Final standings for last weeks Dirt Rally 2.0 event, no DNFs this time, but some pretty heavy penalties.

980 was barely enough for OG Vive resolution, which was around 1000x1000 per eye, now we are around 1500x1500 to 2500 x 2500 per eye, which is like 2 to 6 times more pixels. You can always downsample though, to get more frames.

Is there a semi-easy way to attach a vive tracker to it to track my head, or should I just bear with it and use the Oculus controllers?

Since the 24 Hours of Nurburgring is happening this weekend, going to try running a version of it in Assetto Corsa tomorrow night at 8PM EDT (roughly 23.5 hours from now).
We'll be running a roughly 24 minute 60x version of the race in GT3 cars.
Server will be up in practice mode until we start, we'll move to qualifying/race mode once enough people have joined.

-Porn (video, Virtamate) - Not everyone prefers it to flat porn but it offers a unique set of pros and cons and is hugely appealing to a lot of people even in current state. As hardware becomes more comfortable and better porn software/footage is made this use case will be even more popular.
-Social games (VRChat, Metaverse) - Very appealing to a small but dedicated group. Social dynamics work better in VR than in flat and many experiences can be enhanced with those social dynamics. It won't appeal to everyone but for most normies this is already important even in current early state. Will be hugely improved with eye/mouth tracking.
-Motion games (Wii successors) - VR is the ultimate form of motion gaming and it finally delivers on the promises of Wii and Kinect. Rhythm, sports and workout games already work very well in VR and they're already good enough for their intended audience. This is a use case with a huge potential for sales here and now and Quest 2 already capitalized on that.
-Flat games with head tracking (cockpit and all other) - At this point it's still debatable whether flat games are better in VR with nothing but basic head tracking but as issues with comfort and image quality are solved it will be a no-brainer that even something like Devil May Cry 5 is better in VR with head tracking on a third person camera and a controller than in flat.
-Full package games with motion controls and flat game quality (VR native AAA/indie) - A category with the biggest potential and the one that's still mostly untapped today. Requires big investment and a large install base of dedicated gamers. As games like Alyx and Lone Echo show, the hardware is already good enough to deliver AAA gaming that's a generation ahead of flat experiences. It's just an issue of funding and install base, maybe that can be resolved by selling VR via the other use cases first.

If I want to use the quest with airlink, how do I do that without unplugging the Index every time? If I try to launch SteamVR it instantly starts the headset and SteamVR won't launch in my Oculus headset.

This one was a particularly fucked engagement. Two heavily kitted guys come over the hill, I pop one and then the mag I checked was full before going out was empty on my reload so I'm just stuck. I loot an aks-74u and charge the guy expecting the worst. He dies, and while I'm checking out the mountain of high tier shit they dropped a scav spawns then a player comes up after I pop the scav. I retreat, completely unarmed.

I started tabor but I don't know where my guns are so I raid with nothing on me and keep dying. I like it so far except how you get pushed on collisions trying to grab things

So I look for a weapon in prison and find a GPU and have to snag a scav for his luty.

I run back to the hill to try and claim the loot and the player's just gone. So I loot and all the time I'm sliding up and down the hill over and over. In the end, backpack full of drum mags, level4 armor, rifle suppressor, and I left an aug on the ground. Probably should have took that to sell. I make it to exfil a much richer man.

4070 or 3080 (12 GB, not 10GB)

I'd probably pick 4070 because nvidia focuses on software updating for latest model and nothing else. Two years from now on, 3080 will be exactly where it is performance-wise, meanwhile 4070 might get some nice framerate boost with new drivers, it might also get some gimmicks you might want (though this one's hard to do for VR, all of DLSS stuff is useless in here). On the other hand, you're not incorrect, 3080 seems to be having a minor advantage over 4070 in flat vidya, as shown here

Having played over 200 hours of into the radius through the early free alpha to today, I have developed a thing I call my stalker sense. It's an innate feeling of danger that often manifests in a feeling of having outstayed my welcome. I haven't figured out what triggers it but I rarely if ever die in tabor. I'm far more at home on island than silo though. Long sight lines, many routes, and most importantly being able to hear shooting from over mountains and inside buildings makes it a very comfortable map to prowl around in.

Quest Pro review time
It's OK, but it sits uncomfortably on my head and the controllers are losing tracking a lot. Maybe it's because my room is kinda dim, but either way it's pretty annoying. Headset keeps tracking just fine.
Looking into using just the headset and then using my index controllers, but now apparently I need to purchase 2 dongles because you can't use the plugged in Index headset as a receiver for the controllers unless you're actually using the Index.
The wireless is nice, the battery life is OK, and airlink is pretty free of quality and latency issues when you setup your wifi correctly. The eye and face tracking works pretty well, but if you have to restart airlink for any reason the eye tracking app stops working and I have to restart EVERYTHING.

Overall 7/10, wish I had bought a Vive Pro Eye or HP Reverb G2 Omnicept instead. The store I bought the Quest Pro from excludes VR headsets from the 14 day return policy because of "hygiene".

The main problem is likely that you're trying to react to players you see rather than predicting where they will be. Early in the game they're moving away from spawn points towards points of interest. Mid game they will be in points of interest or moving between them. Late, they will be moving towards extraction points. Any gun fire you hear means a player is in that area because AI don't shoot at each other. Certain sounds are only made by players, while AI footsteps tend to repeat in a pattern. Whenever you move you have to consider where someone is likely to be, or to watch you from. People don't tend to just idle in a corner making no sound at all for 20 minutes because that's fucking shit to do in VR, so there's not a lot of unpredictability when you know the map.
