Don't be afraid to try out Mahjong Soul too. It's more or less exactly the same as vrc mahjong. You can play it on PC, phone, and even vr overlay if you're fancy. Tilegun is probably the most user-friendly since it has a bunch of QoL newbie stuff. I'm experimenting with the new v24 update of the Mahjong prefab for Rinshan parlor, too so it finally hopefully has eng/jp toggles. I always tell newfrens the less you know the better and to usually keep hands closed starting out until you reach an intermediate level.

tl;dr discard the cringe tiles, keep the based tiles. It's as truly shrimple as that.

The oculus browser CAN"T correctly display side by side flat images or videos.
For example this is a stereo VR180 video and it has to be distorted, the browser will fix the distortion.
To view flat side-by-side use external apps, such as Virtual Desktop, Skybox, or Mobile VR Station (for images) they can flip the eyes if needed

No, you only have to meet the Quest requirements for the Quest version of the avatar.
You can upload a 60k polys avatar for PC and upload a default poorfag cube for Quest. With even a little bit of optimization work you can make a Good-ranked fallback avatar. Preferably put a big sign over the head so that people know it's a fallback.

Didn't work for me when I tried it, or rather I think we're thinking of completely different solutions. I made what should just be a plain and simple version of my avatar as a Excellent/Good for PC fallback but I couldn't select it /as/ a fallback, despite it filling all criteria as a fallback at first glance. The option is grayed out until you switch to android and get the actual fallback avatar requirements. Then once those are complete you publish it in android mode and then once the API updates you can select it as a fallback in game.

Yeah... you're going to get something unwatchable from using side by side video. Seriously try watching side by side video in vr using the video players that support it. It's absolutely nauseating due to the IPD not matching up and it not respecting your head movements. It would be cool of vrchat had a demo system like quake. For anyone in the future who may come across this baffling issue (and moreso VCC is forced upon people not familiar with it) when converting map projects to VCC, you can't have the actual project folder have any spaces in its name. So if you have the folder name like "I hate niggers 1488" it has to be "I-hate-niggers-1488" "Ihateniggers1488" "I_hate_niggers_1488" for example. If you have a migration copy and also the non-vcc non-migration it follows the same idea; the non-migratiion has to be the same beside the "-Migrated" suffix. This fixed both my generate light issue and upload issue I was having.

Is it okay to let unity set anchor overrides or should I do them manually? Am trying to upload a free avatar from booth with the koyomi shaders it requires, but I'm getting a bad lighting warning.

Got the Pico 4 in today, so far so good. Display resolution is definitely a step up from the Index, although it probably loses a bit with the Virtual Desktop compression. Didn't notice too much though. It did feel slightly lower FOV, but probably higher than the Quest 2. Black levels seem better than the Index, colors seemed fine to me. Not completely sure what I'm going to do for battery or continuous calibration tracker mounting, but that's a issue for another day. On the default battery, it seems to be around a 1:45 battery life when used alongside Virtual Desktop, so you will definitely need an external. Not too different from other standalones I guess. It's definitely lighter than the Index, and better weight distribution than the Quest 2, but has less cushioning than the Index.

The map was made pre-udon and a lot of shit just didn't work right because complex maps were so weird and unpredictable back then. A lot of the stuff we had didn't work, and sometimes you'd fix one thing and it would break another. Two of the DMs were no-shows, we had to scrap one area and had a stand-in for the other. Some of the areas took way longer for the players to compete and they breezed through others.

It was a really scuffy event, which isn't too big a surprise because it was extremely complex. I was happy we did it and everyone who participated seemed to have fun, so that was nice. I'd do a lot different if I were to do it again though.

Hosting stuff is incredibly easy. Making maps is not. Map creation is a pain in the ass and very time consuming.
One of the reasons we have fewer events and less variety in events the past few years is because of the perception that there has to be a high quality custom map that comes along with it.

I think it would be neat if more people stepped up. Right now we have a kinda sparse mix of exploration, mahjong, pypy, workout if that counts?, Chess, and a handful of external non vrc games. There are upwards of 500 active people here and a lot of things are as easy as just dropping a map to do something you like on a weekly basis and dropping a link in thread. Hold a pool night, declare a world hopping run, run a game night....it doesn't really matter as long as we're doing it together and having fun. There is so much cool shit to do in this game behind just laying around drinking and it's obvious that a lot of the older content creators have been getting progressively tired of leaderfagging.

Visuals, story telling, voices – everything is on a best level I could imagine for a vrchat map, only exception – a little overdo on blur sometimes, adjust in vrchat menu for yourself if necessary.
I didn’t include any screenshots of rooms after the first one since I really want you to experience it all, I promise – first impression after seeing each of them is hard to gather with words. Puzzles are relatively hard, but not too much – I’d say 6-7/10. Also – left a hint for the hardest part that is right at the beginning, I don’t know why but that was the case for me.
Best be played solo or by group of 1-4 people, rough playtime – 1 to 3.5 hours.

I blame my poor physical fitness and inability to sleep immediately after vr. Sucks though. You work 9 to 6, get home, eat, get ready for the next day, and then have like 3 hours until bed. 3 hours is more than enough time to play a game in vr but when it takes an additional 3 hours to actually fall asleep after the vr headset has blasted lights into your eyes, it's not. Not only that but the timezone I'm in and the hours my regular NA friends get on make it so their weekday shit ends before I finish work. Then that only leaves friday and saturday nights and sunday day, which is taken up by irl friends wanting to hang out and general chores. I miss my vr bros.

Unless someone plays exclusively standing, there are cases where using the hip bone will cause those issues. I think spine is passable, chest is great, but I prefer neck personally because the focus in a social game is on the face, so I want my lighting to match well enough the area my head is in. Basically the render queue is the order in, well, how stuff is rendered. Since the magnifying glass is a transparent material, the render queue is usually 2500. This differs per shader and I don't know Poi so you'd need to check it. Because both the magnifying glass material and your clothing, which is probably set to the same render queue, are rendered at the same time, this means that anything in front will omit stuff behind it. To fix this, just change the render queue number to be one after this point. For instance here, using standard, both planes are set to 3000 as the render queue. The ball on the left is set to 3001, and the ball on the right is set to 3000. If you want to test this on your model, just make a plane with a transparent material using Poi and fiddle with the number until you get the results you want.
