Turns out there is something off about Koikatsu's skeleton that makes the tracking inaccurate. Not event talking about elongated and lanky proportions - It feels like the leg bones are slightly rotated.

Let me give you my review on the Quest Pro
The tracking is subpar and the controllers lose tracking literally all the time, apparently a recent firmware update completely fucked them up.
The headset fits uncomfortably on your head because there is no top strap, it's side straps only. All the weight is on your forehead. Mic quality is actual garbage. "Headphone" quality is OK.
The eye tracking is in discrete "steps" and is not a fluent left/right and up/down kinda deal. I couldn't get the face tracking to work but that's also because the straps just do not fit my head at all. Third party straps like a deluxe strap aren't being made because it's a niche headset and there's some electronics or a battery embedded in the strap.

And on top of all that, I still have to deal with worse picture quality and increased latency compared to my Index, as well as having to deal with tracking universe drift if I want to use fullbody or use finger-tracked controllers. I'll gladly stick to my Index any day of the week.

did you try with a cable? the wireless is awful if you don't have everything working. my wireless is like you describe but over usb I only notice compression on far away stuff and it just looks like slight blurring

I bought a link cable actually, but it slipped out incredibly easily so I stuck with wireless. If I have to go through this many steps of DIY to get the headset to function on par with an index, I would rather just get an index.
Tracker on the back makes it uncomfortable/impossible to lay down. I'm not a VR sleeper by any means but to me that's an important thing.
I spent hours fiddling with the straps and the adjustments but I just couldn't get it to fit on my head properly. By adjusting the back adjustment wheel I could either have all the weight on my forehead, or have the headset so loose that it felt like slipping off if I bent down. My CV1 didn't like my head shape either, so either I'm an alien or the people at Oculus/Meta are.

I've seen people make the Quest Pro work, but for $1200 it was an immense disappointment. At that point I wonder if you can't just get an Index and get different lenses for it if that's the big "thing".

Anyone tried that GTAV VR mod? Seems kinda half assed, is it worth the hassle?

Finally finished Lone Echo 2, actually ended up being very nice. Performance issues mostly went away as I started to reboot my PC before each play session, and I had the fan patch installed. The one issue that stayed was the loading screens popping up in the open hub as you fly from one asteroid cluster to another. Game clearly can't load the world fast enough, and I'm on SSD. Ended up being 12.5 hours long with me clearing most but not all the side quests.

the vr locomotion is good, every option that should be there is there, no common bugbears

Ignore this. Half the people who say this are unwittingly using its features, thinking it's part of the default toolset.
You shouldn't decimate with CATS though. You can apply the Decimate modifier to individual meshes manually and apply them. Just split up the thing you want to decimate into its own mesh.
Dissolving edge loops manually is better, but it's slower.

I have played the game for 5 and a half years. The netcode is unbelievably broken and feels like cheating when you are favored by it. You don't even have to aim because the server just allows your near misses as hits, enemies can barely damage you because they're artificially lagging behind and when they return fire, the server ignores it. If you get the opposite it's the most frustrating experience imaginable and impossible to overcome no matter how good at the game you are. There's usually one random player who has the extreme good end, one with the extreme bad end, with the rest in the middle. The names of people in the server seems to affect who gets what. I've compared clips of different players before and there's can be hundreds of milliseconds of unexplained time differences between perspectives.

It's an interesting place with it's own mid sized ecosystem. As far as vrc communities go it's one of the more interesting if you can get past the weird internal politics that have developed over time. Decent number of one off events and tons of weekly type events and once you're acquainted there is stuff going on almost every day of the week and the weekends are monstrously busy with people from here holding a majority in usually at least 3-4 20+ man instances. We are also generally fairly booth elitist similar to the jp. There is pretty much no timezone or day of week I can get on where I don't have people from here around outside of maybe SEA weekdays.
