Wigig 2 by a country mile. It's a recently approved new standard for wireless that has retard huge bandwidth which actually exceeds what wired DP1.4 can achieve. I don't recall the exact limit, but believe it was something like up to 40GBps vs DP1.4's 26GBPs. It's the thing that'll make high res wireless VR possible without suffering from compression hell. It depends on what game you are playing. While I gave up on trying to get MS Flight Sim working well at 100%, I'm enjoying the new Lone Echo quite a bit with the headset. The open world format really complements the resolution as I can scan the very edges of the space station for unactivated drones to jet over to. That and Index controllers really do make clambering around in zero-g liberating. The only game besides MS Flight Sim I couldn't get working at 100% was No Man's Sky, but even that it does support DLSS.

With WMR the first thing you should do is delete the environments app so it doesn't load in and waste VRAM IMO. Supposedly they have already fixed that with Windows 11.

Overall pretty happy given how cheap the headset+Index controllers is versus literal $2000 headsets that don't even come with controllers or lighthouses.

I posted two of them. one uses manual redirected walking to climb stairs, the other is breaching a door by kicking it. Having your body interact with the world to go up stairs is only a small part of what I imagine it can do. This would allow extreme amounts of freedom of motion to say clamber over a wall or step into a car to drive. My system is not where I want it to be. It needs to be more like gorilla tag but with your feet. Having intractable things with your body, like the feet and the door, will help raise immersion. A better tracked chest will help with having useful inventories. These are the easier ones. A system that I've thought about is trying to get the user to 'play' dead. How would you incentivize the user to say get on the ground because they've been injured(ingame)? One way is I've thought is to have the player match their body in the game. so they would go into a third person for a second or some other solution somehow, and see that they needed to get lower to match or get close to it then they would have better control of the body. Not sure if this one would work yet. Other than that there are more subtly things that we use our lower body for that would be nice to have in VR. Something like pushing a drawer with your waist, or maybe using stance to calculation recoil on weapons. Thats all without even having feedback. Which could be an easy addition to even fbt now. but no one is making such a thing.

Sounds amazing if you have a 400 sq ft playspace but terrible if, like most people, you don't. Even if you can step into a car, you still have the classic problem that you're trying to sit in a seat which just isn't there unless you go to great lengths to organize your playspace.

I fully support FBT integration into every single VR game because looking down and seeing your body move like you do does improve immersion but in terms of gameplay it does not add anything terribly meaningful. Really, if a game about meele combat can't integrate it that well then there isn't much hope for anything that isn't a novelty. Having to dodge sword swings is about as directly involved as you can get and doesn't even run into the typical problem that what you're interacting with can't provide feedback but it simply doesn't manifest.
Kicking open a door is simple, probably cathartic and great, I'm sure but the fact is it isn't game defining and there really isn't anything that will sell the average consumer on $300 just so they can twerk in VRC. Until Oculus have cheap camera based FBT VRC is going to be the only place where it's even widely explored and, even after that, VRC will still probably be the best place.

Some games are just poorly optimized. I have a 3090 and still some games still don't run well particularly when it comes to VR. Try to drop the settings down or even turn down the render scaling if you have to 10% usually doesn't look too bad.

I don't think that's really comparable. While both booths and Apple products come as full-featured products that are ready to be used straight away, Apple stuff is not intended for nor allows tinkering.
Meanwhile I can just open up any booth in blender or whatever and go at it however I want(most even come with all project files neatly organized to allow for easier tinkering).
Since both my profession and hobbies are tech-related, I find it easier to find interest in such things. Art, however, I don't care about. I don't understand it, I can't tell bad from good, flawed from perfect. Same applies to 3D modeling. Even if you use computer software to create it and can use additional gadgets to help out with that, in the end it's still art and requires you to have some sense for it.
Same can be observed IRL as well, I don't care much about fashion as long as my clothes have somewhat of a matching color. But then again that's not comparable either since IRL you just go to the store and buy clothes, you don't buy a sewing machine and go create your own clothes because you want to be 'unique'.
And why is that? It takes time to learn it as a skill and is generally not worth it. That's the same way I view learning 3D modelling to create clothes and accessories for my virtual character and not much else.
