https://files.catbox.moe/y3wafz.mp4
>be me
>limited mental capacity apparently, gotta distribute it right
>ignoring most of the calls, feels like a noise to me unless it's number+direction
>dude calls "slow" shortly before an incline
>admittedly a good call, but it's not a number+direction
>"middle of the crest" noise afterwards
>"thirty turn"(?)
>approaching the very peak of the incline
>one left btw lol

God i hate DR2 co-driver system. I mean, this one is entirely on me, should've slammed on the brakes when he said "slow" - but I remember clearly more than one situation where a stage has too many turns one after another, and then dude simply lags behind, even if you'll set calls to come to you considerably early. Sometimes dude just has too much to say and then he calls previous corner when you're already one-two corners in front of what he calls. I think easiest example to find would be this colin mcrae career mode, I remember that was the worst offender in that regard.

But hey, it's rally cars doing rally things in a nice online event, can't say I didn't have fun in there. Finland sure is tough tho.

I miss messing around with my harmless mods. It was fun to throw people around who had Limb Grabber installed. The ability to see that someone timed out on the network prevented a lot of 45-second-long awkward situations and silences.
It was also nice to have an Avatar Hider that actually disabled people's animators because that's one of the main sources of lag in big instances. Publics are still fine but crashers are more of a threat without Advanced Safety, and it shows.
But it's okay, it showed some of the newfags how careless and boneheaded the VRC devs can be. Hopefully that growing resentment will help them get over their stockholm syndrome for the devteam the next time they do something unimaginably stupid (and they will, trust me).

It definitely kind-of exposed that most people in favor of EAC were /trash/ coomers who got butthurt over mods, like B's "toggle other people's parameters" mod.

It blew over and everyone returned, just as they (VRChat) probably predicted. We got more dev updates now which I guess is a good thing.
That being said though, having had a chance to recently hear from one of the VRChat devs euan talk about it a month or two ago when he was in a late night /vrg/ instance and people were asking him questions, it really feels like VRChat themselves still learned nothing from the fiasco. The dev insisted that they "had to" do it this way, there was no other option except for blindsiding the community with a 24 hour notice and breaking everyone's trust.
I still haven't resubbed to VRC+. I'll play their game but I'm not paying another cent in support. Too bad CVR never took off, the threat of actual competition made them work for once.

>We got more dev updates now which I guess is a good thing.
We had a few, but they clearly slowed down and went back to their usual glacial pace after they implemented a few mod features *once*.
So right now we have a few new features that people have been asking for for years, and almost all those features are based on the top #10 most popular mods at that current time. We're not going to get anything like that again. Any new interesting ideas that would have popped up, or any problems that might arise in the future, will now no longer have mods to do them.

Almost everyone I know has stopped buying VRC+ at the very least, but ultimately most of their money comes from investors and the majority of people outside /vrg/ are clueless goyslop consumers who just think "oh sweet hackers are gone now", so it's not really hurting them all that much.
Dot was back within 3 days so ultimately EAC was pointless in stopping the malicious skiddies, it just made life worse for people who used mods in legitimate and non-malicious ways. I don't doubt that they did this either because Ron was butthurt or because they fear it might threaten the "economy" system that they're working on.

It sounds extremely weird for them to take an increasingly aggressive stance on lewd content when they are "supposedly" doing the opposite.

But also, slightly worse overall performance, unironic chinese malware. It really stuck out to me the contrary reactions of this general though. Source? Performance actually got better and then worse, because avatar hider used to turn off people's Animators (a very big CPU hog) but they are now kept enabled because a lot of TDA's and brainlets relied on broken behavior and write defaults.
At this point VRChat should just re-enforce the animator being disabled and provide better tools in the SDK to fix write-defaults animator controllers. VRCFury can do it with 99.999% accuracy in a free tool, why can't the devs?

Not having 50 people with mishmashed client features causing issues on the network is one way. Melonloader is garbageware that hogs resources much more than EAC does, and the performance mods people used were just enough to bring performance back to normal. It's just people have confirmation bias whent hey're already running melonloader so they think that's just how vrc runs. Yeah, CVR doesn't have investors to please, they only have users. As it should be.
VRC can shit the bed as much as they want (as they have in the past), but as long as the investor money keeps rolling in, and as long as they keep the majority of their playerbase, they could quite literally piss on their userbase and nothing would change.
CVR ironed out a lot of their kinks (especially with this latest update) and as soon as we get first-class scripting for worlds and stuff I imagine that it would be a viable alternative for people to jump to if VRC stops being playable. The point when VRC gets actual competitors is when VRC loses their safety net.

The difference is always super jarring whenever a portal is dropped from an SDK3 world to an SDK2 one. As soon as the Udon bloat is gone everyone is magically back to 45 or even 90 FPS, no matter how many laggy realtime lights or bad collider setups the world seems to have.

It's a stopgap solution. Hiding avatars from a distance is essentially just letting users take away features in favor of performance, but that's not really an optimization, it's more like taking an axe to the problem and cutting off a limb to prevent it from infecting the rest of the body.
The fact that avatar hider is basically needed right now is a big minus point for immersion and overall interaction with people, and it hurts funny avatar gimmicks.
>>439446209
Yes it does, it means that if VRC shits the bed we won't be left exclusively with something as terrible as Neos VR.
Just to name an example, when digg became unusable in the 2000's a lot of the trannies moved to reddit instead. They would not have been ABLE to do that if reddit didn't exist. They would have to find another type of website to use entirely.
If VRC died off in 2018 we wouldn't be playing social VR games, we would be playing flat games and sitting in Discord (more so than usual),, with a small group of autists playing games like Pavlov (which would have less traction because VRC is responsible for the sale of tons of headsets). If VRC dies off today we can just play CVR instead. It's a better outcome.

I'm not saying people will mass-migrate to CVR as soon as it becomes on par with VRC.

The reason CVR didn't blow up is because they dropped the ball. Conditions were absolutely primed for a VRC exodus, but CVR didn't have the networking solutions in place. If an explosive event like EAC happened again today in VRC, you can bet money on the fact that many people would move if a good alternative exists. If CVR can handle the server loads this time then that would revive the game instantly.

It's not just an issue of user content, it's also just the game hogging more of the CPU by virtue of Udon just existing in worlds now. Just the act of making an SDK3 world instead of an SDK2 one eats up a ridiculous amount of CPU cycles.
Can you imagine a world on the scale of old Luxerion World being made today in Udon? It wouldn't function. The Hidden Heights map can't even have a pool table, swimming pool, hot tub and a climbing wall without dropping people to 30FPS.
On a related note Luxerion World is now softcapped to 8 players instead of 30 because the world author cited performance and networking problems that did not exist in early 2019

It didn't stand any chance because the game has no playerbase, with or without /vrg/. It's also still years behind development compared to VRChat. Discord had nothing to do with people not wanting to move. The game had problems even running its servers, and by the time it was fixed there was (and still is) only 50-75 people playing.

VRC started with a tiny playerbase too, and look where they are at now. All CVR needs to do is offer features that VRC simply doesn't have and won't have, like props and more immersive experiences. Tiny attention to detail like being able to pull out a camera with a gesture. They won't succeed by just being a VRC clone, but they aren't going in the same direction as VRC.

Not many people stayed, due to the server issues and CVR being rough around the edges (especially in the voice department and lack of scripting).
Even despite the fact that CVR was broken as shit, they went from averaging 5 players to averaging 100. They absolutely would have had at least 10x more if the game worked at the time.

One that leaves enough of an impression on the people who tried it that they become more vocally critical of the VRC devs or willing to try CVR again in the future. Working servers and some exclusive features could have done that.

No one stuck around cvr because, now bear with me here, none of the people that swore to move over have any amount of social clout, and I mean this as nicely as possible. It doesn't matter how many nice things or negative things were said about CVR, VRC, or even the VCR, people aren't going to move because someone who already isn't widely well regarded said so. It's just how things work. You can blame the scary discord trannies all you want, but the simple fact is you didn't have the pull. If you genuinely believe it was contrarian to not want to move to CVR, you are beyond help.

The "My friends aren't in CVR" effect is basically 99% of it. The technical hurdle of getting avatars in was not very high, and if their friends were there waiting for them would be overcome, just like how dealing with VRC's avatar bullshit is overcome for shit people want to do in VRC. The friends effect is the overriding force; and the EAC outcry was the opportunity to move entire groups across but CVR couldn't handle it due to bad timing.
That's all, there's no conspiracy.

Nice argument pall, last time I checked though this is called /vrg/. It is a VR general, getting annoyed at what was once a huge pool of people willing to try new things being demoted to mouthbreathing socially compliant retards who would rather post in discord then here is a legitimate annoyance. Call people an army or whathave you, but expecting a general based around a hobby or game to have fans of the subjects is a given. When you see people encourage VR and watch outsiders discourage it, its a special kind of annoyance.

Yep, I am willing to accept your opinion, and get this, that is my opinion too. I am annoyed that the dying flames of a shitty discord that hijacked /vrg/ for a few years used its last bit of influence to denounce a decent alternative. Wasn't people in particular, an entire game. People were really cagey because they could see the grip loosing, so they were flexing left and right. I gave it a chance long past that too. But by that point only a small amount of furries, dev-circlejerks, and other idiots were the only ones left if we weren't having a meetup. And even then the meetups would end up overrun with those groups. I liked the idea of props and still to this day feel like it adds a lot more chaos and emergent interactions rather than being stuck with just avatar/world functionality. Just spawning in a video player was really neat. Although the fact that there wasn't really an udon-equivalent meant that worlds were not very dynamic, which kind of takes away from it a bit. Having a couple more third-party Unity components whitelisted was very nice for extra functionality, like cars and cloth physics. The fact that the game was moddable was nice, but honestly other than third person on desktop I don't know of too many "must-have" mods that were made. The reason I don't play it anymore is even though a couple of people I would want to hang out with are still there, the majority of people I hang out with on social VR are all on VRChat. I'm not sure what they can add that would make me come back. I think I would need there to be a larger playerbase regardless before I settled down playing CVR again.

I remember complaining about the IK and being told that it would get better. I also remember disconnecting or crashing about 4 times in the half hour I attempted to play. I'm extremely picky about IK.

I like the idea of CVR and I want VRC to have competition, but it just wasn't ready at the time. Like another anon said, maybe next time. VRC is likely to screw up again in the future.

I think the main reasons CVR didn't take off (and this has nothing to do with /vrg/:
>Poor relaunch (servers literally didn't work for weeks during the EAC fiasco). When the servers did work they were already down to 150-200 players a day, and slowly declining back towards 30-50 from there. If they could have retained that 200 number, I think they could have had growth. But the game just wasn't mature enough to retain people wasn't the VRC EAC stuff blew over.
>Missing features compared to VRC (audio quality, IK quality, udon interactivity)
>Not enough exclusive features (Mostly just props and extra third-party whitelists)
>Less content in general because it's newer and has a smaller playerbase
>People simply don't like learning a new SDK, no matter how easy or alike it is from what they're used to.
>Remaining players are mostly furries, which turns off most other new players at this point.
>"My friends aren't there" is going to be the main reason people don't go now, even though this is circular logic.

Threadly reminder that this weekend (Saturday or Sunday, TBA) at 9PM GMT a /vrg/ squadron will sortie in IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad on Wings of Liberty server in all of the gimped VR glory.

Dust off your HOTAS, reinstall your game, configure your controls for comfy VR siming. Disable bloom in startup.cfg if you have HDR enabled and don't be afraid to leave things on higher settings than usual, IL-2 is well optimised.
WoL is pretty laidback and active dogfight server with decent custom missions and nobody will be angered by bunch of retards that can barely taxi to runway bumbling around. Mumble or Steam groupchat will be used for comms so sort that out.

I think this is just a symptom of NA because every time I find myself in an NA instance people are half-naked. EU and early NA instances have been proper lately and I don't really log in for west coast NA anymore.

The problem isn't new content. They've added barely anything for months. This was meant to be a major patch but it added almost nothing. The coder(s) clearly aren't good enough at C++ so they can't change anything without breaking something else. It's probably mostly visual scripting so they can't even begin to fix it. And that's just the people hosting instances that I grabbed out of my logs for like the past month. I didn't even list the halo people and didn't even list the amount of people who join these instances but don't host them. The "everyone is a trashfag" argument holds no water when a trash meet usually has around 40 visitors in a community with hundreds of people in it.
I peeked into the current trash thread (big mistake) and there's only like 60 IP's there.
It's very easy to see your own friend groups, your own circles, and then assume that they are the center of the community and that the rest of the community is the same. Trashfags are a blight and too plentiful, but they are not even close to being a majority.

So basically, you're a coomer?
If you aren't a coomer, you only have vague notions of who fucks and you don't have anyone at all that you have fucked.

Should it be surprising that most of the people you know are also coomers?

but i made the mistake of investing fully in boom and zoom planes only for it to be near fucking impossible for me to actually kill anyone BnZing in the simulation mode mostly due to it being near impossible to identify friendly from foe before wasting a ton of energy diving and chasing after them while the normal planes have the maneuverability and speed to get close to everyone and check if they're friendly or not

Depends on what you're looking for. H3 has the most autistic guns but terrible controls, enemies, gameplay, and won't ever really go anywhere other than being a sandbox. Bonelab is getting pretty crazy with the modding scene now but it's primarily a physics sandbox more so than a gun autism game. Pavlov is the most alive multiplayer arcade vr shooter but has very streamlined gun interactions (a good thing for that niche of the vrfps genre). Tabor is very jank and in active, quite fast, development but it's basically just tarkov with less content and is very shallow on the gun autism, especially compared to tarkov. Into the radius is still the reigning king of single player vrfps adventure game though it's more adventure and less gun autism. You can candycane load your mags if you want in that game though.

tl;dr: H3 is probably the only pure gun simulator autism game for vr but that's all it is.

H3VR has lots of good mods and the controls and gameplay are fine. The main downside is the enemies aren't as satisfying as real people but it's the most fun with guns in my opinion.

I mean there's nothing wrong with doing Friday events but I think it's a bit better to do them on Saturdays for a number of reasons.

I'd say the majority of events have indeed been hosted on Fridays over the years. Maybe like a 65%/35% split between Fridays and Saturdays.

Friday might be a good day for the cowboy event because it appears to just be a show up and take a group photo event.
Saturday is better for any event that involves people doing an activity because people just want to hang out on Fridays.

Also, attendance on avatar events is a little bit of a double edged sword. Really, you want people who cared enough to make an avatar to show up and you want people who didn't to not. It's one of my pet peeves when people show up to an avatar event without an avatar and expect to be in the photo.

Fridays has been gaming.
Saturdays has been for events.
That's how it's always been since big events became normalized in 2019.
In 2018 we had lots of small bi-monthly dressup theme events but it was more a the "event" lasts 2 weeks with first week people making the clothing, quick people have it ready by the first weekend, the actual "event" so meetups at theme appropriate maps start friday night of the second and final weekend and the photo shoots/group photos are saturday night of the final weekend.
Big events that go beyond a theme so things like valentines, prom, dance nights, etc; are all Saturday night.
Friday night is usually for drunk pavlov or other pre-vrchat vr gaming.

That's exactly why Fridays are not ideal for a lot of people. For me, it's the busiest day of the week, and I'm tired in the evenings, especially when an event only starts around midnight or other godforsaken time. Other people might have to work on Saturday and need the sleep.
Generally, Saturdays would be much better.

friday night drunk pavlov was born from the daily pavlov then alternating daily pavlov/contractors of early 2019
it came a weekly thing after people became exhausted then it died then was resurrected again late 2019 with the h***a 40 person server every friday night before meetup
it wasn't initially drunk only but most of vrg back then was in it every friday night and most of vrg were alcoholics so htey were drinking
drunk pavlov was born from the drinkers complaining it was too sweaty and it dying because the drinkers stopped coming

Drunk pavlov is before you you just think it started after you joined because you joined when it was going through one of it's many death and reborn cycles.

People are complaining now because it's changed and a Saturday night event had the convenience of letting wagies prepare for the event Saturday day.
Friday night means waggies end work, commute, get home, eat, prepare for vr then it's either drunk VR for some then event or have maybe 2 hours of time to get your avatar in order if it needs it then event.

Australia and EU are ahead of NA timezones.
The AU is the smallest, EU is the second largest and NA is the largest.
So doing it in the order of smallest to largest the AU can be the beta test of the event. EU is the refined version of the event and NA is the final product.

But yea to be honest nobody actually gives a shit about vrg anymore or trying to make big unique events like we used to or getting the most out of VR and the vrg community.
I really don't know why I care so much to argue this much.

You can take a photo of an actual human, even a male one, and a good modeller will be able to tell you how to get from one to the other within 9 steps.

The Jingo cunny and Tda Append Miku don't look alike enough to bring it up compared to any other 2020s anime girl.

Sigh it's time to post this again to prep people up and PROVE ANON WRONG

:: VRGUCCI - /vrg/ Fashion Event | August 26, 2023 ::

Anon has insulted us for the last time. Help prove shitposter kun WRONG.
Create or mix and match the best booth clothes together that will make you and your avatar base shine.
Walk along the fashion run way with some of the best of /vrg/'s fashionistas.

Bring home a video and pictures of your creation for a fun time to remember.
This will unveil our new systems to ensure you will have something to look fondly over after the event.
Come and rub shoulders with anons who are serious about having fun with their clothing choices to look glamorous, cute and presentable.

Coming AUGUST 26, 2023

P.S. Any Fashion works as long as it's an avatar that you think you can use on the daily and be presentable in meetups/public. To wow and bedazzle from your good looks and fashion
P.S.S. Any combination of booths, MMDS, Vroid, from scratch, gamerip any 3dmodel allowed. Only thing not allowed are those with no edits (ex. base unedited kikyo). It needs to be a combo.

so... it's just a single vibration motor?
I don't get how it's that special
bHaptics gear has been around forever
although maybe it's communicating directly with the device over osc?
with bHaptics I have to run their stupid app on my pc to connect bluetooth
and then a second program that translates stuff to OSC

Chinkshit review of Jack 3.5 + USB PD adapters from left to right:
2$ PD doesn't work or when it seems to work it barely passes any current.
2$ No DAC, just werks. I'm not getting hearing any interferences when using a battery bank with it but I can't guarantee it doesn't happen.
9$ Decent chip inside, but signal processing adds a lot of latency for rythm games. However lets you boost the volume to ear raping levels so that's kinda nice. Overheats a lot. Could see it fail in a few days.
4$ No big issues beside having a shitty form factor that doesn't really play nice when plugged in a VR headset.

In the end I'm using the second one because it's smol.

G here.

Man trying to catchup leaders in rally makes me drive and the edge of my seat.

MAN ITS FAST, but small mistake and you are spinning out catastrophically and loose 30 seconds.

In the first stage I was actually winning by 10 seconds for once but then didn't break early enough for "slow" and hit an ambulance: 40 SECONDS PENALTY.

Third stage was tough with all the jumps, and I was too scaredso lost 30 seconds there... And then trying to pick up the pace in stage 5 landed badly from a jump, spun out and lost a tire: ~30 seconds too slow overall...

If not 2 small errors could been a whole minute faster. ;_:

Yeah, the penalties add up fast. A couple small errors probably cost me first place.

just block it on your firewall, Pico does not need internet connection at all. It's also rootable and you get full android access.

You need internet access on the latest firmware. They pushed some verification system where even sideloading random APK you need to be online to get a token from their servers otherwise you get booted off with an error message.

Its the only way such companies can make profits; sell customer data to advertisers. A shame for them, that demographic, monetary and economic reality is going to pop that bubble rather sooner than later

and how else would they make profits? The margins on the hardware are never going to cover the costs of production.

Meta was actually breaking even on the Quest 2 after they raised prices, and according to Carmack, the price increase was done so they wouldn't have to care what you did with the headset.

And are they gathering the data anyway? Yes, Are they trying to sell it to advertisers? Certainly they do. Is the demand by a scamdustry like the advertising industry that literally only lived for 15 years from low interest rates declining? Hell yes. And that is beside the changing demographic and saturated market. The only question that remains is, when do gamblers realize they are donating capital to a black hole buying meta and other tech scam ponzi papers
