Time for some exhibition matches in which nothing matters and we can choose which general we want to have a match against.

There's too many players for a balanced game. When the end scores look close it's all too often just because the map was T/CT sided and both teams were taking turns to win, maybe with a throw round or two in there because someone fucked up.
As much as I like the shotgun and sniper buffs because we now have more viable options it does feel like it brought down the average TTK so mistakes or trade damage are punished harder than before. On top of players obviously getting better at the game over time knowing how to exploit the map and punish every strat.
The shitty netcode is the ultimate problem and even without high ping players making it hard to avoid trade damage, more players makes it laggier and easier to die before a good play turns into a great one. The netcode even enforces the same meta as vanilla where lowest TTK or instant kill capable weapons remain the best options because they will minimize the return damage you take, especially with headshots.

godot game jam progress. While tangential to the theme, I did finally manage to cobble together humanoid 3-point IK, finger tracking, joystick movement, planar reflections aka mirror, and a VRM anime grill,. I.e. the stuff you get "for free" in vrchat.

I didn't actually implement the IK myself. It's https://github.com/V-Sekai/godot-renik , a gdscript port of an earlier IK system in c++ by the dev of udon smartobjectsync (open sores vr is a small world). The IK definitely lower quality than vrchat's, but works well enough, including the funny procedural leg placement for running around. The planar reflection is also not mine but https://github.com/V-Sekai/godot_planar_reflection which also requires a patch to godot itself for oblique camera projections plus some fixes I did myself to make the skybox render. The VRM and mtoon shader are also maintained by vsekai, as well as the underlying skeletal modifcations that make the IK and finger tracking (from openxr skeletal) work. So basically I've just been stitching together the vsekai devs' stuff. But now I can make a 1st person anime grill game instead of more boring floating hands. 5 more days left.

I'd be okay with them charging vrbucks for prop uploads, and the upload must be within the same restrictions as the highest current demand prop available. But most people who play will scream and ree about it costing money. I know most of my friend group refuses to give vrc any money, yet all have over 10k hours. My rough concept is that you're initially a robot like that that's hanging from the ceiling (with, uh, a better 3d model). You can't move, but you can wind up the clockwork anime grill, and take control of her until the spring winds down (with movement costing more energy from the spring). So then you can walk over to the little anime grill and also wind her up, switch control/vision to the little one, and have her walk through the little maze, find some key and hand it back to the big anime grill. Who then can walk over to the door and open it. Then you win, game over, thanks for playing. But if you move too much in any stage, you revert back to the gantry robot and you have to... rewind.

So basically a short escape room with body/scale switching gimmick. Nothing mechanically groundbreaking, but should be a decent demo of the feasibility of using godot to switch between different anime grill avatars and looking at them in a mirror. What do you guys use for full body tracking? I'm going to buy me a VR headset, among other things, after I take care of some headaches at work and want the full experience.
I have no friends so this is the only way I can start developing my shitty social life.

2-3 lighthouses and either 3x Vive 3.0 Trackers OR 3x Tundra Trackers. If you are out of the SteamVR ecosystem (i.e. you use a Quest or Pico headset or something) you need 1 extra tracker to mount to the headset, so make it 4x trackers.
There are cheaper solutions that are not as good such as SlimeVR (which you can also DIY make yourself) and HaritoraX. Although I do hear SlimeVR with some of the newer slightly more expensive IMUs is actually quite decent now.

Alternatively wait for "Fluxpose" which is a newer hyped up tracking solution that's supposed to start shipping to backers in October. So don't expect to be able to buy it until probably 2027, and the jury's out on if they'll actually be good or not.

At this point, comfort isn't the reason I wouldn't recommend mine, it was fixed by third parties the same way that every other headset was though obviously not as cleanly because of Samsung's absolute fumble of making the headstrap all one piece instead of modular. Samsung was fucking retarded and could have fixed the comfort issues largely with actually putting padding on the fucking front halo mount instead of the thinnest dogshit piece of foam they could find to make it look sleek or some bullshit, and the addition of a top strap also helps even if I don't normally crank it down hard enough to do anything other then help to stabilize the headset a little when looking from side to side. It's just as wearable as my Q3 with the Kiwi strap at this point, though I'm still contemplating doing the hackjob mod to put an AVP dual knit on it just because it's going to be a good headset for a long time going forward and not having a knob at the back would be nice for laying down or sitting in a chair with a backrest.

The real open question about it is whether Google is going to get it to have as good SLAM tracking as the Quest does, since it does suffer from very imperfect tracking occasionally where my vision will be swimming around in a circle while I'm not moving at all, and if they'll allow it to play as nice with PCVR as it does with native apps, since VD has some weird quirks and issues that it doesn't on the Quest, largely pertaining to the controllers and hand tracking. I haven't tried the Steamlink 2.0 hacky workaround you have to do to get it to run on the GXR to know if it's purely the headset, or if the gay goblin's software is bad as well.

frame isn't coming out by the end of the year at the very earliest. once they source the ram they have to begin production and distribution which takes time. they also cannot just instantly start production. i can't imagine valve is making these things themselves, they put an order in with a factory to make it which means the factory needs to fabricate all of the equipment required to produce steam frames and retool their production line. valve also has to wait in line behind whatever other companies (usually smart phone) that currently have orders in the queue. not only that but once ram does go down in price there's going to be a ton of companies just like valve who are ready to restart production of consumer electronics which means those factories are going to be flooded with orders. it's the same reason that when there's a shortage of nintendo wii's or switches nintendo cannot just instantly start producing more to meet demand.
