>It probably can't be scaled up.

There's one place it can scale, if you do it top down- mmorpgs. If all the players are lead by the same hero king lord british whoever the fuck, that's a role where it could be both practical and affordable to make playing the character someone's job. You're not gonna pay an actor to be a quest giver who stands around and hands out the same boar killing quest to every player over and over, but royal proclamations and the other "stage" and story events sure it can work live down to a certain level.

I think that might even help make a game feel less like a ride everyone is taking a turn on and more like a shared world. And look how people love both vtubers and the main characters in normal mmos, of course a game could exploit both

I tried discussing Into the Radius in the other thread and got ignored completely until I was accused of being the dev shilling. It was a completely different story in this thread and other people bought it. There have been new names joining Pavlov, too, which hadn't happened in years. It is practically impossible to post about other games in the VRchat thread largely because anyone who wants to discuss them doesn't go to that thread in the first place. I tried for 4 years so if /vrgg/ does die for good, I'm not going back to /vrg/. There's no point.

>no music except for story parts
>only one hub
>no npcs, no factions, no npc interaction, no roaming npcs or mutants etc.
>no different weather types
>color
>only one map(I think 2.0 broke the original big map into different maps but I'm not sure)
I wouldn't say ITR is bad, it just isn't Stalker enough for me. What would really help in my opinion is to make things stand out a little bit more, some more color in some areas etc. It was a big turn-off seeing everything beeing gray and brown. I get that it's supposed to be bleak and depressing looking but it just feels like the dev turned saturation to 0 and called it a day.

I know the industry is going to small form factors because that's what all the normalfags want, but I couldn't give a shit. Sure I want them thin and light eventually, but not at the cost of having utter shit tier FoV and being dim as hell.

Don't know if it's available on the quest or how to get it but if you can get something called playspace mover you'll save yourself a lot of trouble. It allows you to move yourself by grabbing the universe and pulling it. Very useful for bringing yourself down a little bit into the ground to grab things that are below your irl floor (like down a slope or whatever in game) or adjust your position when you're sitting in a virtual chair.

Just make sure you open up the experimental settings and have a look, there's useful stuff in there like double tap for pass through camera.
Also if you find the image becomes blurry there is a good chance it's sliding or sagging on your face due to the shitty default cloth strap, if you can hold it still with your hands and get a more clear picture then you will want to get a third party strap, don't buy the official quest elite strap, it's nice but it will shatter into a million pieces.

I mean, you know how in arma you have the realistic and the easy mode flight model. If they had a realistic model that is like vtol, and then an easy mode where you just use your thumbsticks like playing a battlefield game on console, you could really get away with pretty much anything a console controller could do, but with the ability to lean out your driver side window and call some guy a faggot

I think it would translate pretty easily. Most of the gun stuff and inventory will be like Pavlov or H3VR, vehicles just work like typical VR vehicles work in a seated VR kind of way. Would probably be janky as fuck but I think it can be done in a good way given enough time and effort.

1) What's the % of games are to get running? There's a lot of late 90s/early 00s games I want to play in VR, would most them even be playable with vorpx or is it certain engines or modified games that make it easier?

2) How difficult is it to setup? There are guides for certain games, but if I played an experience with no guide would I be able to figure out how to make it work?

3) Generally, is is worth it overall? I just want some more VR ports, and this is the best I can hope for

I have 300 hours in the game, this update ruined everything for VR players. When I first tried it the other day, I couldn't use my overlay nor could I playspace move or use any other advanced settings features. Furthermore, the hand angles for when you pick up certain objects is fucked up (again) and opening doors is very nuanced and annoying. Oh and your radio / book has been forcibly moved to your hips, which can get in the way if you'd like to grab normal items from your belt.
They really should've made this update an optional open beta instead of forcing it upon us, because now I don't even want to touch the game in VR anymore due to how shitty it feels.

fuck that's literally the opposite of what they should've done, especially the radio/book change. No one was complaining about that so I have no idea what they were thinking.
Don't really use OVR, but that still sounds annoying. Hopefully they'll revert these changes once enough people complain.
Anonymous No.379544817 Replies: >>379580680

I agree, the old placement of the book/radio was intuitive and non-intrusive, but now its a 50/50 as to whether I'll grab those or my belt items. The devs are in slight damage control mode atm and not allowing proper VR feedback until next week, which makes me believe that they're probably working on fixing this mess for the time being (or at least that's what I'd like to think.)
I didn't even mention any of the non-VR issues the update brought, like how many hiding spots got arbitrarily nuked due to being "too strong" and now hiding on smaller maps is way less consistent, but at least that forces players to look around for a proper hiding spot now whilst looking for the ghost room, which isn't the worst thing I guess.

The reason the quest 2 is such a good wireless PC VR HMD is the on board hardware, and one of the devs who plays VRChat (valve dev) realised the power of wireless VR via just discoursing with other devs and normal players. So their internal plan is actually pretty fucking kino.

There's a lot of weird schematics on the net and stuff and leaks from the OS, the ultimate goal is to have a headband processor on the VR itself to be upgradeable. You could also upgrade your steam Deck for more FPS. Or your PC.

it's mean to be more user friendly and have options.

We'll see what actually happens

What I fully expect is just a HMD with on board hardware that can is powered via a deckard + Pc combo link, I believe differed rendering is a key word here somewhere I forget.
Anonymous No.379635529
Hence why the 2nd idea in the Deckard project, the steam Deck (derivative of the name Deckard) is already out. It was simpler to produce and create, the Deckard has obviously been in development longer and is quite the project. We'll see what really happens. You can basically have a PC(Possibly a laptop too to hook up to the mesh network), and a Deckard. Then, you can buy a steam deck and use it to upgrade your performance. You probably already OWN a steam deck by the time the deckards released.

You sometimes need to do a few side missions before you can do a story one.
Story missions usually encourage you to move into areas you might not have explored yet. They can bring a difficulty spike.
Story missions will often reward access to new items in the shop.
There are 5 maps, excluding the base.
The final story mission and map location is more linear.
