With lazy headswaps you'll usually just fill in the underside of the head, and have the neck end in a point so you can just "stick" any old head on it.
If you want a perfect seam though, extrude the edges along the back and match them up to the head, then add a triangle where they meet the non-extruded section.
If these were the same mesh ( you should keep your head mesh separate ) you could just select he edges on both sides and do Bridge Edge Loops

Not for all my maps. 30 percent of my maps are fully my own.
There is also a lot of effort and knowledge necessary to place different art assets, made by other people coordinating them so they fit together properly in a grander bigger vision.
On top of sometimes doing networking work too to establish a plasticSCM collab environment like what I did with the idol2022 map and many others.

The initial creation of a scaffold of work slots so delegation of work from mesh, audio, script, materials and prefabs up to the finishing touches and optimizations necessary to finalize things and check then double check for bugs then the expected descope for some of the things that can’t be done on time. These take a lot of thought and time that I willingly like doing since people have fun on these maps.
That's on top of making the event itinerary and gathering the hosts, sub-hosts, sometimes judges and other staff who are very important to keep an event running if not running smoothly. See Sports Festival on how much complex events can get in terms of logistics

I know it’s a widespread meme easy to gossip about that I do no work. Yet it’s so far from the truth that my close friends can vouch for on how much sleep I lose over getting a map as good as I can deliver.

You could just drop in replace your 3700x with 5800x3d, it's on sale nowadays, and there was a price drop recently.

Also VRAM is important (if not enough use avatar hider) and you'd want at least 32 gigs of RAM, with some high clockspeed, at least 3200 MHz, don't forget to turn on XMP profiles in BIOS.

I played a friends Quest 2 today and want one, but a few games like Duck Season require I play on pc.

I’ve watched a hundred tutorials on how to set up steam vr and all, but everything I read says the touch controllers aren’t compatible with pc and nothing clarifies what to do about that. What controller would I need to use a quest 2 on pc?

Morphing the mesh with blendshapes is expensive, and it is performed for the entire mesh, not just the vertices affected by the blendshape.

The controllers connect to the headset, which can connect to the PC over WiFi or USB. You're good to go.
Oculus/Meta has its own "Platform" on the PC for using their PCVR headsets, which also acts as the server for streaming games to the Quest wirelessly ( Airlink ) or cabled ( Link ). From their platform you can also launch SteamVR games.
The popular third-party Virtual Desktop app ( purchased on the Quest store ) has its own streamer app on the PC. It tends to be more stable, and has less overhead since it talks directly to SteamVR, but you can also use it to play games on the Oculus PC platform games.

If not, why does the steam version of Virtual Desktop not work with a quest? Can’t any steam vr game launch on a quest when wired? Virtual Desktop for the Quest lets you:

The PC version existed long before Quest was a thing, but it's literally just a view-your-desktop-and-play-videos program. Emulating a locally-connected VR headsets and streaming that to a remote device, which is what the Quest version does, is a different beast entirely.
You could use Oculus Link to run the PC version of Virtual Desktop, but if you just want to view your desktop and play video files, I would highly recommend just using the Quest version of Virtual Desktop directly.
With some adb shenanigans it is possible to run VD over usb instead, but it's a bit of a pain and requires some technical know-how

I remember one time I installed a bunch of mods for skyrim, including some coomer mods and NPC expansions as well. One of the mods that added extra town NPCs was fully voice acted and added these prostitutes to Riften. There were a couple of them that would be down in the docks by the canal during nighttime that you could toss a few coins to in order to fuck them.

In my experience merging meshes and then vertices at the seam, and then separating the meshes makes the normal good enough. It can fuck up blendshapes though. In Blender I'm basically a monkey pushing buttons semi-randomly until stuff seems to work how I want so take that with a grain of salt.

By the way, how are you checking for the seam? There was a configuration of viewport display that shows seams even if there wouldn't actually be one, maybe try playing with it.

Has anyone been able to hear radios in their Quest 2 headset? I was hearing people talk but could not understand them. I believe the quality is the same because the bottleneck is the Quest video decoder not the cable or the WiFi. There is probably a small amount of extra delay but I don't find it noticeable. I went from cable to WiFi and I'm never going back. You can test the wireless without a battery pack to see what it's like, you just wont get much play time before it drains.

I don't post on this website much but I've been joining the meetups for a few weeks now and I've met a lot of really cool people! I've noticed though that there seems to be a pretty big elephant in the room about unaddressed mental health concerns in the community. I know it can be kind of awkward to talk about at first, but myself and millions of other people can attest to how important it is to get these things professionally treated. I know so many people who were really struggling but have fought their way to become healthy members of society through therapy and SSRIs.

I was thinking we could have an event where we would invite a licensed professional to come and talk to the community, and hopefully get some preliminary diagnoses for people. Getting these important conversations started in a fun, stress-free environment would be a big first step for a lot of people. I was thinking we could use the collective effort of the VRG community to crowdfund a professional visit - I've helped arrange similar things before in other communities, and I bet we could find someone willing to come by for a really good rate, since people will probably need follow-up sessions.

Again - absolutely no stigma or judgement - everyone just wants to get you the help you need. :) Shoot me a reply if you have any feedback or you're interested in pitching in to help get this thing done!
