Yo, was wondering if anyone knew how to get Elite Dangerous working in VR, I followed a short youtube tutorial but (timestamped) at this point, *I* seem to have errors, I looked these up and managed to fix the vJoy error
Now it just tells me "No custom bindings found for ED, using an empty controller list."

It seems like I was wrong about S&S2
I actually had a decent conversation with a Frenchie on the steam discussions and he not only countered my points, but backed it up with evidence.
Turns out the interactions are the same, and there were parts in the first game that you couldn't interact with, Items and draws.
The AI is exactly the same and has always been rough around the edges

Those two were my main gripes with the game and I'm actually glad to be wrong about it.
Now there are still issues,
Inventory is more Finnicky
The Spatial Audio is fucked
Popin is bad
T-Posing Zombies
Broken Zombie Animations
Broken collision around some areas (I had to use a Handrail just to walk up some stairs, not even joking)
Zombies respawning instantly after death.

I'm still gonna hold off until there's been updates to fix those things specifically
And when they are cleared up I'll rebuy it (or least pirate it initially) and give it another try

Bad lighting, no longer being updated as far as I know so it'll be RIP with the Unity 2020/2021 update.
By default it clamps lighting and makes you ignore color. The outlines also have bad aliasing on them for some reason. If someone is using it on their hair you will instantly know because your eyes will hurt if you look at them from a distance.

There's a few options for toon shaders
SCSS is still the best one in my opinion, especially with the latest crosstone update. It's simple, easy to use, has a lot of features if you want them, and it will look good and accurate in practically every map. You may want to make an animation toggle to force your lighting at a specific brightness because some maps have very bad lighting. It's not common anymore, but if you ever end up being way too dark or way too bright just fiddle with the slider ingame and you're good.
Poiyomi is a decent option, it has nice lighting and a massive toolbox of features. Downside is that it comes with Thryeditor which is very invasive and bloated, this may sometimes cause problems in larger Unity projects if you're the type to import a lot of random packages without properly looking at what's in them (such as a friend's avatar that you're helping fix, or random shaders/utilities from Discord and the internet).
Mochie has a few nice shaders including one that can do toony stuff. No experience with this one, some swear by it. Just don't give him Patreon money, he's a crasher skiddie.
There are a few people in /vrg/ that have made their own toon shaders, such as 3, R and the other R. These are okay-ish. They're very much suited to the author's own styles and wishes so they might not be a good fit for you.

Silent is decent at programming but they especially know a lot about the math behind shaders and lighting, and they make it shine in their shaders. That's why I recommend SCSS.

RS here, it's worth it to note the frametime comparisons between shaders. Z made a chart of a few of them, I think, and when I tried, what I learned is that Liltoon and UTS actually both run terrible. Almost every other runs pretty close to, or better than Standard. Liltoon is actually 3x worse than other shaders, and the weird plush lighting it does

Again, I can't actually recommend UTS anymore, even if they did update their shader in response to the looming 2021 update. Outside of being old and broken, Liltoon's devs made a point to completely sabotage it on twitter and that's the main reason every new booth release uses Liltoon. That combined with the "for retards" template system makes that shader an easier, if unoptimized pick.

A lot of the Yakuza talk would come from me since a few people saw Poiyomi tweet about Liltoon approaching them to use their lighting model and the entire thing read like he was being held at gunpoint, even if the idea of having everyone have similar lighting models would ultimately be good. The issue is that the more you go away from standard, the more issues you'll run into developing stuff using that material that works right with everything else. It's standard for a reason.

It takes a seriously mentally ill person just a single perceived slight or bruised ego during a pavlov match to shitpost a general for the rest of the decade, so it inevitably happens.
Report and ignore is the best course of action. Then it's gone within ~5-20min. and most people won't need to have seen it. I always have the thread open but I manually refresh from time to time, so I only very rarely see it because it's deleted already.

Just my 2 cents:
Counter events and drama notwithstanding, OSHA was a better event by a mile because of the low bar of entry and participation.
Anyone could've just slapped on the prefab provided and be able to participate.
EVIL event was more open ended, and therefore had more potential, but given the lack of motivation/skill/time for everyone involved, it's bound to have less participants overall.

I'm not gonna participate in either because I'm a lazy fuck, but that's my thought on it based on my observation and opinions.

i never managed to get traffic working offline, it doesnt seem as simple as installing the mod and joining a server with traffic

you need shutoko AND the traffic, whatever the traffic files were

also the servers with traffic seem to be most if not all of the most populated shutoko servers, with 5-35 players online usually, so i just filter the servers by number of players and the word "shutoko" and join one of the ones at the top and they always have traffic

so maybe you did have traffic installed but just didnt join the right servers

it's very outdated, but it's not wrong either. your pc will run VR, though probably not at 100% of index resolution. More is always better, but in general most of VR vidya will be perfectly playable on your PC.

it's not too bad, most vr games these days are getting 'questified' anyways. I'd consider getting a 5800X 3D if I you want to play vrchat, otherwise it's probably good enough.
