I had a quest 1 back when they came out. It was cool but kinda uncomfortable and ran pretty badly because I was using a 970 and later a 2060. Now I have a 3060. What's a good dedicated pcvr headset? I just wanna play stuff like Blade and Sorcery, Superhot, Alyx, that kind of thing.

my friend with a quest 2 visited me. i got to try it out.

here's a couple things of note i noticed.

1. the image through air link has a tiny bit of delay. not horrible though. using 5g with wifi 6.
its a bit more responsive through usb link.
my question is would the image be more responsive and clear through virtual desktop?
its weirdly.. less vivid than my index. resolution i would say is slightly better but there's a tiny bit of compression i saw. less bad than mr greeny made it out to be. using 120hz at full res.
2. how do i launch steam link? the store page has no install button. i wanted to try it out as well to compare to air link.
3. pavlov is totally fucked through air link and usb air link. weird stutter, warping effects. terrible. i tried contractors too (still through link) and it was totally fine. well, as fine as it can be with all the aforementioned issues.
4. the center of the screen seems to have a weird.. fisheye effect? i noticed that for sure.

OKAY anons. i sobered up a bit, my quest 2 friend went to bed, i'll stay up for a couple hours more. i played some more pavlov on his quest 2, i got steam link working. steam link is miles better than air link, way less latency. in fact, i would say its latency parity with cable.

i EVEN learned to hold my controllers in a way that doesnt lose tracking when aiming down the sights.. FOR the most part. it still does it sometimes.

but now onto my OTHER issue i noticed. i have the quest 2 charging through cable through my wall power outlet. i played for about 30 minutes, and despite it charging, it STILL dropped charge. like 15%. i can see this being a huge problem given that i love vr and i play for way more than 2 hours at a time.

is there a way to fix this? is it less prevalent on quest 3? is it because of a shitty cable? spoonfeed me questanons.

My Enemy these are the results for Anonymizing/De-anonmyzing the wishlists.
It's pretty evenly split from the Santa's with a slight favor to de-anonymize it.

Would be an easy decision if it was 80% for de-anonymizing and we can just ask the remaining 20% to suck it up.
But this is an almost 50-50 split, meaning at the worst case, everyone who voted to Anonymize it won't join next year if wishlist becomes de-anonymized.

Best pathway would be catering to both peaks and adding a toggle on the form for anyone who is gonna be joining if they want to Anonymize their sign-up.
So by default your name is visible in the wishlist (since it won the poll) but there is an option to anonymize if checked marked.

Work overhead is an issue with this so if you can help us figure out how to automate the forms to anonymize somehow we'll appreciate it. I'll try to research on how to automate this
