I received a Quest 2 for Christmas and my glasses prevented me from playing it comfortably. I just got Lasik for unrelated reasons and tried it the other day for the first time without glasses.

Yesterday I got Sidequest setup and installed Oculess. Couple questions for any kind anons willing to answer
- When I disabled Telemetry using Oculess, it showed a readout of 6 telemetry-related variables, and only 3 were actually disabled. Is this normal, or a sign I’ve messed up something in the install? I haven’t seen anyone else complain about this ambiguity with Google searching. I can try to grab a screencap later if this is too vague, but I don't know how to take snapshots of Oculus menus. (see below)
- Does Guardian provide any useful position/motion data for programs, or can I just disable it if I’m not concerned about my environment?
- Are there any essential programs/mods to grab that I would regret not finding later on? Looking at the sticky from /vrgg/, I’ll also grab XS Overlap and OpenVR Advanced Settings. Any other recommendations?
- What is the best way to record/screencap *exactly* what I’m seeing? The built-in recorder is extremely restrictive, doesn't let me share it any way except through Zuck's channels or pulling the file off the internal storage when connected to my PC, and removes things like the Guardian and passthrough stuff, which I wanted to show to someone.
- I'm getting a weird "snake" effect like when you used to drag icons in Windows when in the menu of a game I tried. I looked it up and found someone else on Steam had the same issue (pic related) after the latest update. The devs said Virtual Desktop isn't supported and I have to use a USB cable for their games to eliminate the issue. Is this sort of thing common? Will using VD to stream wirelessly cause bugs?

If your fingers tracks badly, all you need to do is to open your and and go in a wave motion of closing your hand starting with your small finger up to the thumb on the tracking buttons A B or the tactile pill. Until you see that when you have your fingers moving accordingly to the game and your real life hand. Sometimes the ring finger doesn't fully come down and uses both middle and ring in game. That's how you calibrate it but it doesn't matter at all in some other games like Alyx because it's well implemented.

As someone who has spent many thousands of hours in the index and has gone through 8-9 cables I have discovered a new meta to prevent cable damage. I sleep and ERP every dance and get smashed in VR so I put a lot of strain on my cable.
Remove the plastic clip and put two Velcro cable ties where the purple lines are, routing your cable under or over the knob. This allows you to lay down with your cable not really getting squished, and due to the softness of the cable ties and the angle at which it comes out of the second one it won't really get any hard kinks for thousands of hours. I've tried it without the second cable tie and it doesn't have the same effect for whatever reason, even though it looks counterintuitive. Zip ties are hard and have corners and will cause damage to your cable.
