There's some basic skill transfer from avatars to worlds, but it's mostly a different beast. More rewarding to make maps, but there's a larger time investment and an expectation that you'll update it later. You can get by with dragging and dropping assets you found on the internet into a scene, so I'd say it has a lower skill floor.

If you want to get started, I'd recommend checking out https://www.models-resource.com/ and making a simple world by tossing assets from there into a unity scene and adding mesh colliders as needed. Also "acquire" Bakery (Unity plugin) as soon as you can to take care of lighting.

If you're using Link, that'd need to be connected directly to a PC that can run VR games. ALVR on a Quest is your best bet if you really want to do wireless streaming though, I'm not actually sure you can stream VR stuff through Steam's in home streaming. HTPC is going to be the best option for any other headset.

Hmm, that is tricky. The camera object's local position is the same offset as your headset from your physical playspace origin. So your controller script is moving your playspace origin and dragging your headset along with it (in virtual space).

I think you could add an extra transform to your hierarchy like

You can also check when moving the playerObject's XZ according to the headset delta that if your collider is going to go inside an object, instead only move as far as possible to not collide. That means that when you move your head physically into that object, instead it'll look like the world will move to avoid you clipping, like how pavlov does it iirc. And for the Y position, same sort of thing to avoid going into the floor based on Camera.localPosition.y, so you actually move up and down slopes.

No, rec room is more like a collection of pretty fun multiplayer minigames that (ideally) you play with 2-9 other friends. The best are the co-op quests, laser tag, and paintball, but the parkour race thing and disc golf are pretty good too. There's also a battle royale mode if you're into that sort of thing, but expect to play against a lot of kids in the public lobbies.

You could in theory just hang out in rec room, just like in theory you can play games in vrchat, but neither is that optimized for the particular use case. rec room has good netcode for multiplayer, but boring worlds to hang out in and boring blocky avatar, while vrchat has lots of avatars and lots of world variety but shitty netcode for multiplayer games (even with udon).

Got a weird issue with one of my avatars. For some reason when I lift my arms upwards or swing them around the front of my sides heading up, like, my avatar's entire chest area (not breasts, just like the chest and below the neck) "puffs" out? like as if I was puffing my chest out. It's very odd. In blender when I move the arms up or rotate the shoulders up the chest seems to behave normally, but in the actual game I get this weird puffing effect.

Try to pair 2k textures into an atlas with 4 mats to create a 4k atlas(resize to 2k in Unity) and you now have about 7 or 8 materials.
Try to pair similar materials, like all armor on one atlas, cloth on one rtc.
