Just tested ALVR myself, broadcasting a 5GHz hotspot from my PC directly.
The first test went extremely well. I used developer mode settings to disable the guardian on my quest and was able to visit every room in my house without losing signal in VRC or experiencing any significant lag.
The problems came when I tried to join the meetup. I learned that ALVR doesn't provide any microphone input back to the PC, so I used a bluetooth headset paired to my PC in a second test. The interference from the headset turned my video signal to absolute shit, with much more lag and pixel smearing. I'm tempted to get a UHF wireless mic like pic related which would have less interference, because the headset streaming on its own worked amazingly and wireless PC VRChat over my entire home is a fucking gamechanger.

It's easy to transmit high definition 8k video at a high framerate if you buffer a lot of it and use compression.

You can also download supermedium on steam, which is basically just firefox on steam with vr controls. I know about camera+, didn't have it loaded for some reason. Just replayed through some songs to get the pp back. The new scoring system is a little inflated compared to the old, which is fine by me.

I'm going to go try out an oculus quest demo later this week hopefully, to make up my mind on whether it's worth it or not. I don't have a PC right now so even though yes, a PC headset is way better, Quest has custom beat saber songs and that's all I need really. My worry now is comfort.
