If image in the headset looks blurry but fine on the monitor, increase your rendering resolution!
If you start to feel sick when playing, stop and have a rest. You'll get your VR legs eventually, just don't push it.

Among us VR is incredibly fun just listening to kids being retarded

yes
it's time to go home, white man.

>Official Modding Tool. Titled Pistol Mix, the officially supported community modding tool for Pistol Whip on PC VR will roll out in 2023.
I'm late but man, about fucking time. If this gets even a small fraction of Beat Saber's custom song makers it would extend the game's lifespan by so much. I wonder how it'll work though, from a mechanics perspective it's going to be very involved and may dissuade all but the most dedicated of autists given the massive labor that is creating custom environment. I hope they have a very comprehensive map generation built in at launch.
How's Moss 2? More substantial than the first game?
The new rifle bullet time in itr is a bit too overpowered. Should be either shorter or dependent on stamina. You canclean green house with an svd from the look out
>>410500297
I think I'd be willing to remerge at this point. It actually feels like what little VR discussion there is to be had is being diluted between two threads now.
fuck. these new gun sounds for h3 are pure sex
>>410486312
in vrchat you can edit the lobby settings and there's more than one map. The task system is the only thing they official game does better.
>>410514171
Bullet time? Like the Matrix?
>>410514171
it's just the aim smoothing scoped rifles had before just bound to a button toggle
>>410519391
Kind of like blade and sorcery time dilution. Grabbing rifle with two hands and pressing a slows time, makes sniping with the 2x7-40 imba
>>410514171
Wait what the fuck who the fuck asked for this
>>410520537
works with every rifle. AKM from the hip in bullet time can be practical for clean up missions
>>410514171
Why is this even in the game and NOT AN ARTIFACT'S EFFECT?
>>410514171
Dev could work on better AI instead of that.
>enemy can notice you through the walls
>pathfinding is shit, so he keeps attacking the wall
>>410529078
They can already shoot you through walls if they stop close enough to one. However if enough of them is sticking through you can attack them too
>>410533745
My favourite is when the enemies fall through the geometry and then shoot your through the floor.
>>410534484
Shit, I didn't know they could do that too. The devs were smart to take a S.T.A.L.K.E.R approach so most people wave off game breaking bugs with a "such is life in the zone"
>>410536678
It's just plain laziness/incompetence. At some point you just get feed up with the bullshit, like inability to step over 10cm rails for example, and start to despise the game.
Since there is barely any discussion going on here I thought it would be interesting to dissect and discuss recent PSVR2 trailers
Here's the first one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD0GqYlHhKc
No mention of eye tracking so I'm guessing it's gonna be a spacewarp title unfortunetly. The geometry detail also resembles that of psvr1 instead of pcvr version
sorry, my mommy told me not to talk with niggerspacers
>>410539519
The same problem like with every attempt to sell vr through flat, on the surface it looks like every other game with extra hand animations. Cant get the depth perception from vr into flat
>>410539519
PSVR1 and PC VR versions were already pretty similar from what I remember. Game wasn't really a looker to begin with but the dynamic lighting effects were nice, which is something the Quest version didn't get.
But just from experiences in crossplay trying to aim with the Move controllers must've been nearly impossible.
Hi lovely and knowledgeable people,
I’m about to buy a used Rift S VR headset for my 13 yo son. Never had one before, he has a gaming laptop and I think the specs are compatible. I don’t understand a lot about videogames or this technology. I would like to know if there’s any reason I shouldn’t buy. I can’t afford anything better. Thanks!

what are you paying for a Rift S these days?
>>410551487

I guess it’s easier to be a parent these days if you are into tech and games. I never liked videogames or VR and don’t know much about it which is very annoying as I need to guide my kid. It’s especially hard because other than helping him in this I have no interest whatsoever
>>410546116
No better way than normie nuVR testimonials to showcase VR but they're always faked unfortunately.
>>410549890
That's good to hear. I hope the haptics are truly being utilized. Apparently the star wars PSVR2 demo that previewrs got to try gave every weapon a different feel through the haptics. This is a third party non Sony affiliated dev we're talking about so hopefully vertigo goes balls deep into haptics as well.

This one looks pretty nuts with all the particle effects and shit. I honestly wouldn't mind playing it at a mere 60 fps since it looks so good.
>>410551910

399 seems a bit steep for an S. Your noy is going to figure it out on himself. He he tries to ask for fursuits that is when its time to worry

Probably gonna grab Bonelab to play over the xmas break. I've heard it's not really much better than boneworks, but with less content. How true is that?
>>410602509

>>410602859
I honestly liked the first so I'm happy hearing that then
Worst part was the pipe you had to climb up into and your legs prevented you from stepping into it
Should I grab Boneworks / The Room VR / Lone Echo ? Haven't played in more than a year.
I need to play seated or I get nausea in seconds, so I've already done I Expect You to Die and Moss (gonna play their sequel) before trying Alyx.
Also I'm swapping my Rift for a Quest 2 (problem with the sensor in my actual room), what's the current recommendation for playing PCVR with it ? Oculus Link / Virtual Desktop / Something else ?
Any tools recommendation ?

>>410609032
>Boneworks
very nausea-inducing if you can't handle a lot also can't imagine it being good when you have to play seated
>>410614307
I tried ReLive once and there was a noticeable audio delay, was also a bit of a pain getting it to pair in the first place
ALVR just werks for me
>>410609032
Quest 3 will probably (according to leaks) come October 2023 so if you can wait that'll be a lot better than quest 2 thanks to pancake lenses (you'll actually be able to see the edges of your screen). Plus the Quest 3 might have Wifi 6e, which would seriously benefit wireless streaming.
Virtual Desktop is the best for wireless, but it's $20. Air Link is pretty good and is free, but I can't get the same bitrate as VD without stuttering. I never actually got ALVR working because it's a pain to set up, but it's FOSS at least. Link is great, but not worth the wire IMO (even for seated VR, it's just annoying).
Boneworks will get you sick, lone echo gets some people sick, and they can stand in VR so you're probably screwed. Just grow your VR legs already
>>410617716
Ok so I'll pass, I've tried Alyx for 1h and it was fine but wasn't sure about Boneworks.
>>410619541
Ok so I won't mess with it thx.
>>410619668
A friend (the same that give me his Rift) just bought a Pico 4 and is selling me is Quest 2 that he never use since he doesn't want to create a FB account.
>Just grow your VR legs already
It's not my legs the problem (I can do shit like Just Dance fine) but I've tried Alyx and Moss and I had to seat ASAP to stop the nausea.
>>410620120
Do you not understand what I mean by VR legs? https://vrheaven.io/vr-legs/
It's just slang, grow your VR legs means to overcome VR motion sickness
>>410552290
Love the particle effects from shooting stuff. More games (not just VR) need to bring back bullets kicking up tons of dust everywhere. The fake scope thing is terrible though, that crap is totally unusable.
>>410622205
Oh my bad I did not understand it like that.
What is the relation between Oculus / AppLab / SideQuest ? It's like Steam / Greenlight / Itchio ?
>trying to teach my gf to fly a jet in vtol VR
>>410504348
i just played pistol whip for the first time the other day and my legs have been on fire ever since and im already in good shape
>>410514171
what game is this referring to
>>410631081
>It's like Steam / Greenlight / Itchio ?
Yep pretty much. But for sidequest you need an Oculus developer account (easy to set up, but Oculus could take this away whenever they feel like), so the only official ways Oculus/Meta wants you installing apps is through the official store or app lab
>>410631480
Into the radius
>every VR tutorial involves piling tons of components onto different objects full of unused methods and variables
Does this get compiled into something sensible or will Unity actually waste memory and CPU time on all this junk?
>>410607114
Bonelabs is a quested version of boneworks. Worse graphics, less content, smaller levels, even the physics were simplified noticeably. They banked on the game being carried by mods and even tied this into the story. The entire game is a tutorial for movement and that's about it. I honestly cannot recommend people even try it.
Also worth noting the game's controls do not allow you to jump or crouch reliably on vive controllers.
>>410634272
Judging by how absurdly hard H3VR is on CPU, I'm guessing the latter.
>>410637445
That's just Unity. It's impressive the game runs as well as it does. I don't think there were many existing assets to use in 2016 when Anton started.

>>410642969
This I need to know if I can upgade from rtx 2060
I actually managed to figure out how to do something in Unity. I am one step closer to making a VR game.
>>410642969
I've been using a Radeon VII for a few years now. There's been one driver update a year or so back that broke VR and I had to fall back to an older driver, and every six months or so, there'll be an update that breaks Relive (AMD's screen recording thing) with VR. But other than that, the software side of things has been okay for me.
>>410615018
>>410642969
If someone is interested ... RX580 and Windows just fucked once again the driver.
>>410576924
The gunplay doesn't look great how? I'd be fine with it if it plays anything like zero caliber.
>>410629734
Yeah that one's kind of a bummer. the semi auto in re4 had the same scope implementation and I never liked using it.
Next game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HniskV3aJ7o
This could be very good "lube" title for friends and family new to VR but I'm afraid It's gonna be too short. Their PSVR1 game was only about an hour long but apperently had a decent story. I hope everything in this trailer isn't all mashed in one level for the sake of playtime. Just watched a couple minutes of playthrough from the first game and wow its pretty sickening(as in subject matter not motion sickness). Very cool. I hope that it's there and they're just holding some of it back in the trailer.

Somehow I missed this announcement. The original flat screen game is really good, and the premise lends well to a VR conversion. Shame it's only announced for Quest though

Just got my Meta Pro controllers. Definitely feels more premium when compared side to side with my Valve Index and Quest 2 controller. I really like the size of it and the lack of rings around the controller. Haptics feel great and the tracking is incredible. Charging from the dock makes things a lot easier, and battery life has been really good. Haven't had a issue with it yet but who knows, that might change. I'm satisfied with the purchase.
how long does it usually teak for VR optician lenses to arrive?

It is Pavlov day!
So why is it that in every VR shooter I've tried, everyone has their magazines stored upside-down (as in, with the rounds exposed)? Does any game have magazines the right way around?
>>410709475
nah, vr optician is legit. Most likely your package got lost and it hasn't hit the timeout on being lost where the system updates it as being gone. It might get scanned at some point somewhere and turn up but I wouldn't bet on it, contact vroptician to send another.

>>410772027
5 player co-op? Most I can think of are limited to 4. Pavlov has some good zombie modes but you already listed that. VTOL has >4 player custom PvE missions. You could play Zenith as a 5 man group and steamroll everything. VRChat has different co-operative worlds that support that many players but I'm not trans so I can recommend any. Vox Machinae technically counts if you fill all the other slots with bots.
Somewhere in the middle of PVE and PVP you've got Climbey.
Team based PvP other shooters like Contractors you can stack a team in the lobby. Hyperdash when it goes f2p should get enough players for you to play as a 5 man team.

Ok lmao what the fuck is this??? The excuse previously was slower bus speed and shit. Now that's not an excuse, yet AMD is still garbage for VR as usual. There's no way it's this bad. It has to be a driver issue. It makes no sense. The hardware specs are literally there. It's so bad lmao. Maan I was so ready to ditch my 6900xt, but this is just garbage. I don't want a to buy a 4080 either, it has good performance, but it's an overpriced scam. 4090 is for retards. Jesus christ what the fuck is going on? What a disaster. I'm sure a driver update will improve the performance, but I have big doubts that it will compete with the 4080. Why do these 7000 series cards even exist? Literally. People only need performance for VR, and if it's bad at that then why? You don't even need a 6000 series for flat gaming, let alone this overpriced shit. Holy shit AMD kill yourselves.

I post this here too, the other thread is just gossiping
I have the chance to get a new VR headset, should I get a quest 2, yes, no, why?.
I would go for the Valve index but I've seen too many people having issues with it, either with the controllers, or the cable, or with the headset just breaking, and I'm not willing to pay for something that will break within the year, and can't get RMA due to 3rd world country.
I have the original vive with index controllers + FBT at the momet, beeen rocking the vive for at least 3 years, so I'm checking what's out there.
shilling incomming
>>410872596
Get an index, same reason as I posted in the other thread.
>>410872596
Index seems like the obvious choice if you already have the controllers/lighthouses/trackers.
>>410859870
It's fine depending on what you want to play I guess, but unless you get a really good price, why even bother?
>>410873589
I was really hoping that the 7900 XTX would be good for VR because newer Nvidia cards won't fit in my case. Oh well, it's not like I can find any of these things at MSRP anyway.
>>410875831
Yeah I was having big hopes too, but AMD shat on them. Fuck AMD I hope they die.
>>410872596
What do you want to do with a new headset?
If it's more of the same the Index seems like the obvious upgrade path. Maybe Vive Pro 2 as an alternative if RMA or the possible upgrades matter more than price.
Quest 2 would be if you want something different. Wireless, access to standalone games and casual usage outside of your VR room. With all the issues a hybrid setup has you'd still be better off using your Vive for games with FBT.

I have two reasons: the first one I wanna try something new, the second one, I'm growing a bit tired of the vive, is slowly falling apart and is starting to feel uncomfortable to use, one of the controllers don't work and even if I have index controllers, one has a drift issues and playing any kind of vr game is just annoying.

This is an actual game, you know?
90% of people are using an index. No headset will last, index lasts one of the best now.
What you're looking for is actually availability of parts and warranty. Other headsets actually have this same problem with parts failing (eg cables, controllers) but then you have terrible RMA processes and spare parts are hard to get. Index parts are available and the warranty is solid.
It's up
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJaC4KTsj88
>>410943242
I don't see an issue with Meta. I had a good experience with their RMA process and I haven't came across an issue with the spare parts. At least with the Quest, youcan rely a lot on 3rd party stuff rather than it being all from Meta. I can buy a 3rd party router to easily play wireless, I can buy a 3rd party cable to play PCVR, I can completely customize my headset's comfort/audio solution and controllers with 3rd party accessory.
>>410946573
Well the quest is the exception but I was mostly talking about other headsets like the G2 or the pico or the vive pro 2; there honestly aren't many headsets to choose from. If you want to upgrade from a vive, go index. Quest 2 will feel like you messed up.
The Quest is still a resolution and lense upgrade from the Vive but if you don't touch standalone or play any games that significantly benefit from being wireless then it's going to be a sidegrade at best.
90% of people here would choose an Index because they're only interested in PCVR or spend most of their VR time in VRChat. Chances are you are too.
>>410951458
>if you don't touch standalone
why would you not use standalone when many old game ports work, mobile gachas and VR convertor emulators

I have the quest 2 with the pro controllers and I honestly don’t feel like I’m missing out on much. I do own the index but I’m not a fan of the comfort of the index and the thick cable being very noticeable isn’t really for me. Audio is great though but the visuals is pretty annoying with the glare especially if you’re watching a video. It’s awful, and I don’t want to play this rng game where I keep on returning the headset until I get one with less glare or maybe even more. Base stations are annoying, as there is delay each time whenever you start it up and it makes this tinnitus sounds when they’re on. In my room, they’re not even at the most optimized areas and I’d have to put them really high up but fuck that. I’m good with my meta pro controllers which require none of that. The valve controller itself only has the finger tracking that makes it stand out but everything else, I hate. How big and bulky it is, how cheap it feels, how you need two usb c cables to charge both of them, how you’re forced to wear the strap which makes me fucking sweat so much, and the economics aren’t the greatest.

im looking for some game recommendations, as someone with two specific criteria
>i have a reverb g2, so anything with a lot of fast movement and tracking is a no
>i dont have space at the moment so i play only in seated mode
im looking for something that meets this criteria. namely, something slow paced with some kind of exploration. i was thinking an adventure game or vehicle sim. i picked up assetto corsa as its only 4 dollars, and its kind of neat but not really what im looking for (im not a racing sim autist, and its also a pretty old game so the sights arent that pretty). i was thinking something like euro truck simulator, something i could just drive around and see the sights in would be nice, but ive never played it. i also saw elite:dangerous in the OP, which ive never heard of, and thought maybe it might be similar to what im looking for. really id take suggestions for any game that works well in seated mode.
and on a related note, another question: does skyrim VR work well in seated mode too, or is it just not going to work very well?
The garbage XTX VR performance MUST be a driver issue right? Right? They'll fix it with a dirver update and it will be as good as a 4080 right? Right...

As long as you have enough space to stretch your arms and swing them around and preferably a chair that can turn around to not have to rely too much on stick turning, it works.

>>411060285
Skyrim VR is almost better seated. It doesn't require much movement so playing while standing still for too long gets uncomfortable. I used to have to take breaks to sit down IRL while at campfires and taverns because my feet were killing me after a couple dungeons. Immersive as fuck but not optimal for long gaming sessions.

>>411120907
Unfortunately, the networking make anything like real sword fighting impossible.
Does Skyrim VR still have the hard 255 plugin limit even with ESLs, or do ESLs not count towards the limit anymore? I wanted to do another playthrough and add some more quest mods, but I'm either at or very close to the plugin limit, and I've already merged everything that can be merged.
>>411103018
God I hope its not reporjected on PSVR2
>>411120395
why is it the worst option?
>>411121446
Not recently, but the last time I played it, I got horrible stuttering from the game's broken reprojection framerate boosting thing. It works like a bad v-sync implementation. My refresh rate was 144 Hz, and whenever the framerate would dip, the reprojection would kick in, cut my framerate to 72 FPS, and cause a stutter. I worked around it by setting the headset refresh rate to 90 Hz.
>>411127891
Its personal taste. Snap make me dizzy, same as controler direction and teleporting, while I can smooth turn around at full speed, doing irl pirouetts against the motion while taking the Pechorska space express, others would puke
for now all options should stay in games
>>411130462
To me and most others whatever seems more "natural" at first glance always induces motion sickness. Smooth turn, accelerated walking like bonelab, bobbing(idk if any vr games have actually done this)
>>411134947
I think a game with headbob would actually be able to make me nauseous.
Also that accelerated walking shit is absolutely horrendous. Do people actually play like that? It feels like I'm lurching and about to tip over ever time I deflect the analog stick.
>bobbing
the standard helmet in itr has a discret bobbing, and it is a bit annoying, but I take it as it adding to immersion.
>>411135091
I love accelerated running, the faster the better. Quake 3 on native quest is fun, sairento on pcvr seems to be the fastest most chaotic I have found, wall running, sliding, instant turn around, while swinging a blade while firing an smg at the same time
>>411137060
Accelerated walking doesn't mean walking fast, it means that there's an acceleration curve that gradually ramps you up to moving at max speed. I find that crap horrible, I need my speed to match exactly how far I'm pushing the stick without any artificial delay. I'm perfectly happy playing Serious Sam running around at 500 MPH but the speed curve has to be linear.
>>411137345
This is what I>>411134947
meant by accelerated walking
>>411124848
Don't they have some kind of mod merging system to work around that nowadays?

>>411127891
disorienting, sudden jump makes you take a second to get in your direction while with quick smooth turn you see where you're turning to
>>411138197
What do you mean? A new system of merging mods, or the existing system of merging mods? Because like I mentioned, I've already merged everything I can merge. Everything else is mods with scripts, which, unless things have changed drastically in the last two years, you can't merge scripted mods.
>>411138501
Valve seems like they'd be more than happy to colaborate on putting Alyx on the PSVR2 and Sony is definitely reaching out to devs for ports so it would be a little weird if it never got ported.

The nametags did get fixed. Not sure about end of round but who cares about that one.
>>411335041
What do the nametags look like now?
>who cares about that one
Avoiding dying at the end of the round is important. You have to intentionally look in the wrong direction to get the banner to spawn there so you can see properly.
>>411335630
The new nametags are just the name in white with a red line under them. Very easy to see through.

Added support for mod.io to make modding cross platform though. However, the siwtch to UE5 means everything needs to be remade, and then also moved to mod.io. Pretty lame desu

ok good to hear. I can't stand Contractors because i hate TDM especially in VR.
I don't need VR COD.
>>411340054
mod.io is becoming the goto platform for mods it seems. Blade and Sorcery is getting an ingame mod manager through it too.
>>411344713
Easier integration for UE games through plugins
Multi-platform on top of that
Steam workshop can't compete with it, but to be fair if not workshop, many games(including same UE titles pre-modio) there could be just no other system to easy install mods

Why hasn't he released it on the Quest standalone? That's easy money.

it is a great game, though that piano was disappointing. Each note plays as a separate unity AudioClip, and the sustain is so long that if you try to play anything complex with multiple copies of yourself, you run into the 32 simultaneous audio playback limit and notes don't trigger properly. I tried.

a VRmmo that isn't pure shit for once that is very polished and high quality could potentially give that feeling desu, like hanging out in the cities/social hubs before going on adventures
but i think we're like 5 years too early for that
>>411382661
Every time I see anyone suggesting a VRmmo I get sad about how shit township tale is. Absolute primo crafting mechanics (including cooking) and the climbing tower is great but literally everything else is shit. Map is shit, combat is shit, mines are shit, "boss" levels are shit, the forest is shit, they removed crafting armour years ago and now only have cash shop cosmetic clothes, character models are shit, and the server client is so shit even on a vrg hosted private server it just couldn't handle more than 5 people in different places or travelling down the mine layers too quickly. Worst of all the devs just refuse to do anything other than update the cash shop cosmetics rotation.
I WISH it was good. Holy fuck I wish it was but god damn they need to redo the entire game.
>>411393720
Yeah, sadly we're gonna need to wait for a long time before each dev makes one part of the game that is actually good, and then we have to wait until a dev gets the genius idea to combine them all into one actual good game that would perhaps be worth playing
One thing I felt ever since I got into VR is that a Runescape style game would be the ideal candidate... The questing isn't dumb grind quests like WoW has, but instead puzzle/adventure/riddle type quests that are perfect for VR, combined with the actual chopping of wood, mining of ore, fishing, etc
It's just a perfect match
>>411382661
I'm not convinced there is an MMO that isn't pure shit, nevermind VR.

Yep, that's township tale. Carving the wood into items is putting it on a lathe and chipping out pieces in the correct order. The ore you throw into a furnace with a mold then heat and hammer it into shape. All the pieces are then physically assembled by hand too. Great systems but there are no quests or storyline to give it any purpose.

for me the closest thing ive found is probably vtol VR. theres even a bunch of ATC larping servers up now which i havent spent much time in but there was non stop ATC chatter from people taking off and landing and just flying around and some minimal goofing around. but i love flight sims in the first place so im biased here.
second choice would be rec room but i havent done that much and never talked to anyone in it because being a quest game makes it slightly too rough around the edges for me to have gotten much into yetj but im probably just being nitpicky and should play it more
>>411406650
It's just hard to create an mmorpg in VR. They need some crazy funding with really talented VR devs to optimize shit.
>>411393720
Why isn't Township tale on steam anyways?
>>411407354
MMOs just fucking suck in general because they havent managed to innovate at all in decades and everyones grown out of them
also theres the problem of how lots of players would be a huge strain on quest headsets so they'd have to limit the number of players per server/instance drastically or abandon quest and get few sales and very few players anyway
valve should be making some kind of cool ass hub for VR gaming like vr chat or metaverse, except make it not shit and not conducive towards trannies playing as cute anime girls who scare off all the normal people
the Blood Trail developer looks he smokes crack himself
Blade and Sorcery fags are the worst. They always tell you about how many mods there are etc. but it is just different weapons, skins, etc, nothing that adds to story or gamemodes.
It is ok that you like to play it because of power fantasies but don't act like there was any great content or value in this game beside that.
Same with Quest 2 users, yes for standalone alone it is great because of big store but it is a piece of shit hardware, there are better headsets for less money.

Is it worth it to build a 4090 PC for VRchat, and other VR games sometimes? By my calculations here in northern yuropoor it would be about $4k, which is crazy, but I can afford it if I really want to.
I'm currently playing on a 2070 Max-Q laptop with a Reverb G2 (2K per eye) and it's quite laggy in locations with more than a few people. And I'm looking to eventually upgrading to something like Meganex (2.5K per eye OLED, if it's not vaporware) or similar, but probably not Pimax because of its size and associated QoL worries.
>>411448460
pretty sure all you need is a 3080ti for full performance, but if you want to spend the money for new and big toys and maybe hope vr gets a huge upgrade soon, then go ahead
>>411448460
I don't think graphics cards are the normal bottleneck in any VR game.

>>411448460
I feel like you're going to be bottlenecked by engine limitations and then CPU and then GPU for VRchat. But if money's no object then why not. I'd get a 4090 if I could find one at MSRP.
>>411448460
No. 4080 is the card I'd recommend. 4080/5800X3d
>>410953637
Gameplay is pretty basic, puzzle 3D "platformer", dodge radiation and sticky stuff in 3D space
But main focus is on non-gameplay - storytelling, level design, lore, immersiveness (no HUD, not even subtitles), all of which I really liked
Second game adds more tools, more threats, hub world. Pretty good sequel
tl;dr looks and sounds pretty, gameplay is secondary, overall I liked them a lot
>>411454472
>5800X3d
I would like to thank the autist for sperging out about that CPU a couple threads back, it really is ideal for VR
>>411408490
>but it is a piece of shit hardware, there are better headsets for less money.
Like what? The headset was like 300 dollars and it offers the best standalone experience with great wireless options for PCVR and a lot of customization options for comfort. It also offers the best inside tracking without any base stations with the Pro controllers. I spent 600 dollars including the pro controllers and it’s nearly on par with base stations. People here paid 1000 dollars for the whole index package.
>>411459524
Some fag made fun of me for wanting to upgrade to the 3d form my 5800x, but I did and I got like a 10 fps increase in VR.
>>411460665
It sucks how it's a real upgrade
>>411448460
12900k/4090 here and did some testing in VRChat. Testing at around 5k x 3.1k per eye res, it was sort of a toss up. Sometimes, I was CPU bound, like real fucking CPU bound(50-60FPS in heavier Vket worlds with sub 50% usage on the 4090) and so the 4090 was kind of wasted. But in some worlds I was getting 90%+ usage even with 20+ avatars all right in front of me while still maintaining 60FPS+ at ultra settings, so the 4090 was definitely getting good usage there. But you'll want yourself a good CPU as my CPU was always getting hit heavily. Anything but Alder/Raptor Lake and Zen 4 or the 5800x3D is probably going to end up holding you back in VRChat.
Other VR games the 4090 largely trashed even at ultra settings with that res, so something like the MeganeX it'd handle great in the vast majority of titles.
So how come some anon itt new about the A0 silicon on the 7000 GPUs being allegedly unfinished and posted about it in here before any of the leaks came out?
>>411462180

>>411464720
NTA, but all they have said is that shader prefetch is working, not that GPU's are working properly.
There is obviously something wrong, it's actually so bad that AMD is forcing driver poos to work through the christmas holidays without vacation just so they can salvage the drivers asap.

The AMD chipset has issues with some headsets, last I heard, so you have to be careful with that too, but if it runs it'll probably run well. The GPUs, yeah, RDNA isn't really built for VR. Even when the raw performance is okay, there are more random drops and stutters when compared with Nvidia.
>>411536290
The 7900XTX is beyond buggy with VR right now. Absurdly bad performance issues to where the 6900XT trades blows to legit outperforms it in a handful of titles, flatout doesn't work with some headsets, and the Index not working with 144hz mode is a known issue several people have reported.
The 7900XTX is a retarded choice for VR. Try it again in 8 months.

I'm wondering if I should cuck myself with a 4080. I just want to be able to play in 90hz in VR man, nothing else. 16GB VRAM should be good enough I assume even for another few years, right? I mean what game with what headset will use more, even if I upgrade my G2 to the new Index headset when it's out...
>>411543031
It's probably enough, but in most places in the world the price difference between 4080 and 4090 isn't that big since Nvidia is clearly trying to upsell people to the 4090. But if you can get a good deal then why not, it's a good card, just overpriced as fuck and should cost like $800-900 instead of $1200 (and in reality ~$1500 in most places).
>>411543031
16GB will be fine. Do check 4090 prices and try and get a deal on a 4080 but otherwise the 4080 is the VR card to get. Or a cheap 3090

I'm a cucked yuropean (VAT, etc) and also on a 850W regular PSU. There are no deals to be had. A 3090 also isn't an upgrade or good enough for the G2 in any way shape or form. I can buy a 4090 and even a new PSU if I wanted to, I just don't want to. Fuck Nvidia so much.

WAIT JUST WAIT FOREVER
5k series ain't coming for like 2 years, don't wait.
>>411544909
I mean yeah. The long and short of it is that this is the GPU market now. If you're in that rare % that actually needs to drive dual 3k screens or whatever the fuck then you're basically going to need to invest. An 850W is enough for a 4090 usually by the way. Downvolt a little for safety and you're golden.
>>411544813
>just wait bro
>>411544909
I'm also in Europe, with a first run G2 from that initial bestware batch, and yeah, the prices here fucking suck. But between 4080 for 1500 EUR and 4090 for 2000 EUR (which is _sometimes_ available) I'd go for a 4090 since at that point it's a 4K EUR PC anyway. Being yuropoor sucks, but at least I'm not in my home country where tech prices are even more fucked now.
I think 850W is actually good enough for 4090, no need whatsoever to use the 600W mode and undervolting/underclocking (don't remember which one it was for 4090) can even limit it to 350W with negligible performance loss. People run it with 750W even.
>>411545704
Cheapest 4090 is the equivalent of 2250 EUR in here.

In the stores it's 2300+ here (Finland), but it's possible sometimes to get a better deal on Proshop, second-hand Tori (local eBay) or those Manli cards from eBay for ~2100. I'm actually considering those since they are 3-slot and with "classic" fans, so they can fit in an SFF PC (FE also can, but the fan arrangement bothers me a little)

>>411573683
We're getting to the point where lower resolution HMDs are legit getting maxed out by high end cards and refresh rate limited. Hell, I'm playing on a Pimax 8k X and I'm refresh rate limited on certain games despite max or close to max graphics with a 4090, and that's dual 4k per eye. I think comparative benchmarks between cards are hard, but a performance showcase of it in some real world circumstances can be pretty useful when taken on its own.

reminder that if the game isn't running at your HMD's refresh rate: its a bad game and the developers suck
relying on ASW is a stupid crutch and I despite developers who operate thinking "this is fine"
pimax 8k x is out there for sure, I have a 5k super that can run up to 180hz which is pretty nuts but of course the actual resolution is much lower at that setting
we've been sitting around waiting for the hardware to throw in eye tracking and built-in system-wide foveated rendering for a while and so far only Pimax has really openly revealed any intention to do so (they already do it but DROOLON sucks ass so they're switching to Tobii)
>>411604878
>relying on ASW is a stupid crutch and I despite developers who operate thinking "this is fine"
I don't mind ASW existing or being a fallback, but what I hate is when a game's min specs just assume you'll be riding ASW all day. At the fucking least base the specs around trying to run at 90fps.
Finally getting around to playing HL:Alyx after my VR optician lenses here. So far it blows every other VR game out of the water in terms of presentation and atmosphere. Gameplays a bit slow but still enjoyable.HL2 is way more fun gameplay wise but looks quite dated. I hope someone remakes it in source 2 some day to play that in VR.
Are there any other good campaign VR games that don't feel like slapdash jank tech demos?
>>411604878
I want Pimax to stop shooting themselves in the foot so bad, because they're one of the few people who feel like they're trying to really push VR boundaries on the consumer market, even if that comes with some jank and they sometimes don't stop to ask if they SHOULD do something vs CAN they do something
>>411614252

I'm just picturing FPS games not limiting your max movement within a playspace, and it ends up with some guy running wireless in a warehouse that's physically running around faster than your analog stick lets you move in your living room.
>>411640324
I think if someone can actually do that it's well deserved. Unfortunately I know there are playspace cheats that people do which means games probably block this kind of thing already.

>Umm, sorry PCVR fans, but the money is in making shitty, dumbed down games for Quest 2! Sorry, but it's true!
Fixed the stick drift in my left Quest 2 controller. Turns out there's tiny little metal contacts underneath the analog stick that make contact with the circuit board. These metal contacts start out curved, but as you use your controller, they start to flatten out and don't make as good contact, causing stick drift. Fixing it was as easy as disassembling the controller and bending the contacts into a curve again, but the design is such that I'm only resetting the problem for another year or so.

I don't think so, I think the Rift S/Quest 2 controllers and the Joycon controllers get stick drift for slightly different reasons. Take a look at this, here:
https://youtu.be/mDLT1LdX_ag?t=275
That part of the video shows you the tiny, silver contacts inside the analog stick. I don't know how you could modify those to not start to flatten after prolonged use. With that said, it's still a ridiculously easy fix, just bend them again so they make good contact, but it's just a rinse and repeat solution.

Not at all. The script handling assfucking got in the way of the trigger for absorbing the soul getting activated. I'm sure there I can just find console command to use, but honestly I don't care too much.
Oculus question. Virtual environments have really low resolution textures. Is there any way to increase them? I'm aware of sidequest resolution increasing, but that's for in-game only from my understanding.

Sounds interesting. Any hint?

Index is still the best headset. Some people will say it's not worth it because it's old, but you should look at it like a car. Cars don't get slower with age.
I started playing immortal legacy and the waifus in this are really nice
Are there any other games with waifus like this
Also the fanatical VR bundle for 7.50 which had this game is easily worth it
Vengeful rites is hands down my favorite VR and I have half life alyx
>>411751553
Gal Gun 2 or Resident evil 4 VR.
>>411751853
I have both of those but gal gun 2 is not VR and Ashley is kinda mid
Like is there a list of waifu games that is on the meta store or on steam ?
>>411751960
What do you mean not VR I've played it in VR
>>411751960
>kinda mid
fr no cap?
>>411752507
Well I guess i have the non vr version I haven't installed it but it was the the one that's was on sale
With the most recent bundle it was included in
It came with 3 other games but I can't remember what they were

Any hopes of RE4VR getting ported to PC?
>>411751553
That game was surprisingly fun but I don't know what they were thinking with the cutscenes and QTEs
>>411754632
Doesn't seem very likely. I feel like there's a better shot of getting Capcom's PSVR2 ports for newer RE games than RE4, because the RE4 port is entirely Meta produced.
>>411757069
I'm await being blue-balled by VR-modes of PSVR2 multiplats also being exclusive, as they have in the past with PSVR1.
>superhot is a game where the entire universe is blindingly white
what the fuck were they thinking and why do people not have more of a problem with this
>page 10 over bump limit
>no new thread
So the tranime groomers won, I see
>>411761568
>blinding white
It's a lot of greys, and every surface has some form of material, typically concrete. Never had a problem with the brightness of the game on my Rift CV1, Quest 2, or Pico 4. What headset are you on?
steam REALLY fucking needs to add a separate category of VR reviews for games that have both VR and nonVR modes
you cant fucking tell if a game that supports both is at all good or not for VR mode since 99% of the time 99% of the reviews are for the nonVR mode
>>411761821
i never even bought or played it because i think its just awful visual design and will give me retina AIDS
make a new thread or perish
nevermind I made it myself
