Do you have cats tool in blender? There's an option in there to merge bones to parents. Very handy. Maybe not the neatest solution, but depending on what, it works.

Also protip, use that distance disable setting on the dynamic bone script. But realize that the default amount is the size of most average maps. Make it something smaller. I use something like 5 for stuff. Dynamic bones only really need to be enabled for people close to you

There's multiple issues with any option you take:
- If, for example, you wanna use the audio broadcast zone or voice amplification: the issue is that you will have to move around every once in a while for late joiners because they will not be able to hear you, and you cannot manage the audio manually, also another issue is that if you get disconnected, well, no more music. Also in my case I don't wanna use the voice amplification system because I made a few screens that will pop-up while the music is playing.
- Now, for videoplayers the main issue is uploading the music to a website that will not mute the audio of the video (I uploaded one of the videos I'm going to use for the event to youtube and just because of ONE SONG, the video is blocked worldwide).

You can also do private livestreams pretty easily with a cheap VPS as well. I use nginx-rtmp and it works fine with OBS, streaming via HLS to vrchat. The latency isn't great, maybe 10-20 seconds depending on the options, but probably fine if you're not trying to actually live DJ.

VRChat isn't the only VR game, nor are the official mommy anchored meetups the only point of interest in VRChat. I don't think it's that far away, maybe a year. Voice recognition isn't necessary if you're going straight from audio to audio. There's plenty of research out there on voice style transfer like https://avdnoord.github.io/homepage/vqvae/ and some actual products out there https://www.respeecher.com/ . I haven't seen anything truly realtime yet, but the NNs behind the tech aren't that complex to evaluate. More of a matter of refining the techniques out rather than inventing whole new techniques.

Late to this reply chain, but if the focus is audio only, why not go for Icecast? You can host it on a cheap VPS, or ask around for someone that has a VPS and see if they would be willing to host it. A 100mbps VPS can have roughly 300 listeners if you stream 320kbps MP3 audio. I know it can be done as an event hosted from the Anime VRChat dicksword in February 2018 utilized Icecast for music.

I haven't played VRC since, as I don't have VR, so I haven't seen what you have done for previous events, but it's just my two cents. Icecast can technically do video as well but at that point though you could just do an nginx-rtmp setup as was already mentioned, since it would probably be easier to figure out for OBS setup.

The Rift S is a good entry level VR headset. Good display (the colors are nice and the 80hz isn't that big of a deal, especially if you don't have a beast PC), good tracking (even though it uses inside out tracking, it is still very precise and stable and you can hold the controllers up to the headset and it won't lose tracking which allows you to play shooters without compromises), easy to set up (inside out tracking makes it basically plug and play), excellent controllers(probably the best on the market in terms of ergonomics). Only go for the higher end ones ones if you are really into VR.

I wonder if the current state of the AWP on Gem server is actually the best option. 99% damage was chosen before the 50 cal was in and while the Kar98 was still purchasable, and after nothing was changed. Is paying $3000, more than assault rifles, really worth it for a weapon that is useless at close range, has the worst default optic, and the gimmick of 'almost' killing players? I think making it more like CSGO's Scout could be a better option.

The k98 and AWP were outshined by cheaper weapons, I think that's why 99% damage stayed following the 50cal update. Revolver was stronger/more versatile than the k98 even before the update and following Dave's nerfs the AWP barely hit harder than the semi-auto G3.
