Any interest in a sports/fitness event for May, say the 2nd? A lot of people already have some sort of sports or fitness wear or would otherwise be able to get some easy stuff off booth. For booth avatars haven't really found any that would really fit this tiny aesthetic very well. Have kind of looked at the augmented dolls model since that could be a fun gimmick but otherwise haven't had luck with anything else.

What is this?
A celebration of anon’s varied groups and activities.
For one day /vrg/ turns into a full blown school festival, with rooms, booths, attractions and little corners of chaos all hosted by the different groups and friend circles around the community.

Come wander the grounds and visit what anons have cooked up.
Games, exhibits, hangouts, performances, themed rooms, comfy spots, weird ideas, good ideas, dumb ideas made real.
The whole point is to let every part of /vrg/ show its face and make something fun for everyone else to enjoy.

If you’ve ever wanted to host something, decorate a room, run a booth, make a club attraction, show off your group’s gimmick or just contribute to the general festival atmosphere, this is the event for it.
Big or tiny projects, polished or scuffed projects, they all have a place in a school festival.

This is both a social event and a showcase.
A chance to see what all the different corners of /vrg/ are up to, meet people you don’t normally bump into and enjoy an entire map full of anon-made activities all in one place.

Specially if you are currently or have hosted weekly/monthly/occassional events before and currently!
COME AND SHILL, Grow your club, Entice another anon to try what you love doing!

So I finally managed to get vrchat to work on nixos. Since it's current month I did this by basically giving claude code root access until it worked. It reads the journal logs, restarts services, edits the nixos config, pulls the monado source so it can make some apparently necessary patches to fix the distortion mesh on the bigmeme2, overlays that on the regular monado nixpkg so it builds and symlinks, scrapes through all the slightly contradicting information on the linux vr adventures wiki and the monado issue tracker itself, and reads the one other furry's that uses VR with nixos/home-manager and publishes their config repo to find the other weird bits you need. Only thing I didn't do was literal root access, so I ran the sudo rebuilds myself (could've setup nopasswd but I am lazy in various hypocritcal ways). Working setup: vrchat in proton-ge-rtsp-bin talking to xrizer openvr talking to monado openxr (with patch) with the proprietary steam_lh tracking backend (libsurvive almost worked but was jittery). I will maybe try and upstream the patches.

Despite this deep deep hole of self-inflicted autism, it does actually work quite well. Better than I was expecting even. Full framerate/resolution (on 4090) in a crowded instance, audio/voice worked fine, no screen tearing or tracking loss. Video players and yt-dlp in another world also just werked. Didn't try FBT with tundra trackers but will later. wayvr with sway also worked. And I did actually follow along while it was debugging, so I have a much better understanding of whole horrifying linux VR software stack now. Probably not as deep as if I had actually done everything manually, but way way faster.

Most of those games look exactly the same on both PC and standalone anyway, not surprising considering how old they are. Basically nobody tests Linux builds of PCVR stuff and it's often full of VS projects bullshit, best case scenario Windows binary will work in WINE but more likely than not it won't and often the PC version is just reverse engineered port of Android port of some ancient flat port.

Got me a Pico 4 ultra. It's my first time entering into the world of VR and it's fun af. I only planned to use it for watching movies and it's already worth it. Some of the 3D movies feel incredibly 3Dish like the first avatar and pacific rim. You can really feel the effects in those, some other movies aren't so great with the 3D. Even 2D flicks are great. Watching LOTR in 4k on the big screen is just pure kino. And honestly, I'm glad I didn't enter VR way back when it first came out, because at least the features and optimisation seems to be really solid now. Next I'm gonna try out Skyrim VR.

It's melee physics arena fighter with hilarious voxel violence, you can freely dismember your enemies and likewise they can dismember you so sometimes you'll be stuck fighting with only one arm or hopping around on one leg black knight style. Base structure of game is arena gauntlets where you fight bunch of enemies, get upgrades and new weapons between stages and then ultimately move to boss you chose to fight in elimination bracket. There are dozens of different weapons and enemies, AI is somewhat competent so you can't entirely cheese it and arenas are really cool looking with enviromental hazards. Best way to describe the game in single phrase would be "futuristic GORN with voxels". Story is convoluted time travel/past-present-future memory lapse deal but apparently it is tied to the previous flat game in the series.

Roguelike physics arena fighter that takes advantage from the voxel graphics to simulate every voxel. You can make pixel perfect cuts to the enemies and the environment, everything is simulated.

I hate 99% of the physics arena fighters because they are retarded and only simulate 10% of the physics, you need to pretend for the other 90%. This game simulates 100%, it's a very unique experience.

As far as we know, merlin got shafted from the vrc dev team, but soba was supposedly still going to be developed. Even though at this point have little to no hopes for this.
Still I'm in no rush for developing something again anyway, it's just that Udon is very inconvenient on some aspects (vm performance, unexpected behaviours like hiddenininspector public variables ignoring their initial values, no enums, no 2-dimensional arrays, ...). For something like Shogi it's manageable, but doing Mahjong yaku verifications with udon's limitations sounds like absolute pain

I bought it on release but there was a bug where the camera and character controllers were locked to 60hz so it felt like shit to play. It's been patched since but I just kinda forgot about the game.
The characters, humor and art style were very nice from the half hour I put into it from what I remember.
