Mahjong has what it's going for it because it allowed up to 4P so it had a lot of social aspects between autistic shy nerds too autistic for even normal vrg meetups. It's a nice fun little game you can shoot the shit with over basically, alcohol helped a lot for us too probably. After tanki died we had multiple tables so it helped that we could have multiple tables going on and still chat and chill at our own games.

I don't even know what to say about chess or shogi. They're simply just different games altogether so that fun social aspect just doesn't carry over as much very well probably. I'm just talking out of my ass since it just simply never happened and Mahjong just has that fun, chill, comfy atmosphere during na hours. A little hectic sometimes but tanoshii. 4p chess sounds intriguging though, but it doesn't have that gameplay loop mahjong has with randomness and flow.

VCR still will be the majority. If someone actually thought that will change: I laugh at you.
CVR and Neos both had an influx of people and seem to be somewhat stable at 700+ Users. If that will stay that way is highly dependent on what the users now do.

Neos' community is used to hardcore create things. The possibilities are somewhat endless. However the UI is junk and clearly only functional, but not well laid out.

CVR's community wants basically a VRC that is not VRC. Meaning they don't want to jump through too many hoops in getting their wolfboy or kitten converted.
They are happy when their tda stripperpole clubs get converted, but will not create new stuff, even though they claim that their avatar creation was driving vrc and will drive cvr.

I very much welcome the new alternatives.Not a big fan of hopping between games to see friends, but if it is for events, I can actually see that happen. Looking forward to see you, neighbors! Have fun exploring!
