR is kind of a bummer

to add to this the roster should have always been
1 player for vrfps
1 player for golfing vrfps
1 player for (current non-vrchat meme game)
1 player for the mahjong vr people
1 player for pypy
and so on and so forth
individually get each of those group invested by asking them to contribute their representative and they'll literally be more invested
>>505826364
Gentlemen, we have entered into the Iphone 3G era of VR. Gooks are on the level of chinks when it comes to innovation.
>>505826656
I have had other suggestions for other games on the roster polls every time for years and most of them never get even close to enough votes to making it every time.
Pavlov especially has been on the poll every fucking time for the last like 4 years straight and it never gets remotely close to enough votes.
It was suggested before to just force those games into the roster anyway regardless of if no one votes for them but I don't really know how right that would have been either.
>>505826872
Aside from the vrfps player we literally have this/had this roster this year. We had a pypy player, we have a mahjong player, we have a golf player, beat saber, etc.
>>505826705
I get that, but no one really responds to any of the posts in the thread anymore and even though we've always been a general that mostly watches the VODs in VR instead of live, we did used to have a decent amount of people come out to watch live in the chat. I think during our last game I saw one other chatter that wasn't me.

Lacking the "Apple use propiertary connector wich sucks" argument thanks to EU. But other then that, it's late 2000 again bros.
>>505827336
We watched the first one live ingame. No idea about the second one, I was away that day.
>>505826578
I appreciate that, it's just been hard for me to gauge whether or not people are still interested or would be sad if the team stopped existing based on the thread these days.
While a lot of people still come out to watch in VR in NA at least and the instance hits numbers of like 60 people, it mostly feels like it's people that did read the thread in the past but have stopped, and since this is supposed to be a team for the thread, that's the interest I'm trying to actually gauge and foster.
>>505827065
It's a vicious cycle. VR games don't get votes so no point nominating or voting the next time. Since you can nominate and vote as many as you want VRChat related reps will dominate when the majority of voters are primarily or only interested in VRChat.
If there was one game to force onto the roster it was Pavlov. Early /vrg/ played it a ton, EUs have been playing it at least once weekly for over 5 years and NAs are much the same with semi-regular drunk Pavlov. It's a core part of /vrg/ and the cornerstone of the vrfps autism that exists here.
>>505827065
i made the vrfps representative the first year and the second year the team was stacked with haloboy memes so i gave up caring, didn't even bother voting because it just seemed the soccer team was not only just a vrchat thing but a mostly one clique's vrchat thing
>>505828846
At this point I'm fine with re-doing the roster and forcing some players on for next time if that's what will get people interested in watching again.
>>505829007
I see where you're coming from but I sorta disagree with that take especially since I've never been in the haloboy clique, but regardless, would you be more interested next year if the roster was remade or at least some players like pavlov were forced on to the team?
This is the current roster.
>>505829007
this isn't even remotely accurate. haloboys dont touch soccer at all
>>505829489

>>505829761
>>505829489
I knew you weren't rigging it for them but it was whatever discord clique was in at the time and cared the most, i can literally think of central names but i don't want to namedrop, anyway those people and their vrchat memes just stacked the whole roster and i remember trying to convince you to just make it equal representation of the entire general anyway, and making the argument that it's going to lead to less people giving a shit and wanting to watch it, which it did
that's a better roster than back in the day
get a vrfps and a bonelabs rep in and that's pretty fair representation for current state of the thread

30yr old vr boomer I agree. Custom Avatar, while only 2018-chads would recognize Nikei, still is good for copying the other team aesthetics.
VRball is funny, I don't really care about the rest.
>>505826139
I used to be a lot more enthusiastic when we watched it live in that big map with the bleachers. Benuldy's is a cool map but it's a hangout map where watching the game feels like secondary to socializing while the big screen bleachers map it felt like the soccer was the main attraction. That said I appreciate everything you do, I'm sorry nu /vrg/ hasn't has as much interest in thread activities like this.

I have asked in the thread before and even posted a HELP WANTED sign in the map. I even DM'd some people who I thought might be interested and they all declined.
If someone is interested I'd be happy to help teach them the ropes and even still continue to help do the team's aesthetics and make funny models, but I don't think anyone is committed enough to want to do it.
>>505835919
I have done a lot recently to try and optimize the map's performance including getting rid of video reflections and introducing occlusion culling zones.
But I also agree with the other anon that the map is a bit too much of a hangout compared to the old one. I could maybe try making another map next year that's more of just a stadium and screen like the old one.

Friend sold me his old vive and like a pile of broken shit "some of it probably works" probably got scammed honestly.
He has his game library shared with so it let me try out a lot of shit.
Only one I have been able to play through all the way with boneworks a close second but it was just too jank with that physical body shit.
All the other stuff I tried was rhythm game or multiplayer slop.
Idk how anyone new gets into pavlov because it is only dedicated cracked people probably cuz of how niche this hobby is.
The bethesda stuff is bethesda still the same games I pour a bunch of hours in already didnt feel worth playing it in vr, and I imagine thats how most flat games to vr go.
He tried showing me vrchat which I checked out once in desktop awhile ago because of some video so I gave it a shot, but that shit is infested with actual children. Although was the occasional soulful gmod style moment, and also one kinda breath taking entranced moment.
Anything anyone could recommend that is close to Alyx or am I doomed to indie archer slop?

Copy the list of maps to a modlist.txt file in the same folder as the exe and run it. You can also use the uncompiled python script but you need to put your mod.io api key there.

>>505691157
Yeah you might be returning a lot of that
I remember, I'm not sure, that the quest 3 has higher bandwidth over wireless than usb. I know that's true for the quest 2. Good 6e routers aren't cheap.
I tried studio monitors on a quest 2 and the dac/amp sucks and it wasn't any better. Are you going to wire your headphones to the PC? If you switch to wireless that becomes an absurdity. I guess there's some wireless solution for headphones out there. Also hard headstraps are mandatory but they will block you out of using most headphones comfortably. It's retarded that the quest 3 doesn't have an official audio package/add-on that's like valve's speakers. The quest 2 had a logitech one that was broken shit.
That neck battery looks like a bad idea. It's better to put the weight in the back of the headstrap with a battery headstrap. Balance is so important, that's why helmets that are way heaver than VR headsets aren't a comfort issue.
>>505861515
>I know that's true for the quest 2
That is a lie.
>>505692206
knuckle straps should be in the box of every VR headset. Grasping and throwing mechanics are almost untenable without them. You can also relax your hands when they are empty. It's not obvious that this is a luxury, but if someone told you to hold their bottled water for 2 hours you'd tell them to fuck off. I'm not holding my controller for 2 hours either.
>struggles to hold controllers for merely 2 hours
>>505704815
I use elastic knuckle straps that stay velcro'd to the size I need them. I just slip my hand in and pull them on. The wrist strap is a lot more work but I put up with it if I'm throwing stuff even though I've never had a controller fly out of my hand.
>>505705124
Never played but I've heard people have issues with accidentally grabbing things. There's a reason alyx didn't do side holsters or pulling mags off the hip. I think the hitbox for grabbing weapons on the belt in blade & sorcery was made really small to help index players. Which becomes a pain in the ass for me because waist location is estimated in VR and grabbing those doesn't work so great.
>>505863540
I used to just pull them off my hands, but after ripping the grip off a controller by doing that, I stopped.
>>505861515
>>505861773
>That is a lie.
Yeah that would make sense, I don't know the exact number but a quest 2 can't get over ~350mbs usable bandwidth. Whoever I read probably thought 1200mbs wireless meant that was the transfer speed.
But another thing to consider is both wired and wireless on the quests is probably capped by how fast they can decode video. You're sending compressed video that has to be decoded either way. If wireless is faster than the ceiling on that you might as well use it.
I stg it was the same exact niggas who were late with their secret santa gifts as last year
sort your life out bro
>>505864438
>wireless on the quests is probably capped by how fast they can decode video.
That's a lie too.
>>505863540
The problem with the Index grips isn't specifically accidentally grabbing, being unable to grab, accidentally dropping, or being unable to drop; they potentially have any combination of those problems depending on the thresholds of the game. The real issue is that they the inputs are not precise. The proximity sensors are inconsistent by the nature of capacitance itself, and the force sensor has maybe 1 millimetre of travel between 0 and 100%. At best, you can override the controls to use a small amount of force to grab, and less than a large amount of proximity to drop but it still doesn't work as well as a grip button. This shitty input exists for finger tracking that barely works at all so it's a terrible compromise.

People complain about latency when using high bandwidth, numbers I've seen are 75-150mbps for the quest 2.
I also have this problem with steam link where if I go over 85mbps the quest 2 will stutter despite having a 1200mbps link. Maybe virtual desktop would fix it, I don't know.
But can a XR2gen2 decode video faster than 350mbps? I guess it depends on how its compressed too. But less compression will mean worse video quality.

Don't force yourself to do what you don't like mate. Thank you for hosting all this time, if you still have it in you, continue, but forcing yourself something you feel like is not fun anymore is a losing battle.
I would like to wonder what it is exactly your concern is. So the participation from the general itself is your issue correct?
Some other anon's are sorta on the ball on this. You want people who see your post here to participate to get them invested.
I'd say have each circle be invested from within us by assigning them a player slot they can rally behind that represents them.
People from the thread needs to have a more hands on investment in the roster outside of just voting perhaps. 6 player slots not for voting but for those who'd like to help out with a soccer player for their group.
But then again maybe my opinion is all wrong so take it with a grain of salt.
Still, thank yo for being a beacon of fun times for NA almost weekly through all these years. I still have fond memories when we all made the very first one together.
We'll continue to live in the Database together still

Like H265 vs H264. Which is what I mean in the context of the conversation. You can compress video more/better to transfer more data in time, but you'll increase the workload for the quest's processor to decode it, and even if the framerate is good you can get latency issues.
Obviously 300mbs looks better than 75mbs of H264 if it's the same encode.
>>505872278
>less compression
>worse video quality
>actually I mean H265 vs H264
>you can compress video more/better
>obviously 300mbs looks better than 75mbs
That's a lot of words for saying "I pull my posts out of my ass"
>less compression means worse video quality
You could have said "shit, sorry I meant 'better' obviously" but here we are
/vrg/ really is getting dumber by the day
>>505829489
I have a wild idea, see if you'd like to listen to it. What if we just took some slots from the roster and have them be chosen by the hosts of the activities that are done in this general? They can ask everyone in their circle on what meme they collectively would want to have represent them?

woops someone else already suggested what I was typing lmao.
I totally agree with what you said there anon
>>505873103
I don't think that's a good idea
>>505826139
I like that it's still going on, and I try to drop by when I can, but I agree with a lot of the other anons that even though I like the map, it doesn't really feel focused on the game. I liked it better when we watched the game in a world with nothing else to do then hopped somewhere else.
Since we watch it later, there's not really much we can even talk about in the thread outside of the interest posts, and I don't ever really watch it live since I want to catch it in VR when I can. Always make sure to vote on the player poll though.
Dedicated reps for relevant games would be good (although we're mostly covered this time), but I think most of the spots being more VRChat related is fine considering where it's being watched. Not having good thread memes to even use anymore is the a bigger problem in my opinion.
Feels like it overlaps with game stuff like Pavlov a lot of times too, although to be fair that's not a problem for most people.
>>505873702
Why not? It'll get people who actual use this general get invested, that's the idea. Another anon even had the same idea
Among many, one

>>505873103
>>505835227
I think the problem with this concept is who is deciding things like NA VR rep or EU VR rep and what does that even begin to look like, and also if the community is already fractured and disinterested how are you going to reunite everyone to care again and submit what they want their meme to be every time?
It doesn't seem realistic.

>Oculus Debug UI latency is proven to be a reliable source of data
Nevermind, I remembered incorrectly. I thought it was 33ms for the direct openxr, which would be more or less close to the measured latency, but it's 33ms for steam vr.
Reported OpenXR latency is pic related.

>if the community is already fractured and disinterested how are you going to reunite everyone to care again and submit what they want their meme to be every time?
Not as fractured as you'd think if you don't look at those who don't really go here anymore. You only see "fracture" when you look at the pieces that left the thread.
What I implore you to do is to look within and only look and have fun with those who choose to stay. Your energy is getting dissipated as you try to pull those who willing chose to leave as you try to get them back.
Have fun with the anons who are still here.
There's hundreds of us among tens of twenty's of activities in the thread
Get us invested
>>505874210
It does show it.
Anyway, not finished with the proper particle spawner yet, too soon to draw conclusions, but it doesn't look like it's any different from noiseless.
Why does he call himself yuki, but larps with the avatar and mannerism of haruhi?
that doesn't really make a lot of sense.
>>505874069
>who is deciding things like NA VR rep or EU VR rep
A hard rule would be the host of each event. And they just ask the other players who play with them collectively to decide together what their idea of a player they'd be represented with. Best idea is if they actually create the avatar themselves as a sub-group to generate the max investment
>>505874578
does it show any latency breakdowns for encode/decode?
would be nice to compare against air link debug view (if it shows those) or alternative streaming breakdowns of latencies
in theory decoding should be the same across all of them for a given bitrate and scene

As someone that runs something in that list, I don't think what I run is relevant to most people here, and I think that holds true for most of the list.
Outside of that, some of those are effectively duplicates, some aren't really /vrg/ at this point, and some aren't even run anymore.

As long as their activity meet is posted here on the thread and hosted here that makes them quite /vrg/ imo. The details we can talk about but the general idea of getting the people who actually use the thread representation to generate investment remains.
>>505874930

>I agree with a lot of the other anons that even though I like the map, it doesn't really feel focused on the game.
Yeah I think if there's still some interest going into next tournament then I will try to make a new map that is more like the old one where it's less hangout-themed and more just focused on the game.
>>505875246

Hail Yuki
Hail /vrg/
I think a lot of the "the general is bad now" posting is coming from people who were the center of attention at some point in the last 7 years but aren't any more and they're mistaking their own personal experience as an objective assessment. It is rare for /vg/ but this general has actually managed to steer towards being more on topic over time.
>>505875586

The specific one that jumps out at me isn't,and already got called out anyways
The dead ones actually don't happen anymore.
>the general idea of getting the people who actually use the thread representation to generate investment remains
If you're talking about non-VRC participation, that's not really a big number. Even VRC events don't pull big numbers outside of the weekend either.
>>505875727
One example of many. Most of the thread posters just vanish in to restricted Discord servers and only return occasionally to make an absolutely horrendous post about how good the thread was better when it was full of namefagging, sockposting, no vr games, and attempts to gatekeep meetups to invite only.
>>505875450
Even just updating the old one and dropping a portal to Benuldy's to hang out afterwards would honestly be fine with me.
>>505876021
>Even VRC events don't pull big numbers
It's not the numbers that is important at first but participation from so many parts of us. Individually the small activities are tiny and we have like 4-6 people on average on SEA breachers for example. But taking the time to give thought and an invitation to participate in a bigger picture.
Those multiple smaller activities, together build up into a roaring bonfire soon enough
You should fist the dragon, I could feel muscles I didn't know I had after the 30 minute brawl.

>>505875586
There's less of the malicious shitposting, but also less of the fun kind too.
There's less enthusiasm about game posts and less participation in lobbies.
I don't see fun webms and streamables being made as often, and when they are, there's less interest in those too.
We're probably technically on topic more often, but I agree with the "people who used to be the center of attention" that it feels too dry and sterile, it doesn't feel like there's any genuine enthusiasm or sense of fun from most people here anymore.
>>505874608
Yuki is mai waifu and Haruhi is my spirit animal
>>505872886
Because that's not the full statement, it was
>But can a XR2gen2 decode video faster than 350mbps? I guess it depends on how its compressed too. But less compression will mean worse video quality.
At a given bitrate, more compression is more quality. Like if I take a picture of my shit in a toilet bowl, then I have to run it to your house on on a 100kb flash drive. It would look better as a jpg than it would as bmp. Because if it was bmp I'd just have to throw data out by resizing it instead of compressing it.
>>505877553
"lookin good" posting phase was the peak /vrg/, until certain elements run it into the ground
you may not like it, but that is the truth
>>505877816
>more compression is more quality
>>505878131
At a given bitrate like 350mbs that was explicitly stated, yes. I guess that's "a lot words" though, I'll have to compress the sentences more

>>505878493
cope is asking for an apology because you read a sentence in vacuum instead of inside a post
>>505879193
Should work with any definition that's not weird. Quality means it resembles the source more
Wait a minute. Hellsings got a vr game? Why am I only hearing about it now?
>>505877826
>going after someone for hosting stuff was peak /vrg/
Would've been wrong just on that basis even if I actually thought it was funny in the first place.
Then again, if I thought it was actually funny, I don't think it would've come off as trying to run off an event host. For what it's worth, I don't think the host actually cared.
