Friendship ended with noenoe. Now UTS is my best friend
>>238203325
that's a weird way for them to translate "world-space" and "screen space". ;)
I'm guessing here, but worldspace might be better performing. I'm not sure how they calculate it and how it'll react to unity 2017 and vrchat's various render modes. You could add a profiler tab and check which maintains a higher framerate when you animate yourself!
>>238203664
>mfw I recently met noe for the first time out of pure luck, yet I was their biggest shill for the longest time, due to their shader being objectively the best performing. That was neat.

it's not so much yellow fever at all, it's average proportions. I actually only date blondes and redheads.

Noe has better taste in anime than 90% of /vrg/ so that makes him cool with me.
>>238204354
You might too again soon. It is objectively the best performing one (or at least was, anyway). It's also a useful way to do ghetto UV swap animations that you cannot normally do in unity but you can do in MMD/MMM that allows for some nice effects. Using the texture movement feature or the tile feature allowed you to access other parts of a texture map, and you could effectively swap uvs using animation blends. Lots of cool stuff. I combined it with a render texture to pull off a few neat tricks too, like am actually working magnifying glass that warps things, or funhouse mirrors.

That being possible doesn't mean everyone will do it instead of just giving up or messing it up. What evidence to they have to suggest 70k makes a difference vs 150k in practice? Have they done benchmarks?

this is sorta true, useful for certain things though, noe's toon shader is good too if you just want to have a false-lit character only affected by dark and shadow, 2d characters and cutouts with transparent pngs, have a screen space effect on props, badges, etc world skybox changing animations, etc. It also supports single sided faces and negative normal outline tricks used in some mmd textures though too, better than some others. And since it performs so good to do those things it's incredibly useful.
>>238205770
MFW vrchat now has fatshaming. This is gonna be fun, lol.

Can't say i have enough knowledge to know, as far as I'm aware polys aren't the issue when your fps dips but then again hard to say what will happen if there was 20 models all 150k or over. There's probably a way to test such a thing by making a world.

polycount does not have a super measurable effect on the performance until you reach huge numbers ,especially now that we can have meshes with 32 bit. It's drawcalls that are the issue. Having multiple individual meshes is the main issue. However, that's one of the only things they can/could measure or limit previously.
it mattered way more before since meshes could only be 65k before splitting and causes more draw calls.

Can you explain this to me? I know it's a sex toy and all but why is it so associated with VR? Does it integrate with any games like the chu-b-lip? Why lovense, given that it's been sued over selling your usage data? What are the alternatives?

>>238217446
A bunch of sexually confused virgin chucklefucks get into vrchat and have their fragile sexuality tested to the point where they turn gay, order women’s clothes and take pictures with their manfaces hidden to try and convince others they’re girls while also shoving controllable shit up their manasses so that they can try and feel good like girls do except girls have vaginas and feel 10x more pleasure from flicking their clit than a dude ever will from pushing on his prostate
tl;dr they’re a meme because “wow my vrfu can control my buttplug” but honestly buy yourself a dildo or an aneros and knock yourself out buddy
>>238217446
you're just controlling someone's vibrator

>>238217446
it's mostly just a meme much like "take to nepbar", but I assume because of the teledildonics you could technically be in vr and get your vrfu off somehow with it interactively.
There's actually lots of really cool stuff coming out in japan, adult vr is actually pretty dope.
Let's play with nanai uses your phone to position a sex doll or pillow or real person in vr for example. There's also tsuntsun vr which is a techdemo for the people behind koikatsu's vest that allows you to feel people touching you in the virtual world.
we're only about 5 years out from something equal to ready player one, and actually. all the things used in that movie are based on real products available today, but they're pretty expensive.

So now that animeheaven is due to be shut down on the 25th, is there any other streaming site that has youtube.dlls for VRChat?
>>238217703
It's using the VideoPlayer component in unity itself, combined with an embedded copy of youtube-dl to actually handle streaming the video files over plain HTTP or HLS. As long as you have sufficient throughput to the actual video file (usually youtube, maybe arbitrary HTTP url for the people who stream anime) it should work no differently than e.g. a web browser.
Gas the trannies and VRCA niggers
>>238206341
You mean the rumor that was started by VRCA niggers that Shaena is a tranny?
Pretty pathetic to always see these guys come and attack everyone who criticizes them.
>>238217703
It depends on how you're accessing the stream, vrc's streaming player now just uses unity's video player, which renders a video on a texture render, and vrc team made a special mesh render object for it.
You should use jetdog's theater prefab though, it's ezpz

>>238219026

Because it's a bad thing to us, and if you want to discredit someone you start a rumor in their primary social circle so it has an actual effect rather than simply divorcing them from the tertiary circles you may know them from?

I learned to stop letting other people occupy space in my head rent free. You might think you're having fun but it's making you cynical and bitter on the outside too. Have fun with people and ignore the negativity that is living inside your head, it just makes you insufferable to everyone around you. I've been a target of vrg before too and it was F U C K I N G hilarious to the point that it became a meme in my rl inner circle, because the people who wasted their time on me are far more pathetic for wasting their time on it than anything they could claim I did.

Since I spent all of last night watching a movie I didn't do much else. This is my last screenshot.
After the movie I worked a bit on my shading. The shader talk earlier was pretty interesting. I added some rimlights and different shading to make things pop out a little more.
I'm using unitychan2 shader, by the way. It seems to strike the best balance between brightness and extra detail.
>>238222334
Since I got VR the only first person games I've played for any length of time have been Return of the Obra Dinn and Road to Gehenna (which now has VR port), I guess I would have spent roughly 20 hours on both.
In the previous year I played System Shock, System Shock 2, Deus Ex, Thief, Thief II, TF2,Subnautica and Prey. I would estimate I must have spent at least 150 hours in total
For games with more abstracted viewpoints I think my playtime has only dropped marginally

I got bored of single player games in about 2006. Normie friends still want to play multiplayer flatgames, which I just find frustrating. All of them seem to be designed around preventing any individual player having any influence now. CSGO is fucking unbearable compared to Pavlov because you cannot aim the gun and just have to rely on random number generation to make the bullets hit, it's so fucking ridiculous to go back to something like this. They want to buy Insurgency Sandstorm, but what is the point? It's the same game as Insurgency. It's essentially the same 'realistic' FPS they've been making for about 15 years now. Wow, I'm watching an animation of someone reloading a gun instead of doing it myself, amazing gameplay. Even better when it's completely incorrect to look extra impressive for the kids. I think I was largely over video games before I got VR but didn't want to admit it.
>>238223883
Look how well that's working. Do you really think there is someone out there so desperate to fellate some random nobody's dick this hard? You're just showing everyone here that you're this desperate to make yourself known by shilling yourself.
If you haven't already played through the Talos principle I highly recommend the VR version. It's on sale tonight for $6. Great game and the gameplay is flawless in VR. Just remember to change your locomotion in settings before jumping in.

Any settings in particular that you'd recommend for an anime look? Also, is there any way to change how much the matcap affects(?) the model?
Do you just set the same base texture on Shade Color or do you create a new texture of the base one a bit darker? Should I bother with "Shadow Receive Multiplier" and "Lit & Shade Mixing Multiply"? I'm guessing you have to do the textures for this manually right? Or is there any way to automatically generate them somehow?

I still enjoy non-VR games, but I've been spending most of my time on multiplayer VR stuff since it's been nice having people to play games with again.

I'm using this branch: https://github.com/ACIIL/UnityChanToonShaderVer2_Project/tree/dev
It has a lot more options, including the transparency. It does transparency fairly well, at least as well as noe's - which was previously the best shader I'd found for it.
>>238223598
I will check mtoon out, the default version of Illustrious needs to be bright, needs detailing on the boobs, and needs to handle transparency well so I'm always looking for shaders that do those things better.
>>238224552
>>238224371
is there more to it than picking up the cancorders to halt the floating mines/turrets/gates? the puzzles seem really pretty simple so far but i've only gotten to the part where you can warp to other places using the matrix portals
>>238225647
Many thanks
>>238225769
mtoon allows you to select which side of normals is used on each material slot, which can allow for proper mmd invert normals extrude outline tricks to work.
>Illustrious needs to be bright
you can set the gi to multiply to your own whims. Increase GI intensity in mtoon to take whatever you've chosen to be lit by the scene's realtime to blow out even above the lighting used in the world, but use sparingly because it's crazygonuts at max, lol.

Hey, Forest host here, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to schedule doing a runthrough of the "end of the game" or going to it and beating it. Beating the game unlocks new stuff for survival and ramps up the difficulty with the new enemies. I am free all Friday, so what timezone would be the best to sit down and do the do in?

arrow your back is disgusting get that skin condition checked out you freaky uggo
I have a question. It may be a stupid question, but I once told it's not stupid to not know, but it is stupid to willingly choose to continue not knowing.
I have a visual impairment. My brain has induced switchable monocular vision. That basically means my brain chooses an eye to use for "focus", and leaves the other eye on peripheral duties. I can switch the dominant eye at will. This was an adaptation my brain made due to a brain injury in my youth that left me with permanent double-vision.
What I would like to know is, with my condition, can I use VR? I know I cannot enjoy a 3D movie, even the modern one's that don't require the red/green glasses.
>>238230224
shitposting on shitposts shitposting.feed the machine.
>>238230310
yes you still can you will enjoy vr the same way you enjoy the real world along with your permanent double vision
the majority of the vr experience isn't the two screens firing at you two eye it's the accurate tracking in world space that physically puts you in the game
>>238230310
vr will literally cure you of that. I'm not fucking kidding. I've met people who literally praise 3d shit because of it.
so will circular polarized lenses in 3d movies.
>>238230310
You'd treat VR the same way as reality then. Monocular vision would noticeably reduce the perceived screen resolution without depth and focus, but are you capable of perceiving depth in reality?
>>238224234
I can play pancake games from time to time. Pavlov frustrates me in the way of lack of jumping in CS MAPS designed for jumping. Besides that VR shooters are more fun to play from time to time. But then again hopping on a pancake game with /vrg/ is a nice change of pace. El dewrito or siij with the boys is always fun

Try a demo somewhere first at an arcade or something. Even with bad binocular vision, the 6DOF tracking of the headset adds a lot to the illusion over old 3d movie stereoscopic displays (red/blue or polarization shutters). I could never quite do 3d movies, but VR has been great.
>>238230310

That's certainly an interesting concept. I'll need to look into that.
>>238230523
Not in a conventional way. The standard depth perception comes from both eyes looking at slightly different angles, but mine is dependent on memory-based assumption on height and comparisons. Fast moving objects tend to escape me because of the way my brain calculates it's position in 3D space.

Honestly though, $80 for 2 plastic shits just to attach a vive tracker to is criminal. Go buy an actual table tennis racket and rubberband the tracker to it. You could wire-tie a tracker to a badminton racket for the other thing too. If you wanted something more permanent, you could buy a quarter inch tripod mounting screw and glue it to the wood of the ping pong racket, but overkill imo.

To The Best Friend I Don't Talk To Anymore,
To me, you will always hold a special place in my heart, even if we aren't close anymore. We've been through so much together and I wouldn't have gotten through it without you. Through the endless relationship drama, issues with my parents, and complaints about life in general, you talked me through it all. You stuck up for me, you defended me, you picked me up when I was down. We were always there for each other and then one day, it all just stopped.
I think about you often. I think about how well you must be doing, how smart you were to leave high school behind you, how much I miss you. I think about wanting to spend time with you and wanting to just physically see you standing in front of me. I want to hug you and tell you everything that's happened over the last two years. I want to tell you how sorry I am for not being the friend you needed.
Most importantly, I want to thank you for making high school suck less, for showing me what a true friend is and for always making me laugh. I am so glad that we were able to spend as much time as we did together. I will forever cherish the memories we made and the tears we shed from laughing so hard. I still miss you, I will always love you and I will continually hope to hear from you again. You were the best friend I've ever had and it devastates me every day to know and remember that we no longer speak. My heart breaks, but I'll always remember what you meant to me. You deserve nothing but the best and all the happiness in the world.
Forever missing you,
The Friend You Left Behind

I only really noticed how sickening the 3D was when I was in a Currys once (an electronics shop) and there was a 3D capable TV running one of the Harry Potter films, and it genuinely just made me feel sick to look at. Quite upsetting, because it meant I can't take my girlfriend to the iMax to see 3D films.
However, if you're saying VR could fix that, it might just be worth the 2-300 odd.

Make an actual VRChat account, don't use a Steam account. You can convert Steam accounts into VRChat accounts, too, but it's easier to just make a VRChat account on their official website.
Go to an avatar world and pick a pedestal avatar, but try to get to the next trust level as fast as possible, so you can upload a custom avatar. How trust calculation works isn't known, but it'll happen automatically, as long as you play and don't get infrictions. (Playtime itself isn't a factor, though.)
AddYuru (NA), Shammy (EU) and Temporal (SEA), so you can join the meetups. When you join, remember to add a few people so you can join more easily.
When you join the meetups, don't be afraid to say that you're new, i.e. that you just got VR and VRchat. People can empathize with that, because everyone was new, at some point. There are also people who really like showing new people cool things VRChat can offer.

Lazy way: same texture with albedo colour darkened. Literally what most shaders do by default.
Brainlet way: Texture that has brightness dragged down slightly. Takes twice the VRAM for same result as above.
The good looking way: Edited texture that has each colour's hue and saturation tinted separately to achieve a look simultaneously more natural yet more like a good drawing.

Contractors released recently. It's another FPS that will give Pavlov a run for its money.
Pros:
- Onward TTK
- Pavlov fast pace
- Offense and defense feels balanced, as in you have a fair chance of taking down a player holding a corner if you're fast enough, and you have a fair chance warding off a player pushing on you
- R E S PA W N I N G
- Beuatiful visuals
- Menu aesthetic reminds me of Girls' Frontline
- Full body IK that actually looks good and not scuffed
- Customizable loadouts that let you choose your armor type, grenades to spawn in with, sidearm, primary, and attachments that all affect your speed and armor
- Iron sights for the AWM
- Maps combine the condensed action of Pavlov with the creative angles of Onward maps. Lots of scenery to hide and move around. There are no designated sniping lanes like in Dust2.
- Training minigames in the main lobby that connect to a global leaderboard
Cons:
- No workshop (yet)
- Sound is weak
- Control point gamemode is the only gamemode available atm
- AR derivatives don't have bolt release, and pistols can't send the slide forward by pressing the slide lock
- Few players. At 3AM there were 3 games going. I'm concerned that despite the improvements it has over Pavlove that this is going to go the way of BAM and die because it isn't Pavlove.

General location as well. Read before that just need to place on opposite corners up high. Oof.
>>238271017
>when you're so little girl proteused you don't know how to use a drill
>>238271017
buy tripods and mount them on them they just screw into anything tripod
>>238271017
Setup is pretty straightforward, and will be assuming you have drywall like I and most others do
Pick two opposite locations above head height with good view of the room
Figure out ahead of time how the wall mount should be rotated so your lighthouses will be facing the way you want
Use a pencil to completely fill in the 3 circles so you know where to drill
That specific mount is what I'm using, those plastic (mine were green) pieces are wall anchors, very important
Drill holes a bit smaller than the wall anchors width, you want them to fit in tight
Use a hammer to get the wall anchors into the holes, be precise with it, and the hole will be widened by the anchor, this is ok, it means that the hole will hold the anchors perfectly snug because there is no extra wiggle room
Once all the anchors are in you can position the mount and begin drilling it in with the screws, which are drilled into the plastic anchors
Once this is all done you're good to setup your lighthouses and get your tracking all set up
I assume you're getting leg tracking because you don't have mounts by default, have fun kicking people in the face, see you in game!
>>238271421
I already have these neat little camera mounts.
>>238271462
>Use a pencil to completely fill in the 3 circles so you know where to drill
>That specific mount is what I'm using, those plastic (mine were green) pieces are wall anchors, very important
>Drill holes a bit smaller than the wall anchors width, you want them to fit in tight
Naisu this specific detail here. Perfect. I was about to use a drill bit the same size of the screw. Thanks.
Ok so the drywall can hold it up even if I don't drill into a stud? Interesting...
>>238271748
Wall anchors are made so you can mount things on drywall without it crumbling over time, the anchors have a plastic tip that should fit into the hole you drill and act as a guide while you hammer it in and literally carve out drywall so it fits snug. Or at the very least that is what I did, seems pretty snug for like half a year, and most likely many more.
>>238271959
I have access to concrete walls and beams if I go up higher... Yes or no?
>>238272237
If you're gonna drill into wooden beams you shouldn't need a drywall anchor. If your lighthouses will have a good view of each other and your play space I'd say go for it. In addition you won't even need to drill any holes ahead of time, directly screwing the mounts in should work fine. But of course I'm an anonymous voice on the internet and you should choose your actions at your own discretion. I am no master when it comes to drilling shit.

When will VR tech actually be good?
How long until full body tracking is standard, frames are consistent, and we get good tactile feedback for when I'm patting someone's head. Oh yeah and more comfortable headsets with no cords while we're at it.
Kill me.
>>238273589
Literally the only thing you just described that isn't somehow widespread is tactile feedback and even that exists just not in a commercially available/mass produced form.
FBT is easily attainable but fucking expensive and impractical for a lot of games as it would just hinder gameplay.
Lots of VR games run at a good framerate, VRchat is just a technical nightmare and hardly runs well on desktop.
Headsets are pretty comfy already and the Quest is the first step toward wireless HMDs.

What's the better choice? Oculus or VIVE? As I understand it Oculus has more games, but the VIVE is a better piece of tech.
you are all nice people and i hope i can make your day better by letting you know that years from now i am likely going to look back and cherish the countless of hours i have spent with you all in vr in its early stages stay nice vrg never change and thank you for making me feel as if i had friends
>>238280985
honestly they both have some great advantages but all i say to people is keep in mind the vive controllers WILL break cause they are shoddily made
>>238280985
That's about right. You can play all Rift games on a Vive though (with Revive), and all Vive games on a Rift (like Fallout 4 VR and Skyrim).
>>238281079
That's anecdotal at best. I've seen way more people with Rift headset issues (cable fraying, headphones dying) than I have met people with Vive controller issues.
>>238280985
Probably one of the big choices between the two is how badly you want to move your feet and hips in the very few games that support that feature.
If you do, go with Vive as it'll be cheaper in the long run.
If you don't, go with Oculus as the overall setup is (currently) more comfortable to use.And perhaps both of them will get beaten out by the Valve headset + Knuckles whenever the hell they actually come out.
>>238281203
every vive user has issues
it just varies on whether or not they fixed them
I've repaired them around 10 times now and the only issues with them is a lost screw that forces me to tape it down to secure the touchpad contacts, which works better than it sounds, and the vibration motors dying a bit on one hand because I beat it violently against the wall over time
>>238280985
get the deluxe strap if you decide to go with vive
>>238281203
The more you know i guess, i use oculus personally but haven'ted had a single issue with it but i can see how maybe i'm just lucky.
>>238281386
>every vive user has issues
I don't, my 10 friends don't. Don't go lying now.
These things are built like hammers, I've slammed mine into my walls so much that the edges are lined with my wall paint. Can't imagine touch controllers surviving such a beating.
>>238281101
>>238281079
Revive, huh? That does shift my interest towards the Vive because I'd like to avoid giving Mark Zucchini money if I can. Does it actually work well, or is it ghetto as fuck with a thousand issues of its own like Trinus PSVR?
>>238281330
What makes the oculus more comfortable? The touch controllers do look better than the vive ones, anything other than that?
>>238281484
Is it really worth? I guess dealing with a headset constantly falling off and accidently catching the cable of your in-ears and ripping them out is pretty annoying, but $130 seems pretty steep.
>>238281753
>Revive, huh?
It's been in development ever since the Vive's been out, it's pretty effortless once you have it installed. There's arguably a slight performance hit, because the frustum culling of the Vive viewport is different than the Rift's, and so not as efficient in the Oculus software, but whatever it all runs good.
>>238281753
General fit for one on the head.
With the Vive deluxe strap it's pretty much the same (at least from what I've heard. I use Oculus personally), but no need for the extra cost on Rift's end.
As for the controllers, Touch is the current cream of the crop. Comfortable to hold, buttons make sense, and damn near indestructible to boot.
Both are fine choices, I generally see the differences at 6 of one, half dozen of another.
>>238281753
>Is it really worth?
Depends on your head shape, I guess. There might be christmas bundles that have it included, try looking for those.
>>238281386
I have a Vive pro and I am thankful that they seem to be built rather sturdy, I've hit my walls pretty hard and batted my ceiling light with luckily no broken glass.
>>238281753
I have a Vive pro and I think the design is quite similar to the deluxe strap, I can say that it is very comfortable and I havent had any issues with catching the cable on anything, headset hasnt slipped or even moved a little when I've been using it, all in all it would be a pretty good investment if you have a regular Vive.
>>238281919
I have a monster PC so I'm not too worried about performance, if that's the main issue with it, it should be fine. I'll check it out further, thanks man.
>>238281974
The touch controllers are for sure the most attractive prospect of the rift.
>>238282220
>>238282464
I'll consider it if they're bundled, otherwise I could just buy it later. It's expensive enough to qualify for free shipping anyway.

we've had this conversation before: there's a maximum limit to bust size that drops off with fitness. At a certain point anything above x becomes just body fat, meaning the person with them is very out of shape.
Some people are GROSSLY unattracted to people with a lack of fitness, (eg. someone who can't love themselves can't love me) and those people tend to like smaller breasts.
Good thing in vr you can break all the rules of reality.
>>238289858
Fat? what do you mean? *adds physics to hips as wide as two ugandan knuckles*
>>238289858
Fat people are unattractive because they defy human proportions. Thicc girls are attractive because they are still the correct shape. You cannot conflate large breasts with obesity.
>>238290481
"thicc" girls defy human proportions.

What do you think /vg/ is?
>>238290542
indeed. Ever wonder why anime characters and mmd models and other 3d characters out of japan look like they're one missed meal away from total neurological shutdown, and why most people in vr refuse to use anything outside of that?

>>238290914
actually I think it's evolutionary, studies suggest that mate preference is at least partially genetically determined and actually evolves more rapidly over a shorter number of generations than other processes. Since it's the most important factor directly related to our survival as a species it would make sense that selective pressure would rapidly change our mate preferences in a couple generations. In our ancient past we used to consider very fat women an ideal, and venus statues were made that reflected this, but with exaggerated features probably. Those statues were made at the tail end of a mini ice age when food was incredibly scarce. Later, smaller proportions began to be considered attractive, and now, I believe there are generations that are disgusted with anything that could even slightly fall into metabolic syndrome. It's not good for our genetic fitness to have fat mates that die young, and generally speaking thin, fit, attractive people with some muscle mass and healthy diets have more children among first world populations.
Our 3d models and the things you see in VR reflect this, since they're extremes or illustrations of a current ideal. It's not entirely cultural.
>>238291484
Not that guy but I'm also new and generally what keeps me from really interacting with people is both a combination of autism and that half the people are kids. When a kid starts talking it's just extremely uncomfortable.

>>238291635
Well it's essentially vertigo, so it's similar. You feel sick because your eyes are telling your brain that something is happening, while all the other senses disagree, so your brain figures that something is horribly wrong and tells you to lie the fuck down by making you feel really sick. Same reason why many kids have issues with car sickness while young.
Something that was really effective for me was to have a regular fan blow in my direction, I guess the breeze made it more "believable" for my brain that I was in fact moving.
Eating ginger also helps quite a bit when experiencing vertigo.
So i picked these up for the wmr controllers. They solve the issue of voltage drop making tracking worse as they maintain 1.5v until they die. Cool idea, lithium ion.
I love playing dress up and being girly! Also I just got my pair of vrsocks!

You won't just automatically make friends. Expecting attention for merely existing is not reasonable. Other people have known each other for a year or more at this point, so you are not going to have anywhere near the relationship they have. Always expect to make more effort towards others than they ever seem to reciprocate. Don't try to interpret why you're not receiving the attention you perceive yourself as deserving. Many are socially retarded but don't appear to be socially anxious which leads to some absolutely incomprehensible interactions that you shouldn't try to interpret. Never make the mistake of complaining about lack of attention. Don't even vague post about it in the thread because it reinforces it for yourself. You're probably not actually doing as badly as you perceive. I perceive /vrg/ as much harder than real life and a lot of my time here has been absolutely awful (though I understand now what I did wrong). Others think the opposite and claim to have been immediately welcomed and had no problems at all, so there's no way of knowing what you'll actually experience.

>hate each other
Nice meme, nah the majority have learned to co-exist, considering the shit /vrg/ has in it, it shouldn't work but it does. The kind of hate you see is thread shitposting and individuals being shit on, or some hiding in plain sight as a "why does everyone say I am a mean what did I do" when the reputation is well earned. Anons who hate other circles of people touching /vrg/ voice their bitching through the thread instead of trying to talk it out on the actual community side of things.
Majority are chill, thread is shitposting grounds, don't believe majority of what the thread says. Do ask around if you don't know the reputation of a bad anon hiding in plain sight via thread shitposting, with names attached anons give more truthful explanations. Don't be the anon to ask "redpill me on so-and-so" and expect a real answer. Some bitch using the thread, but samefag too hard. Just read the thread if you have the ability to use filters or just do what I do and read it all, ugly side included.

depends what engine and versions of ovrsdk they're using, irrespective of the fact it's pirated.
PS: game makers know you're playing the game pirated if you're connected to the internet at all. Most of them don't mind and hope you convert into a paying customer eventually.

they have some pretty sneaky ways of bypassing that kind of thing using standard web calls in other processes you don't have blocked, like the microsoft advertiser metric dll as a piggyback. It's incredibly difficult to catch them all but on the plus side: they don't really mind. It's not really a significant cost to their bottom line anymore, they just like to get playstats. Oculus is better than the normal vive if you're not looking for FBT. Touch controllers are superior to the vive teledildonics system and are most likely going to be better than Valve's Knuckles™ too.
Oculus relies on your computer to do all the position calculations, so while the controllers last for months on 2 AAs you're going to need at least 3 USB 3.0 ports for high quality tracking.
https://store.steampowered.com/promotion/cottage_2018/ I'm suprised that day 1 was budget cuts. I wonder what they're planning.

>you're going to need at least 3 USB 3.0 ports for high quality tracking.
hot damn okay thats good to know
>>238302371
The rift isn't cheaper because it's shitty, the vive is just overpriced. It's a fine headset and has the current best hand controllers on the market. Currently there aren't really any platform-exclusive VR titlesand some might argue there aren't any "good" ones too. You can play all the steamVR/vive games on the rift, and vive can actually play oculus games with revive, so you won't be missing out on software, whether you go rift, vive, or even WMR.
That being said, you will still be zuccing urself pretty hard. Whether that's worth $100 off and not chinking urself with the HTC vive, well, that's up to you.
>>238303270
A USB 3 pci-e exapansion card is very nearly on the "required accessories" list for rift owners. The $20 innateck card on amazon works fine though, just read the reviews to make sure you're getting the right one.
Also get rechargeable AAs for the controllers.
>>238303267
a kemono where it belongs, behind bars
>>238303327
there's also different quality concerns with the two.
the oculus has a ribbon cable between the headphones which is prone to breaking.
and both the cables for the vive and oculus seem to fail pretty often.
in general, the oculus feels fragile as fuck when you hold the headset, cant speak for the vive, though ive heard it IS fragile.
The touch controllers are still the best most intuitive controllers on the market so far, since all other vr headsets so far copy the vive's touchpad gimmick.
>>238303327
right now if you NEEDED a headset I would go with samsung odyssey plus. behind the head tracking is basically solved and it has the best screen and most comfortable to wear, with the best head tracking and the least system requirements. It's only 299 and will be good to have even if you decide to get something later.
If you can wait, wait. Valve might be ready to release the DV/MV of their new headset around or before q2 2019, or so I hear.

Thrill of the fight has realistic fatigue and will KICK YOUR ASS into shape. I've even played it with sparring gloves and it lets you hold the controllers properly with thumbs under the triggers for good grip.
If you want more of a fun boxing experience like punch out get Knock out League which is FUCKING AMAZING. Then there's creed where you can beat on PSVR cucks all day. It's selling insanely well over there and Sylvester Stallone legit did some voice acting in it.

Oh, I promised last night some info for world builders. I talked to a bunch of you last night.
Now that we're on 2017 there's tons you can do.
1) get polybrush. https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/modeling/polybrush-beta-111427
2) get probuilder. https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/modeling/probuilder-111418 (want your own room? make cube, flip normals, extrude faces. Done. Add furniture and lights, lol.
3) get progrids. https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3d/progrids-111425
4) get pps:
https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/essentials/post-processing-stack-83912
5) get some materials!
https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/2d/textures-materials/pbr-materials-wood-metal-50290
but any of those material packs will do. Try to keep the textures a bit smaller.
I can get you a copy of Bakery if you hit me up on discord to save time with your lights. Make all your meshes except the things you want people to be able to move static and use baked lights either way.
finally:
https://vrcat.club/threads/xiexes-lighting-tutorial-how-to-get-good-at-baked-lighting-101.2081/ follow this tutorial.
making levels can be done entirely in unity and is actually easier than avatars all things considered. Making a truly GOOD, well performing world is a bit harder, but you can be super creative either way.

depends on the shader's material settings but generally yeah yeah, no need to use a texture in those slots if you're just trying to shade it with a colour, the base one gets multiplied/added anyway which could have odd effects. deadly serious. Snacks is now a DJ and does the west coast anime convention scene, too.
>>238307708
no awpologies! ;)

Didn't bother to turn it off in-game because I wanted to kill faster but it did get me killed that one time.

Is there any reason to get Compound when I already have and enjoy Pavlov? What's the difference?
shammy, what are you wearing
>>238307395
Never needed one. Optical sync does a good enough job as is even though I stand basically right between the two. Also full body so I mostly lie on the ground
>>238308137
compound is a roguelike single player game in pixel art style with generative levels and it's hard as hell.
Think doom 1 wads mods with machine learning and random level spawns. It's nothing like pavlov.
>>238308241
I meant Contractors, I'm just fucking stupid and was just looking at Compound on Steam.
>>238308137
>>238308335
Pros:
- TTK closer to Onward
- $19.99. This is one of the reasons BAM died to Pavlove.
Just own both. If you can afford a VR headset you can afford a 19.99 game to have for when you want to try a different flavor of FPS.
>>238308618
>respawning
so does pavlov?
>>238308229
The sync cable does significantly reduce drift I've found and it allows you to have them covering a wider area than 15ft or 3m apart, but I've never used it seriously or for long term except to test it either.
>>238308335
I think it really depends on if people are playing it. Check the trending section on the big tv in steamvr home and check player counts. If it has a steady number of people or if nathie or pewdiepie shills it it'll be busy but when it comes to multiplayer games I watch the trends before I dive in, so there's actually people to play with.
unless it's under or around 10 bucks then fuck it. If I get an hour and a half of fun it's worth the money, since that's what going to the movies would have cost me.

I'm happy, confused, sad and scared at the same time, when they left this place my brain just never thought about their future, pretty much assuming they stopped existing when they cut ties with this place. The image of moot going down that slide in the middle of the office and then yucking it up with the top dogs of the corporate world is not anything close to what I imagined him to ever be doing, he was just a powerful weeaboo sperg in my mind.
>>238308137
It's more like Onward but with respawns and armour that actually does something so you don't have to sit in the tent for 5 minutes if you get hit once. More variety in the weapons too.
https://a.uchi.moe/spbzlu.webm
>>238308681
only in deathmatch. The main game mode of pavlov is basically cs:go.
>>238308751
okay wow, I take it back, that looks crazy good.
>>238308681
You respawn in Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, and Gun Game, which are not considered the main game modes.
The premier gamemode of Pavlov is Search and Destroy, which is one life. All of Onward's gamemodes, including the main one Uplink, is one life as well.
Contractors' premier game mode uses respawning in its control point game mode, but eschews Pavlov/CounterStrike's designated sniping lanes in favor of Onward's map design with multiple angles of attack and defense. Players don't need to be scared of sitting out for 5 minutes because they need to push, making gameplay faster.

I wonder if w.t.snacks and m00t play vr.
>>238309131
so it's more like battlefield and call of duty with tickets? Okay, that's actually bretty dope. I hope more people play it, if it starts to gain momentum I'll pick it up.

Just bought it and it's great, sign me up f a m

Under the assumption moot has good pay, I'd say its a given he does.
The elderfag era of snacks was too long before my arrival here but I'd like to think the based man is running around VRchat.
>>238308701
I feel like he sold out, but I can't really blame him after everything that happened. He put up with way more than I would have been able to.
>>238309972
>moot
>based
moot is a onions infused sjw normie who works for big brother and he left us because we weren't cool enough for the chick he was getting cucked by
there's nothing based about him
he's not in VR and on the off chance that he is, he's certainly no longer one of us
>>238310286
Second line was about snacks.
And regarding moot with VR, judging by where he works and the type of technological elitist culture they have I'm just assuming if he doesn't own VR himself hes playing around with a friends or maybe even at some form of playroom at the office with VR if google has that shit.
>>238308618
>- AR derivatives don't have bolt release, and pistols can't send the slide forward by pressing the slide lock
Works on my machine.
>>238308681
Pavlov deathmatch is fucking horrible. Dont compare it.
Actually, fucking everything about Pavlov is horrible. It's such a hackey, nigger-rigged shitshow in almost every way and the only reason to play it is that your only other option is BOREward. Now that isnt true anymore.
And I would really rather Contractors never get workshop maps. I hate that shit. Have a few actually well made, actually balanced and quality controlled maps and leave de_dust2 in the garbage where it belongs.
>>238307146

they would have to stop using rootmotion vrik. That might be pretty hard.

I like you, Anon, and wish we still had more cute posts like this.
Just how good is serious sam in VR, and are the games just ports? Also is there multiplayer stuff cause I think I read some of you talking about playing a game, maybe co-op or some shit.
If the games are good this is one hell of a deal.
>>238314532
worth a playthrough and croteam is a very wide supporter of vr. I support them because they support us and actually help develop vr support for common graphics engines.
They also have their own vr game engine that isn't unity or unreal (so does crytech) but most people don't know that.
IS THIS WORTH 7 BUCC?

>>238315197
I looked that up before trying to buy VR kanojo, ended up not being able to buy it because illusion hasn't set a price for my currency yet.
It seems you can't change it, or delete it, you can only remove it by actually removing all social options from steam, using it purely as a game store and library.
>>238315475
>>238315197
you cannot. You can however make your entire profile private, but that's it.
>>238314532
Out of all bundles to get for vr right now, I think the croteam one is the best bang for your buck, especially if you've never played those games in flat mode
>>238314342
Noooooow I remember. Yeah I had a few weird floaty years around 2009ish where I mostly used other imageboards. Hung out mostly with the folks on 7.
>>238315197
HOWEVER. You CAN launch most games outside of steam, or launch something that can be launched outside of steam like OVRDROP so it doesn't actually show what you're playing. My playtimes are all super fucked because of that, I've got probably 2k hours in vrchat but many of them were pre-steam and due to custom launch options not going through steam.
>>238314817
Is it lightweight, easy to use and does it have an ARM fork with robust Vulkan support
>>238315762
420chan is pretty amazing, lots of imageboard innovation and netjesterAI is pretty cool.
When I was a edgy young adult experimenting with mind altering substances and raving I spent a lot of time there before social media was a thing and phpbb and chan boards were still all the rage.
>>238315921
I know they support vulkan, also amd's and nvidia's motion tricks for vr because they're godlike coders who do it from scratch, like carmak level stuff. They did a video on it a while back, basically bitching at nvidia for not being more open and praising amd for their incredibly underused vr libraries that benefit all cards.
As for it's usability and mobile support? no idea.
>>238307567
I'd be up for this
>>238312502
Pirate AAA stuff, dude.
Does this mean we can have proper dj's in VRchat clubs and VR games truly are intertwining into one massive virtual world or am I retarded?
Just tried eleven pong. Great but I suck and I kept bumping into things. I don't have enough space for this.
>>238316459
Actually shit I just had an idea: I set the table to be where my bed is.
>>238316337
this game works surprisingly well.
other impressive musical apps are paradiddle, soundstage, and electronauts.
>>238316337
oh and to answer your question, SORTA. If the sdk can be used to send OSP events to vrchat (which listens on port 9000) YES, you can indeed do that, kinda. You can also use the game to control things like lights and such based on what you're doing in the game, but it would be best to livestream it to a streaming player in a club.
I would love to see some integration though, since vrchat team spent so much tiem working on it, and the only maps I know of that use it are GM3's piano and the piano map
So I got Blade and Sorcery and was pretty underwhelmed by the complexity of the combat. I enjoy playing with the physics but the actual weaponplay is really really lacking and the AI is dumbfuck retarded. There were a few builds that were pretty fun to fuck around with, but I really wish it wasn't just a "you're a pretty much invincible badass go kill those guys.
Brawler: No weapons, just a health potion. Go in and punch them repeatedly. Smash them against walls. Literally you can just reach through their weapons and shield and grab their neck and you've won, you are never punished for it, it works every time. Finally, a game that lets me beat women.
Arrowfist: This is more of a challenge build, the only thing you're allowed to hold in your hands are arrows. It's a good feeling when you take the arrow out of an archer's quiver or from their bow and stab them in the eye with it. Also badass when you grab an arrow from the air with your force powers and throw it back at them.
I really really really hate using any of the weapons as intended though. Maybe I'm retarded but there's no reason to use the bardiche, spear, or claymore. There's no way to break their stance if they're blocking toward you aside from using environment objects like the barrels or chairs, so you can't inflict damage unless it's in one of their 3 canned attack animations, so combat has absolutely no variety between any of the three. Kicks and shield bashing seem totally useless as well. I have a small quip about calibrating characters, I can't seem to get it to calibrate right, and when I spawn in the home my view position is in the character's forehead.
Anybody know if there's more to do than the 3 levels and training room? More spells than electricity?
Vrchat is truly an amazing game, i mean i hate spanish "people" and this game gives me the chance to get back to them just by crashing them.
thank you vrchat

I actually have Racket Fury. The physics aren't as nice as Eleven but there's definitely more content and levels of AI. The jump from semi pro to pro and pro to world class seem to put a lot of people off. There's also options for cool effects when you smash the ball and a indicator for ball spin. It's definitely more beginner friendly and plays more like an arcade game than a simulator. As for the multiplayer I left the finder queue running for about an hour during 7-8pm est and didn't get a single hit.
