I've been struggling with this for a couple hours now. I've been trying to add a sound to the default walk animation.

The first thing I tried to do was create an animation with just the sound activation in it, and the sound itself worked, but upon use, the body collapses into the floor and does not animate. So obviously it seems like I need to insert the sound into the default animation somehow.

After searching the SDK for a copy of the default walking animation, the only place I found things to insert into the animation override was in the male standing pose thing. But it doesn't seem to be what I need, and when I try to create an animation with those, I just stutter-step and the sound doesn't play at all.

I mean, I get what I'm supposed to do, sort-of...but what simple thing am I overlooking that will make it actually work?

I am in the process of making my 3rd avatar right now, tuppers tutorial which is in the OP somewhere is still relevant and useful though a few things have changed. Just download a basic MMD model and make a simple avatar with that following tuppers guide, eventually you'll understand the lingo and what things other people are using to modify their avatars, at which point you should just look up tutorials around that specific subject like atlasing/baking/shaders etc.

Ubisoft pumps out new stuff every year, I remember playing a dancing game all the time by myself and with my family when the basic ass kinect came out. If they don't make a VR supported game real soon an independent/indie dev team could make a standout title like beatsaber since it's so obviously one of the biggest uses VR and FBT has to offer.

If you're talking about the seam you can fix by unwrapping your face with atlasing, it's only really noticeable if you are looking for it and at a certain distance away. There is a separate tutorial for manual atlasing that goes into this process (and I think the link is either in the vid or the description).

and you can search for more general 3d modeling resources about how to place seams and avoid distortion in UV unwrapping.

If you're not making your own 3d model, the UV maps you get from the average mmd model or game rip are fine. Instead of doing what tupper did and stupidly using twice the UV space for the face, just increase the bake margin, to 24px or so for a 2k atlas.
