Man, if I could trade the clarity sweetspot of pancakes for vignette-free lenses, I would. Taking a trip back to the Quest2 feels like a whole different world, just a shame about the FoV situation.
Fresnels and aspherics are equally clear if you just wear the headset right, dial in that sweetspot and you're golden.
The vignetting situation is, arguably, even worse, since there is no sweetspot where you have no vignetting.
It does get a bit better as you get closer, but the larger lenses prevent this ( another problem uOLED solves ), and you can forget about moving the headset down a bit to not rest on your eyebrows because surprise surprise, even more vignetting.
I'm honestly surprised they would release a product (Quest3) in this state, but given how most reviewers don't even mention the issue, I guess they judged the average consumer correctly.

The further you are from the lenses the more noticable it is but there seems to be other factors. In a regular game the vignette is clearly visible on the outer 1/4 of each lense from outside the headset but when I put it on and get as close to the lenses as possible I only notice it at the edges of the FoV where the darkest part was.
Distance from lenses, IPD and the relative acuity of your eyes probably all effect how visible and tolerable it is.

5) delete the bottom half of your avatar

As far as rotation is concerned it's only 90 degree angles. The actual positions are what gets me. Honestly the hardest part is overcoming all those slight movements you do to compensate for your other body parts' momentum. As for non-manlets it's looking down that stops them from being able to cast anything.

There's no offical MP (janky modded only) and even within the NPCs and the Take and Hold + modded gamemodes you just have these dumb hotdogs to shoot that aren't extremely invigorating. Unfortunately the multiplayer mod is really only for playing with friends, in my experience I had to use hamachi and some other stuff to be able to make lobbies that I can play with friends in. depends on what sort of gun 'tism you have. pavlov does counterstrike-style best (and ww2 and maybe TTT if you're into that), regular contractors does cawadooty-style (+mods for tf2 and halo and others), and contractors showdown has both an ok battle royale and a tarkov-style "exfil zone" mode that's pretty good despite being in alpha. I also like breachers a lot, and hyperdash is free quake/UT-feeling arena shooter. I think they're all populated enough in MP that you can get matches pretty fast, though you will suffer squeakers in public lobbies.

SteamID's are fine. For setting things up though usually what we do is posting a game lobby by talking about when we'll login and then we can chat about specific in-game stuff during that game lobby.

As for getting better I'm more of a Breachers guy rather than Pavlov. But to get better some basics is training your arm stretched aim where you instantly place your gun from below then raise it up for scope and tragetting your enemy. The more you train your muscle memory on where you usually end up when you raise your gun to aim from rest the better you will be.

Pico ultra have interesting features for productivity, namely better passthrough, it's windows system, phone mirroring. However if you are used to hand tracking for productivity, then it might be frustating compared to q3.

Yes, the biggest meme of the bigmeme is the custom 3d scan face gasket and the individual SKUs for each `mm increment of IPD. It's unfortunately hit or miss though, both the gasket and the IPD sizing; you can test to see if it's right by lining up the headset with one eye till it's perfectly clear, then lining up the other eye, and seeing how much you have to move it. In my case even my actual IPD (63.5mm) was too wide so I have the 63mm IPD bigmeme, but it works better than the 63 did, for whatever reasons.

Their support email is responsive if you say you think it's blurry and you want to try a 1mm IPD wider or narrower, or that the gasket doesn't fit right (I did both) but it still takes a round of RMA shipping and like a week; if you don't want to fuck with that you basically get one dice roll when you first order.

I wish they had made the headset a few grams heavier and put a mechanical IPD adjust in it honestly. Hopefully their next headset releasing in 2 weeks fixes that.

also the gasket scan can be too thick or misshapen. One sort of nice thing is if you have a 3d printer, there are a lot of alternate gaskets and stuff you can find for the bigmeme, including an adapter for the index headstrap and speakers. FWIW I have their official audio strap and while it is okay enough that I use it daily, it is definitely worse than the index speakers. I've tried printing a few alternate straps but I've gotten lazy lately and just live with their audio strap.

but with upscaling that doesnt necissarily matter right. like i could upscale from the same resolution as what the index does natively and that wouldnt come out looking extra blurry or washed out would it? or does it, because if you upscale on a monitor without perfect pixel ratio it can fuck the image up a lot

i never even thought of that. you can just remove that from the index and put it on the bigscreen

Walkabout will be fine. Pavlov, DCS, WRC, are edging 12 gigs of vram at 3000x3000+ per eye, often going over without downsampling which imediately kills fps.

your local library might have some to use for free + price of filament. there are a lot of services online that'll print whatever for you too though, and sometimes easier than fiddling with all the slicer settings if you don't have the autism for that.
