Light blocker seems like I could just print out of TPU or something. Top strap might be a bit harder but I think I could sew something together. Fixed the wheel, it could take slight drift of stick when you let go and choose other option, now it will lock the choice the moment stick starts recentering. Also local tracers still somehow followed server lag compensation for origin rather than whole trajectory, derp, bullets now visually go out of barrel and converge on aim point adjusted for lag. I haven't tried a frame yet but I wanted to know if this described the problem.

On a normal controller, buttons and sticks are positioned at various heights above and below the arc of your thumb. This isn't an issue because you can simply move your hand slightly to reach high buttons or slide down and hit low buttons, and your supporting hand stabilizes the controller while you relax your grip and reach for the buttons. Also on a normal controller the arc of the thumb travels between the stick, X and Y buttons, or with a lower grip the stick, A and B buttons. The frame is interesting because the arc travels from the stick, X and B buttons.

Problem number 1, there is no supporting hand on VR controllers, so you have to hold onto the controller with fingers while trying to shift that same hand to reach the buttons. You're shifting the controller high or low with your finger grip rather than relaxing your grip and moving your hand with your wrist.

Problem number 2, knuckle straps make this worse because your hand is locked in place against the controller and it requires more force to change hand/thumb position. Also we can't just get the knuckle strap height right and solve all the problems because you need the mobility to reach above and below the arc comfortably.

Quest didn't have this problem because the simple layout puts the analog stick and the B and Y buttons in the arc of the thumb. A and X you can retract your thumb back, or just comfortably hit them by rocking the back pad of your thumb. People really should be rocking back their thumb. It's like the palming Ctrl of gamepads.

Looking at the frame, with a properly positioned knuckle strap you can use the analog stick and X and B comfortably. People who use the back of their thumb pad could hit A easily, but not everyone does that. Y and the menu button are just going to be a bitch. I wonder if the mockup on the right would've been better.

If you just want like tech-demo level shit then Valve's The Lab is genuinely a neat introduction to the tech, along with Hand Lab for checking out the finger tracking. Aside from those it really depends on what you're interested in. Alyx is top-tier for shootan, Beat Saber for rhythm, and a lot of the smaller experiences like Job Simulator, I Expect you to Die, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes (if you have a friend) and Accounting are pretty fun and simple.

Ok until I try the frame myself I can't say for sure but I found out some interesting things.

The official ergo kit video says that small hands use the top strap hole and larger hands use the bottom strap hole, then it shows an adult male fuck it up. This seems easy to do because intuitively you're a full size dude and the top hole looks like it would give more space for hand in the strap loop so you use it like a fucktard.

I've seen two types of controller complaints.

The first is that the analog stick and A button is too low and your hands cramp up trying to bend down to thumb them. I remember gamertag complaining about this with bradley, and a wolf in VR. I looked at their controllers, they both put in the small hands hole which is putting their thumbs too deep/high on the controller. They look like normal height dudes, gamertag says he's 6 foot. Ok mystery solved.

More interesting is martydude is the only reviewer I found that gushed over the frame controllers, and he is a big guy. In his unboxing he just happens to put his left controller strap in the big hands hole like he's supposed to. Mystery solved.

The second complaint is people with small hands can't press Y and the start/select buttons up top. As far as I can tell they are still fucked despite using the small hands hole and getting their hand as high as they can. However I wonder if that could be fixed with a new strap eye that's mounted higher and provides sort of a shelf for the bottom of small hands.

I think maybe at one point the idea was to make packing in a steam controller an option, but then they got ass fucked by RAMpocalypse and decided that would be way too expensive and that they probably couldn't make enough of either anyway. Then they decide to try to make the frame controller a poor man's steam controller so they could still market it as a thing to play flat games on.

That all said I could see how having the extra buttons could be useful in some situations, like virtual HOTAS in simulators. We'll see
