Cosmos already seems like its dead in the water but a lack of details on it gives me the slightest of hopes, although still 99% sure its going to flop. Is there any other upcoming headset we could maybe get the slightest of hype from?

Rift S is cheaper in build, higher res and RGB screen, has in-out tracking, and is the currently supported product. Rift has better tracking if you have room for the towers, lower res, more screen door, better build quality, and is no longer supported so if your wire is ever damaged/wears out then you will only get another by buying second hand, which you will likely have to do anyway if you want a Rift.

Also you'll need some decent earbugs for the Rift S as the sound is a bit shit.

I’ve been planning on getting VR a long time, and today’s the day. I was getting pretty set on the Rift S, but I’m starting to reconsider getting PSVR. Cheaper, I have some compatible games already, more transportable than my whole PC, and a few nice exclusives. Of course PC had plenty of titles PSVR doesn’t, more mods, and better quality.
Looking for anyone to convince me I’d be making a horrible mistake going with PSVR, or that it’s not a big deal and I can be comfortable in my planned purchase. Getting one in a few hours otherwise.

I just bought H3 and it's nearly unplayable because the tracking keeps shitting itself constantly. The tracking either drops randomly or it does that thing where the game disappears and you see the Steam VR holodeck.

Check your insertion on the pectoralis to the humerus. It should flow into the arm and the deltoid should sit on top flowing with the clavicular head of the pec. Most of the bulk in the arm should be in the triceps not the biceps.
The thigh development is wonky. You're missing the teardrop from the medalius, and it looks like the lateralis muscle is missing entirely.
Also bring the traps down and widen them out, they're sitting too high. Lots of other little stuff too. When you do your studies try going from muscle group to muscle group and really understand what's going on underneath. Look up some anatomical drawings and try to cross reference muscle groups on your photos. It should make it easier to translate things to your model. Right now you should primarily focus on looking at your thighs and shoulders.

i use an odyssey+ and the $300 sale is fairly common, it's basically the normal price for it.

it has less cameras than the rift s, if you're going from outside-in tracking then it may be easier to get used to the rift s. the odyssey+ wins on visuals (anti-sde meme, oled, 90hz) and at this point WMR has really matured and has a lot of cool features.

you can open up any windows window and just overlay it anywhere in vr. it's really seamless and cool.

if you put your hands down at your sides with the o+ you lose hand tracking. that and trying to headpat people taller than you are where it fails the most, in terms of what you'd expect at least, you already know it'll fail behind you.

However I would suspect that in the future at least, we'll generally have even more fine grained control over our privacy in virtual spaces. For instance, limiting the amount of data we transfer depending on distance (kind of like how LoD works except we drop things like voice, eye tracking, body IK, etc), which also would help people with bad internet. We could have easily accessible settings for what data we want to send depending on which instance we'd like, maybe with whitelist/blacklist capability, and maybe an instant toggle button just like mic on and off. Honestly I think it'd be better if HTC just bought vrchat outright and just make the team continue to develop a free product that sells headsets instead of wasting resources trying to act as an independent profitable company and (((monetize)). Yeah there's already a fork that's got it working so I expect the compatibly issues to get fixed soon but then you have dependencies like the custom avatars that haven't been officially updated.

Glad this isn't just me. I get frame locking/stuttering something awful when I login half the time that never goes away. Idles at like 10fps. I can sometimes restart to make it go away other times not. Clearing the cache hardly does anything either.

Rec-room never ran very well though. I think it's the networking but can't really say. Low poly models also don't necessarily imply optimization either unfortunately.

vrchat's playerbase, I estimate, (based on trends I see daily in public worlds) is actually growing significantly.
It's hard to chart this, though thanks to Oculus Quest and Oculus Desktop builds of the game. To be clear however, the game has not dropped below 5000 concurrent players on steam alone at all, ever, with commonly around 9k peak averages daily since January 2018.
This is crazy for any "small" game. Absolutely insane. This makes it a SMASH VR HIT beyond almost all others according to steam's metrics, and the 66th most populated game as of today on ALL OF STEAM, let alone SteamVR, (#1 in vr return usage and total playtime by a long margin for most I imagine) and I estimate somewhere around half the userbase that is actually using vr hardware isn't even using steam itself, they're using oculus home or quest. Plus, some people don't even know it's supported on desktop thanks to the name alone! It's an extremely niche "game" that has hit 23k+ concurrent users on occasion.
