I added a portable .exe download and small GUI to my bike head VR thing, so if you didn't want to run the command line version before, you can try it out more easily now. If you weren't around for the previous posts, it's a steamvr overlay that essentially holds the joystick forwards for you, so you can pedal around any vrchat world on a stationary bike without having to awkwardly hold controllers and the handlebars. It should also work with treadmills, though I don't have one to test with.

In vr its not the "instant response time" really what matters for good quality, but illumination time. A single frame must be strobed as short as possible or you get motion blur. Most headset except a few like AVP and BSB have strobed displays and motion to photon times at around 40 ms (on headset rendering or display port connected, wireless is higher). Long on times, long strobe durations are perceived brighter, but any head movement/eye movements (which are unavoidable in VR) smears the picture.

I dunno why anyone thinks Frame will have special "low latency" displays. All decent vr headsets have no problems with display response times, there is no special magic about it. Yes, just fast lcds, or bright enough oleds which dont need to be sample and held but strobed like any other headset...

that thread doesn't need to communicate, it takes the input in the beginning and produces the output, this is what they call trivially parallelizable workload, it doesn't get any better, literally the best case scenario for dual ccd

But thanks to short strobing times, even when your head/eyes move in reference to the screens you get SHARP individual frames. Yes, in real life eyes blur things, but also can stabilize your head tremors. You eyes cannot stabilize well on sample and hold HMDs. Eyes can automatically compensate the head movement, so with sample and hold HMD your sight will skip over a few pixels, making everything blurrier than it should.
